LEGO Star Wars B-wing Starfighter coming!

in LEGO Star Wars

The #10227 LEGO Star Wars B-Wing Starfighter Ultimate Collector Series version is coming in October and will be available exclusively at LEGO Brand Stores and the Online LEGO Shop. So let’s look at the details! :)

The #10227 LEGO Star Wars B-wing Starfighter description:

Take on the Empire in the Ultimate Collector Series B-wing Starfighter!

Now you can experience the ultimate B-wing Starfighter from the Star Wars galaxy like never before. This fantastic model features everything you would expect from our premium collector range, including rotating, self-leveling cockpit and realistic wing configurations for landing and flight. And when you’re finished battling in the skies above Endor or helping to restore freedom in the galaxy, place this highly detailed B-wing Starfighter on its own dedicated display-stand and fact-plaque. Measures 26” (66 cm) wide and 15” (38 cm) high in flight configuration, and 17” (43 cm) high on display stand.

Here is a great interview from the LEGO-designer who worked on the LEGO Star Wars B-wing Starfighter, showing off the details:

Cool, isn’t it? And big! Some of the highlights of the LEGO Star Wars B-wing Starfighter are as follows:

  • Features rotating, self-leveling cockpit
  • Features realistic wing configurations for landing and flight
  • Includes display-stand and fact-plaque
  • Model can be detached from display-stand
  • Measures 26” (66cm) wide and 15” (38cm) high in flight configuration, and 17” (43cm) high when mounted on display-stand
  • 1,486 pieces, recommended for ages 16+

The LEGO Star Wars B-wing Starfighter will be available for:  US $199.99, CA $249.99, DE 199.99€, UK 169.99£, DK 1699 DKK

In the Star Wars saga the B-wing Starfighter was one of the largest and most heavily armed starfighters/bombers in the Rebel Alliance’s fleet, personally designed by Admiral Ackbar. The name B-wing came from the craft’s remote similarity in appearance to the lowercase letter “b”, although its sword-like shape in attack-mode has earned it the nickname “blade-wing”, which may be another reason for the “b” prefix. It was the key Rebel craft during the battle of Endor where a fleet of B-wings took down an Imperial Star Destroyer. The B-wing served in other important battles as well. The Empire was trying to capture one of these bad-boys just to steal the design, but they remained unsuccessful in their attempt.

The #10227 LEGO Star Wars B-wing is not the first time LEGO tackles this interestingly shaped starfighter. In the year 2000 LEGO released the #7180 LEGO Star Wars B-wing at Rebel Control Center which included a B-wing, a rebel command center with B-wing pilot, Rebel mechanic, and R5-D4 minifigures. In 2006 LEGO released the #6208 LEGO Star Wars B-wing Fighter, which included an improved B-wing model, a display stand, and two minifigures: Ten-Numb and a Rebel pilot.

So how do you like the LEGO Star Wars B-wing from the Ultimate Collector Series? Is it on your must-have list? And how do you like the features? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! ;)

I think this one will be skipped over a bit. Its not nearly as iconic as some other Star Wars vehicles. It is almost minifigure scale, so the lack of any minifigues is rather puzzling (would have been nice to re-release Ten Numb who was only available in the 2006 B-wing). I think a UCS minifigure scale version with a minifgure or two would help the price point and the desirability of the set significantly. As is it will likely be a like Obi Wan’s starfighter.

Jacob, yeah, adding a minifigure or two would have been nice! :)

The video blew my mind! Those new pieces that they used to allow them to clip the two halves of each wing together had me drooling. But alas, I will not be able to afford this set. My money is going towards 1) the new FFG X-wing miniatures game, 2) LEGO Hero Factory Breakout wave 2, and 3) LEGO The Lord of the Rings. B-wing is way cool, but I guess I’m just not an “ultimate collector.” :)

Gabriel, I guess with all this LEGO goodness this year, the answer is getting more $$$. Let’s see… we can rob a bank (although they don’t seem to have much money left either these days), do it like the government and print more, or work more. Oh… and we also need a bigger house!

Gabriel July 19, 2012 at 11:40 AM

Yes! A bigger house is a must. My copy of Brickdicted just arrived, and I’m seeing more and more how I fit the bill.
