LEGO MetalBeard’s pirate ship available!

So here it is; the biggest, baddest pirate-ship from The LEGO Movie, the #70810 LEGO Metalbeard’s Sea Cow! Below you will find the official press-release as well as pictures, and the designer-video. It is actually really hard to show how big this ship is because it won’t fit on an average computer screen, so make sure you watch the video with the LEGO designers to get a sense of the scale. Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Fire the powerful shooting cannons from the side of the ship to repel the Micro Managers. And watch out โ€“ one has flick missiles and the other can shoot a net! Raise the anchors, spin the rear propellers and steer the ship to safety with the mini version of MetalBeard at the wheel.

Awesome! I’m gonna get it after school because the conctruct-o-mech doesn’t come out until August ๐Ÿ™

  • BLProductions February 17, 2014, 10:36 AM

Wow!!! This is a monster ship! I could not decide which TLM set i wanted more (Emmet’s mech or the Sea Cow), but now it’s the ship for sure (I think ๐Ÿ˜• ). All those accessories! And MetalBeard’s joints are those new mini ball joints! ๐Ÿ˜€

BTW, on the topic of those new joints, both the 2014 Star Wars (finally) and Series 1 of Mixels are now available in US.

Admin, what wrong with my comments?

      • admin February 17, 2014, 11:03 AM

Not sure what was the problem. The spam filter didn’t like them for some reason. I just approved them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        • admin February 17, 2014, 11:08 AM

BTW, comments never disappear (well, unless our server crashes, but that’s rare). Sometimes comments go under moderation, but I will approve them as soon as I see them. We have to have a fairly agressive filter for moderation due to the site not requiring registration but a lot of kids visiting the site – I like to keep it family friendly.

        • BLProductions February 17, 2014, 1:51 PM

          Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

        • lego ff February 17, 2014, 2:32 PM

Yeah that happend to me too. I was second comment but now I’m way farther down. It said my comment was being moderated.
          ๐Ÿ˜•

          • admin February 17, 2014, 2:48 PM

Not sure why that’s happening. I do see that more than normal number of comments went under moderation today, and you guys are not using any words that are questionable. Maybe the filter is just being grumpy today. ๐Ÿ˜•

    • admin February 17, 2014, 11:04 AM

Yeah, that was actually the post I had scheduled for today; about the Mixels. But I got the Sea Cow press-release yesterday morning, so decided to publish that first. We will talk about the Mixels tomorrow. So much stuff to write about! ๐Ÿ˜›

      • Alex February 17, 2014, 4:03 PM

I thought they were coming out MARCH 17… ๐Ÿ˜€ That means I’ll get my article posted soon!

  • Beardless Dwarf February 17, 2014, 11:37 AM

Awesome! I just saw the movie on Saturday night and it was epic! I like that this set comes with most of the Heros.

  • ninja of stealth February 17, 2014, 12:19 PM

awesome beardless dwarf! (its weird how I keep saying awesome all the time these days? or am I just thinking of the word all the time and I feel like I keep saying it? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ) it was an awesome movie!!!

    • Beardless Dwarf February 18, 2014, 9:43 AM

I’ve been using awesome a lot because of the song =P

      “Everything is awesome!
Everything is cool when you’re part of a team!”

      • admin February 18, 2014, 9:55 AM

Yeah, me too! Driving my family nuts! I also say Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! for everything exciting… not just for spaceships, as I don’t run into spaceships too often. ๐Ÿ™„

        • ninja of stealth February 18, 2014, 11:33 AM

yeah, my favorite thing to build in MOCs is spaceships! so I tend to run into that quote a lot. spaceship, spaceship, spaceship!

          • BLProductions February 18, 2014, 12:46 PM

I like building spaceship MOCs too! Though usually SW related. SPACESHIP!!!

