It is so, so fulfilling to see Cragger turning good and the overall absence of the flower in use throughout the whole episode. Note that Cragger is not even slightly my favorite character. Knowing how this show fluctuate in quality, I won’t be surprised if he’s evil again by the next episode…

I watch it every Saturday afternoon, but I know a couple of people here get to watch it early. If you want to see spoilers, you should probably keep an eye on this thread over the week.

That was an awesome episode! I like Cragger being a good guy for a change. I would love to see a minifigure of Regal!

Admin, do you have a post for the LEGO Modular Parisian Restaurant? If not, I can write one for you.

Reply

admin October 6, 2013 at 6:28 PM

Yes, of course. I get all news and press-releases directly from LEGO weeks before the official release. However since I only post once a day and I wanted to make sure Chima fans get the latest episode, I have the article scheduled for Monday. ;)

Got to half-agree with Peyton – this is the best episode we’ve had in a wee while and it’s got plenty of good reasons to be so. While it’s not a Foxtrot it certainly has some really really nice aspects.

The new Reagle or whatever his name is is a great character with a fantastic backstory – it’s a little cliché that the half-caste is the outcast but it brings in a theme which I think Chima could benefit with a bit more of – prejudice. The divisions between races is very apparent but there is a lot of potential for stories with this theme, such as some mistreatment of the rhinos because of their dumbness which leads to some tensions – as I’ve said, there’s potential in this theme and this character is a nice introduction to it. Also, I hope we get a minifig of him because he has a pretty standout look that would be pretty cool to see in minifig form.

Another great strength of this episode is the re-characterisation of Crooler. Like I wrote last episode, Crooler has been acting a little too thoughtfully and now that we have almost everything back to normal it’s good to see her back up to her wonderfully evil schemes. Cragger’s writing was also strong, with him not acting too nice but not being the dislikable, arrogant brat like he is under Crooler’s control. It’s good to see more of a friendship between Cragger and Laval, now, because it means the spotlight is taken away from Laval a lot – something I know people will appreciate given Laval’s needy nature.

Finally, the wolves. I’m a fan of the wolves but I would actually like to see a little less of them for a bit because they’ve been so important over the past 4 episodes that they’re beginning to annoy me. The CHIckening is a great and light-hearted way to resolve this problem and I’ll be happy to have less of a focus on them next time, despite the strongly hinted relationship between Worriz and Windra being something that needs to be expanded upon more.

As for the weaknesses of this episode… All that I can think of is the ending. Reagle (or whatever) is too much of an interesting character to leave alone, so when Laval and Eris let him fly I was overjoyed to see a thoughtful ending to this sub-story… then they shot him down. Talk about being a meanie, Laval! Sure, Reagle’s motives were a bit twisted (in a comedic way) but that’s just jerkish.

Overall, a strong episode with a weak ending which only slightly drags it down, and all because everyone loves to hate Crooler.

Insightful.

But I still won’t be surprised if all the good points you mentioned are abruptly thrown out of the window by the next episode….

Such is the nature of Chima… Perfect one episode, terrible the next… Just look at Episode 8 The Biggest Race Ever then Gorillas Go Wild. Cragger’s ‘better Wugge’ line was so well-delivered that I coul easily rank the episode as a favourite just because of it – it marked a change in Cragger’s attitude which began Crooler’s losing of control over him which culminates finally in the above Episode 14. Instead of the slow development towards this, however, we got the ‘two little bellow plants to keep you high and dry…’ in what might be the worst episode of the series. The only merit to this episode is Crooler getting stuck in a tree, which served no purpose but to add some comedy to an otherwise way too serious episode.

Ok. Admin, when will you post my second series 11 review? I can wait; I was just wondering.

Reply

admin October 6, 2013 at 6:55 PM

Carbo, there is tremendous amount of news coming out, plus a bunch of contributors’ posts lined up, so I have to post the urgent ones first. I do have your post ready and it is currently scheduled for the 9th. If there is nothing else that I need to sqeeze in, that’s when it should go live. TBB is a very busy blog and at times it is very difficult to juggle all the posts that need to be published. Thank you for your patience! ;)

When will my reviews be posted? I sent them in not last thursday, but the thursday before that.

admin October 6, 2013 at 8:54 PM

I’m really sorry, but as you know TBB is a very busy blog with a huge lists of posts that need to be published. I didn’t forget about your posts, however I have to juggle over a hundred posts at any given time, some being more urgent than others. Priority is based on the timeliness of the article as well as the needs of our readers. Since I’m only doing this as a hobby there is no way I can spend more than 4 hours a day working on posts (either mine or others) and cannot publish more than one post a day (I also have to work and study). So please be patient. If you want to post your articles faster you can always start your own blog. ;)

You should find someone to be your helper and start putting two posts a day. ;)

admin October 7, 2013 at 8:55 AM

That’s an idea, but I don’t really want to do that. First of all, I want to give each post enough time for readers to discuss. I don’t want to inundate people with a bunch of new information. We are already bombarded with news plenty enough by the media. Plus, this is my blog. It supposed to be fun for both our readers and myself. Not a job. Again; anybody can start a blog on their own and run it as they please. In fact, several of our contributors have their own blog/website. And several others don’t, because they know how much work it takes. But the beauty of the Internet is that there is room for everyone; big blogs, little blogs, big forums, little forums, big news sites, little news sites. We don’t have to be all the same. That’s what makes it interesting. ;)

Even one post a day is already slightly overwhelming!

Reply

admin October 7, 2013 at 11:50 AM

Yeah, actually someone else also mentioned that they preferred when I posted 5 times/week, and not the weekend. But I just had to do it as there was no way I could keep up with all the awesomeness of LEGO in just 5 days a week. But at some point, when I get caught up (if that will ever happen, LOL!) I may go back to that. It was a nice schedule as there are people who prefer to follow TBB during the week, and others like to catch up on the weekend. Anyway, there are plusses and minuses to each method. :)

Is anyone in Canada watching Chima on Teletoon?
I got rid of the cable for the summer and haven’t gotten it back; just wondering if I’m missing anything?

Kristina, I can’t answer your question as I’m in the USA, but just wanted to say; yay, for ditching the cable!

Hi Admin! I just watched Episode 15 – Ravens versus Eagles! SPOILERRRRR ALERTTTT :)

The Eagles kept saying that the stuff in Eagle Spire was theirs. But the Ravens kept saying it belongs to everyone! Then there was a big race with lots of racers including Dom De La Woosh and Shadow Wind – they are both back. But Shadow Wind still has not revealed himself. :( Crooler realizes that all the plants that she used to control Cragger were dead. There’s also a big secret in Eris’ diary, but I won’t spoil that for you. :) It’s a secret! You’ll find out when you watch! Anyway, enjoy Episode 15!

It comes out today – if you want to watch it before TBB uploads a post on it, then two good and reiable sites are animeflavor and dubbedscene. Just type “Lego Chima Episode 15″ into your preferred search engine and they should come up near the top.

Pia, it’s working fine for me. I just watched the whole thing again. Please note that the weekends are very busy, and when a lot of people try to watch the video at the same time it could freeze up. I would suggest to try a bit later. ;)

PS So the lions fixed their wall, and now they think they can actually protect these tribes?!? Let’s teach them a lesson with the power of their own chi!!! (One of Worriz’ lines from Episode 11.)
