Mini LEGO Modular Buildings available now!

The LEGO Mini Modular Buildings set is finally available on LEGO’s website! This mini version of the iconic LEGO Modular sets has been available at LEGO stores since the beginning of January, however if you didn’t live near a LEGO store you were out of luck. Now you can get one at the Online LEGO Shop! 🙂

Please note that the LEGO Mini Modulars is available exclusively for LEGO VIP members. If you are not a LEGO VIP member yet, I would suggest you sign up right away. It is free to be a member, and you will collect points with every purchase you make. There is absolutely no downside to it!

Here is the official description of the LEGO Mini Modulars: The LEGO Mini Modulars are an authentic miniature representation of the first 5 buildings in the LEGO Modular Building series: Café Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer, Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium.

Here is a comparison picture with the regular LEGO Modular Buildings:

Featuring highly detailed design, each of the Mini Modular Buildings can be displayed as a stand-alone piece or connected to the others buildings in the set. The LEGO Mini Modular Café Corner includes details like a fan above the doorway and printed hotel signage, while the LEGO Mini Modular Market Street includes transparent bricks and a unique brick construction.

The quaint LEGO Mini Modular Green Grocer also features transparent bricks and a fire-escape at the rear, while the LEGO Mini Modular Fire Brigade includes a brick-bell and white arch wall elements. Finally, the LEGO Mini Modular Grand Emporium has a rooftop sign, skylight and window-washing platform. With fantastic detailing and a huge variety of elements in a range of rich colors, this exclusive Mini Modulars set is the perfect addition to every LEGO VIP member’s collection.

To get an even better view, here is an excellent review by the designer of the LEGO Mini Modular set, Jamie Berard. The video will give you a good idea of how the Mini Modulars look next to the regular LEGO Modular buildings and see how cute they really are! Enjoy! 🙂

Here is a summary of the features of the LEGO Mini Modulars:

  • Exclusively available to LEGO VIP Members!
  • Authentic miniature representation of first 5 LEGO Modular Buildings: Café Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer, Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium!
  • Each building can be displayed individually or connected to the other buildings in the set!
  • All buildings feature fantastic detailing and a wide variety of elements and colors!
  • Completed model measures over 5″ (14.5 cm) tall, 12″ (32 cm) long and 2.5″ (6.5 cm) wide!
  • Each individual building measures 2.5″ (6.5 cm) long and 2.5″ (6.5 cm) wide!

One thing we didn’t talk about yet is the price. The Mini Modulars go for $79.99. With 1356 pieces that is just below 6 cents a piece. That is not bad at all – in fact lower than most LEGO sets these days – however you are getting mostly tiny pieces. But then again; the building-experience is interesting, and you get something very unique. If you collect the LEGO Modular Buildings already, this would be a nice addition to your collection. Or if you aren’t able to get the regular Modular Buildings – or you don’t have the room to display them – this can be a sweet little substitute. 😛

I’m not sure if LEGO has plans to make mini versions of the of the #10218 LEGO Modular Pet Shop, and future releases in the modular line – like the #10224 LEGO Modular Town Hall – but I believe they would appeal to collectors. What do you think? 😉

Even though these are small, they do offer an interesting building experience. I recommend them!
