Knights in shining armor!

by admin on December 22, 2010

in My Own Creations

Just had to do this when I received some chromed pieces from BrickTW. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The chroming on the pieces is beautiful! And of course the custom pieces themselves are really nice. These are some of my favorite items from BrickTW. (You can read my full review on BrickTW’s products here.)

The sword is really sweet, the bow is very unique, and the spear is just perfect! The armor pieces are very elegant, and the helmet is both detailed enough for a realistic look, at the same time generic enough that warriors from various nations can use it. Iโ€™m very happy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Please note that the tip of the helmet is removable and interchangeable with other helmet ornaments designed by BrickTW. This is a really nice little detail!

Also, BrickTWโ€™s silver chroming matches the official LEGO silver chromed pieces perfectly. (Click on the picture for a larger view.)

BrickTWโ€™s gold chromed pieces are a darker, richer gold then the official LEGO gold chrome. You may want to take this into consideration if you are planning to mix and match BrickTWโ€™s custom parts with official LEGO. (Click on the picture for a better view.)

Now all they need is some bad guys or a big fearsome dragon to go after!

Woa! Shiny! How is the quality of the chrome? Does it rub off easily?

No, not at all! The chrome is GREAT quality! IMHO better than LEGO’s! ๐Ÿ˜‰

No offense, but TLG’s Chroming is mediocre! I opened an agents River Chase set with a Chrome Nozzle/Gun piece, and some parts began wearing off within like, 3 months. It would have been better if it was like pearl gold underneath, but it was an ugly grey colour! I pity those who nailed a Mr. Gold…

Yeah, I have seen a video of the details of Mr. Gold… not good. Although the silver-chrome stormtroopers released a couple of years ago were really nice. And the chrome greatswords are nice too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cool! Are the gold legs decals? Where are they from?

Shawn, the legs are official LEGO. They are from the gold knight from the Fantasy Era sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=cas415

Nace, no, they are are not that expensive. If I remember correctly they are $2.50 a piece, but BrickTW also has regualr sales, so I bought these when they were at half price. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What about the blue legs, where were they from?

Billly, they are actually light gray, not blue. It is just the quality of the picture. I didn’t have good lighting. But yeah, it is just the standard knight legs from Fantasy Era. ๐Ÿ˜‰

darn, I was hoping it would be blue, would work well on one of the Greek gods of the sea as part of their armor, but it still might.