  • Brick addict February 17, 2014, 12:49 PM

lego just got ANOTHER 300 bucks from me ๐Ÿ˜‰ since i’m for sure going to get Bennys spaceship and now this since i LOVE pirate ships and this one will look amazing on a shelf with my other ones really fun to play with to ๐Ÿ™‚ and it comes with the double decker couch ๐Ÿ˜€

    • admin February 17, 2014, 2:29 PM

Yeah, LEGO is going to empty our vallets this year… again… ๐Ÿ™„

Have fun with your pritate ship! I wouldn’t be surprized if this sells out before the public release! Of course they will restock it, but reading the enthusiastic feedback on it so far, I think VIP members will empty the stock! ๐Ÿ™„

      • Brick addict February 17, 2014, 5:12 PM

lucky i’m a VIP member to help empty the stock ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOL! If you don’t mind me mentioning, please use our links so we get a little trickle of 3% of that gravy ship carrying all that treasure! This is a short month and it would help paying the website bills.

woops, I haven’t bought it so I will use the link now

            • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 6:06 AM

  • Gabe February 17, 2014, 2:04 PM

cool – nice site… I’ll be back soon.

  • Ryan February 17, 2014, 3:52 PM

Hey admin I’m just wondering if I buy this off brick link and it’s used will it come already assembled? Because I’m a little lazy on high pcs sets

    • admin February 17, 2014, 3:56 PM

Ryan, no sets don’t come assembled, no matter where you buy them. It would be extremely difficult (and expensive) to ship an assembled set this size! If you don’t want to build it yourself, organize a building party with a couple of friends and let them build it for you! Most people would jump all over themselves for an opportunity like that! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Lloydguy February 17, 2014, 4:34 PM

        I know I would!

        • Brick addict February 17, 2014, 5:13 PM

          As would I!

          • Ninja of stealth February 17, 2014, 11:34 PM

I would build that thing for you in a heartbeat!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ it would be so AWESOME!!!

            • admin February 18, 2014, 9:47 AM

Yeah, I would be happy to volunteer too! Let’s get together and help build that BIG SHIP! ๐Ÿ˜€

      • LK901 February 18, 2014, 5:09 AM

        I would!!!!

        • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 3:08 PM

          Yeah!

          • CaptainChespin February 19, 2014, 7:33 PM

            I definitely would! ๐Ÿ˜€ Who’s ready to build? ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Ryan February 17, 2014, 4:02 PM

Oh ok thanks but I just remembered if I could build the gunship I could build this!

    • admin February 17, 2014, 4:37 PM

Yeah, don’t sell yourself short. Building is the best part of a LEGO set! If you are busy, just take your time and build it over several days.

      • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 6:02 AM

My mom is shipping it to my dad’s office so he bring home bag oneish so I can build Minibeard, the minfigs, and possibly the doulble decker couch. I am gonna have to wait till spring break to have enough time to build it

        • admin February 18, 2014, 9:52 AM

Oh, that’s a nice arrangement! Your parents are very thoughtful.

          • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 8:51 PM

Its actually more like I am getting a loan from my dad, and only building the characters, and possibly the double decker couch and or micro managers.

            • admin February 18, 2014, 9:35 PM

I see, even that is lots of fun though! I’m always available to build someone else’s LEGO set! ๐Ÿ˜€

              • Lloydguy February 19, 2014, 6:59 AM

Well its my set, but I’m not allowed to build it

                • admin February 19, 2014, 8:50 AM

Okay… maybe you should charge a fee then?

                  • Lloydguy February 19, 2014, 3:53 PM

Good idea *Rubs hands together slowly*

  • Micho February 17, 2014, 6:27 PM

I already asked for this for my wedding anniversary in October, hopefully financials are good then LOL

    • admin February 17, 2014, 9:29 PM

Ah, that’s nice! I hope the missus will also get something awesome! ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Micho February 18, 2014, 10:26 AM

        • admin February 18, 2014, 11:17 AM

          • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 4:55 PM

Wouldn’t jk jk mean you’re just kidding about just kidding, making it a double negative and mean you’re telling the truth? Or are you saying it twice to clarify?

