LEGO The Simpsons House – video review

If you have been wondering how the newly released #71006 LEGO The Simpsons House looks like up close and personal, check out this full review by the BrickShow. I always found video-reviews helpful as you can see the LEGO model and minifigures from various angles, and also experience the functionality and moving parts of a set. And of course you get a better perspective of the size and scale of the set too. 🙂

#71006 LEGO The Simpsons House Details

I’m not a big Simpsons fan, but I really like the doll-house nature of this set. It can easily be re-populated with regular LEGO minifigures or even LEGO Friends figures if you are not into The Simpsons. I can imagine kids playing with this for hours, and adults decorating and expanding on it to fit their creativity. There is nothing like a good old-fashioned doll-house! In fact, doll-houses have been a favorite of both children and adults going all the way back to the Egyptians five thousand years ago!

Although some people have expressed concerns that The Simpsons is not a particularly child-friendly show, the set itself is brilliant and there is nothing inappropriate about it; it’s just a well-detailed family house with some minifigs and lots of play-features. In fact, it’s a refreshing break from all the shooting, chasing and gun-toting minifigures found in most LEGO sets these days. And of course if you are a Simpsons fan you just had your wish come true, so all the better!

#71006 LEGO The Simpsons House Minifigs

I’m very curious to see how popular the LEGO Simpsons House is going to be, but I think it is a hit. Even if for some reason it won’t get received well, I really hope that LEGO will continue making such sets with so much detail and playability. I would love to see more LEGO City sets like this, as well as a LEGO castle and even a space-station that is built up as much as the LEGO Simpsons House.

That Space Station one might not be too far off-Let’s see where this FOX License will take us; maybe to a similarly large Fututama set…

i’m actually a bit disappointed in lego right now, but not for the same reason some people commenting on earlier posts on this set where. i don’t care much about the simpsons, what i find disappointing is the fact that most sets lego designed themselves aren’t as detailed as this one, even bigger ones. so their basically get fox to design all the details for them and then adapting it as a lego set. seems pretty lazy to me.

The Simpsons and LEGO is just a really good mix (even beyond the yellow-skin characters). I’m hoping that LEGO will continue the trend of releasing highly detailed sets like this in other themes as well. It seems that they are going in that direction. Just look at the last modular, the Parisian Restaurant! You couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous and detailed set! 😀

It’s not easy to adapt an original model into Lego. Not really lazy if you ask me…

BTW, I don’t know if you guys noticed it, but Bart’s legs and short-sleeves are NOT printed, they are moulded from two different colored plastic! A first in LEGO’s history! 😀

I think the detail is amazing! But, that’s just me.

I heard complaints about the house’s color scheme. That the tan color of the house doesn’t go well with the furniture.

I’d think the problem is that it really wasn’t feasible to do outer and inner walls in separate colors (it’d have required a bigger set and a lot more pieces), in the show the inner rooms have various matte pastel colors such as purple, pink and lime, which matches the furniture better. The exterior color also seems to have varied quite a bit in various tones ranging from yellow to orange to pink.

Yeah, it is hard to get everything. I do like the fact that the house looks like a regular house from the outside with using tan. The furniture is loud, but they are loud in the show too. I don’t know how else it could have been down besides doubling the walls (which would have made the set a lot more expensive), or making double colored bricks!

I don’t think it is such a big problem as the rooms are small. If there would be more wall showing the colorful furniture would look strange, but in this scale I don’t think it matters. And if someone doesn’t like it they can always MOC it to their satisfaction. 😉

Yeah, the loudness would be more tangible in a 3d model than a 2d cartoon.

I agree, if LEGO put this much detail into the City, Space, etc. sets it would be fabulous! I think it should be an addition to every major wave of sets…like Lord Business’s lair could surely be built up and become a set with such a price tag.

    • admin January 27, 2014, 10:12 AM

Yeah, it would be great. I don’t even buy sets any more like Lord Business’ Lair. They all look the same – be that The LEGO Movie, Super Heroes or Star Wars; a few sceleton floors and walls that look like movie-props and some equipment here and there. Of course LEGO has to stay within a price-range and these are still great sets to get all the major parts of a scene that we can then build up, but it is also nice to have official large and detailed sets. 🙂