            • admin February 18, 2014, 5:31 PM

I took it to mean that he is planning to give a gift with one hand, keep it with the other, and hope his wife won’t notice. Micho, am I right?

              • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 6:19 PM

Oh, that makes sense when I reread it

  • Narrator Bob February 18, 2014, 7:10 AM

I notice you said VIPs could buy it online. Can they also buy it in stores? Because I don’t order from the online shop much.

    • admin February 18, 2014, 9:53 AM

Hm… good question. I would suggest that you call your store. Some of them start to carry exclusives like this early, but some don’t have them in stock until the official release. So that’s what I would do. If you order it online you will get free shipping, so it won’t cost any extra. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Ryan February 18, 2014, 3:00 PM

Yes it is available in stores for VIPs that’s how my dad got a VIP promotional Baggie exclusive to VIPs!

  • Ryan February 18, 2014, 3:05 PM

Hey what a great idea lets get together to bad I’m in the uk tho ๐Ÿ™

    • admin February 18, 2014, 4:02 PM

Come on over! It is 80 degrees here, sunny with a few fluffy white clouds, we have sandy beaches, ice-cream and… alligators! ๐Ÿ™„

      • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 4:57 PM

        Florida?

        • admin February 18, 2014, 5:29 PM

          Yep! ๐Ÿ˜›

          • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 6:17 PM

Yay! I checked the weather for Orlando and it said it was 83. I knew there are alligators because when I visited my grandparents they said they have an alligator in the lake in their backyard.

            • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 6:17 PM

              woops, forgot ๐Ÿ™‚

            • lego trooper 91 February 18, 2014, 8:45 PM

alligators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are so darn luky its funny here we have almoste a foot of snow (allmoste) ๐Ÿ˜€

              • Lloydguy February 18, 2014, 8:52 PM

I shoveled my driveway so I wouldn’t have to pay $13.65 interest to my dad for getting a loan.

            • admin February 18, 2014, 8:56 PM

Yeah, alligators are everywhere. Pretty much if you see a decent size lake you can expect that at least one alligator lives there. Rivers too. Even small rivers. It is something Floridians are used to, but it freaks out visitors and tourists. They think we are nuts living so close to gators! But that’s just part of life here. ๐Ÿ™‚

              • gid617 February 18, 2014, 9:54 PM

Wow, I didn’t realize they were so common! I guess it’s like earthquakes in Chile… they’re so frequent there that unless they’re over 7 (on the Richter scale), they’re just ‘tremors’!

                • admin February 18, 2014, 9:56 PM

Yeah, just like that! BTW, I would totally freak out about an earthquake, but I don’t mind alligators. I guess everyone has their favorite things to be afraid of. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

                  • gid617 February 19, 2014, 4:08 PM

They aren’t that bad, really… you know, after a tremor an hour (which was what it was like for days after the big one), you get used to anything!

I think an alligator would probably scare me though. Especially if I wasn’t expecting it. (Though come to think of it, I guess an earthquake should technically be more scary… you can’t get away from it/stop it no matter what you do… unless you jump up and down, which makes it hard to feel. Takes all the fun out of it though. ๐Ÿ˜€ )

                    • admin February 19, 2014, 5:01 PM

The thing with alligators is that they are quite lazy during the day, just sunning themselves, and they go hunting at dusk. However if you startle them they will attack during the day too, and they are very quick. They are huge and humans are certainly no match for them. Every year we have accidents with gators – mostly involving tourists and annoying dogs. But if you leave them alone they will leave you alone too. Just give them a respectable distance. They can be anywhere near rivers and lakes, and they can also travel great distances and run quite fast. Now earthquakes are a whole other matter entirely… I don’t think they are driven by hunger or getting annoyed by puppies…

                    • gid617 February 19, 2014, 9:17 PM

LOL! Yes, far less predicable in that way!

Well, I sure won’t be getting near any gators any time soon!

      • ryan February 19, 2014, 11:46 AM

        sure! where in florida?

        • admin February 19, 2014, 12:25 PM

Two hours North of Orlando. ๐Ÿ˜‰
