LEGO promotions for September & beyond

The beginning of a new month always means new LEGO promotions, so let’s take a look at what’s happening this time. September is usually not as exciting as August when a lot of new sets get released (see: All New LEGO Sets & Promotions for August!), but there are still some offerings you may want to take advantage of. ๐Ÿ™‚

LEGO Shopping September

First of all, there are two free promotional items this month; the free LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike set that you can get with purchases of $50 or more, is a carry-over from August and will last until September 14th. The second promotional item isย the free exclusive LEGO Classic Spaceman Minifigure (with a little LEGO Classic Space robot). This offer is only available for LEGO VIP members from September 1st to the 14th with purchases of $99 or more. So basically if you make a $100 purchase, you will get both promo sets and of course free shipping.

LEGO Shopping LEGO Store Calendar September

The amazing and monstrous #76023 LEGO Batman The Tumbler is now available for all (not just LEGO VIP members) and you can get it at either official LEGO stores or the Online LEGO Shop. You can read more about this set here: LEGO Batman Tumbler Available Now!

Then from September 17th, LEGO VIP members get early access to this year’s LEGO Holiday exclusive, the #10475 LEGO Santa’s Workshop – a very cute set I will be reviewing within the next few days. The set will be available for non-VIP members in October. You can check out other LEGO holiday sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

I think it is worth placing at least one order in September to get the free LEGO Classic Space Minifigure promo set, otherwise you may consider waiting until October, where the Double VIP Points promotion will begin and last for the entire month. Which basically means that you will get $5 worth of points for every $50 you spend (instead of $100) at official LEGO Stores and the Online LEGO Shop. So October is a good month for making your larger purchases and maximizing the amount of points you get. You can then spend the accumulated points on future purchases. And in November, when the holiday shopping madness officially begins, LEGO will have their own version of Black Friday (called Brick Friday, of course) with discounted prices for LEGO VIP members and some other promotions.

Shop LEGO Creator Sets

Personally I don’t like to wait until November because a lot of the most desirable sets are sold out by thenย – especially all of the holiday sets like the LEGO Advent Calendars and the LEGO Winter Village sets. I would suggest that if you have a very specific LEGO shopping list for the holidays, you take care of it now or in October to avoid the crowds swooping down on LEGO retailers and the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? How do you like this month’s promotions? Are you planning to get anything this month or saving up for later? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! ๐Ÿ˜‰

How do I become a VIP member because I can’t ever figure it out

  • LegoUniverse Bob September 1, 2014, 12:59 PM

I always buy from amazon. I don’t know why, but I guess it’s cheaper, maybe? I’m getting the Infearno Interception soon, and I’ll compare both the prices, and see which one is better.

    • admin September 1, 2014, 10:02 PM

We all have our favorite places. I also shop on Amazon quite a bit. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Kim September 2, 2014, 1:05 AM

I’d shop on Amazon more and I have admittedly bought some of the previous minifigure series but I’m finding that most stuff I want on Amazon is older stuff that I can actually get cheaper on Bricklink. I mean some of the prices on astounding and it boggles my mind that anyone thinks that people will pay that much for them. Not talking retired super popular sets but it seems like anything that’s older than about 5-10 years no matter what its size has an automatic base price of $50.

        • admin September 2, 2014, 10:10 AM

Yeah, shopping on Amazon only make sense for newly released items that are carried directly by Amazon. On new items they have excellent prices and with a lower free shipping threshold than LEGO’s and no tax to most states, shopping with them is a good option. Older and retires sets and minifigs are not sold directly by Amazon but by Amazon affiliates. That’s why the prices are so high.

I like the Tumbler (but of course cannot afford it) and I’d really like to get the Classic Spaceman set (and the Exo-suit), but I’m not allowed to get any more Lego until my family’s trip to Disney World, which is about the last week of November into December (so I just miss Brick Friday stuff). ๐Ÿ™ The only exception to all this is the Exo-suit, which I will buy as soon as it comes back, whenever that is. ๐Ÿ˜•
Will the Classic Spaceman promo become available to the public, or will it just be for VIPs?
Also, my brother got his AT-TE today, so we now have all the Geonosis sets except one. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hmm. I can’t decide whether or not to get that Santa’s Workshop. It doesn’t really fit with a city theme, however, I do still want a santa claus with a sleigh and that sleigh has some special parts. Hmmm. On another note, I put together the mini mini cooper and it doesn’t fit a minifigure unless you make it a convertible and add a steering wheel which is easy enough to do. I love the green color and wish there were more bricks that shade of green.

    • admin September 1, 2014, 10:05 PM

Kim, sorry for the late reply. I was at the beach all day. That’s interesting about the mini MINI Cooper. Thanks for sharing! Yeah, that sleigh is really sweet. You might consider just downloading the instructions and build your own. Although I have to say that there are a lot of special pieces in this set. Perhaps you could get it and just sell the minifigs/parts that you don’t need? That way you can keep the sleigh and Santa and recoup most (if not all) of your money. I know those elves are going to be very popular. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m back from the LEGO Store. They were out of the Knowhere Escape set but gave be a card so I could get free shipping from the online store. I’ll have to wait till October for Double points before I order again.
I did get the Star Wars Advent calendar, Ecto-1, and Spider-man verses Electro. They added the Firebike and the Classic space man set. Classic Space Man is why I waited till today to go.
I also checked the pick a brick wall for some parts. I need a few pieces for a build but the those parts weren’t on the wall. So I’ll check bricklink or just wait and add them to my October order.

    • Kim September 1, 2014, 3:35 PM

classic spaceman doesn’t seem to be available for orders on site yet. I had a Fairground Mixer chilling in my cart waiting for me and the only added item in there was the Firebike.

    • Kim September 1, 2014, 4:29 PM

Oh, nevermind, I re-added it and it’s there.

      • admin September 1, 2014, 10:08 PM

I also placed an order this morning (before heading to the beach); got all the new Mixels and a couple of Technic sets I have been wanting to try out. I got both the Fire Bike and the Classic Space guy added. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • BLProductions September 2, 2014, 10:04 AM

Darn. I was really hoping to get that Spaceman. But I don’t have $100 to spend at the moment (it’s all in savings), nor a VIP card. I’d have to convince my mom to help get me something, and she’s not buying anything until December. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜ก

    • admin September 1, 2014, 10:06 PM

Nice! Sounds like you had a great shopping trip! ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Maethorneth September 2, 2014, 7:34 AM

Sounds like some good deals. Unfortunately, my VIP card is linked to an account that is under 18 so I can’t order from LEGO Shop online and get the VIP discount without a new card. I really would like the Tumbler set but I might just try to find the Joker on eBay or Amazon as that’s what I really want from that set. The Santa’s workshop would be awesome to have because of all those elves but I don’t know if I’ll get it. I’m trying to save up for the return of BIONICLE though. Too many choices! =P

    • admin September 2, 2014, 10:15 AM

You should be able to get the minifig separately on either eBay or BrickLink, however expect to pay a pretty price. Exclusive minifigs from such large sets are usually not cheap. Yeah, LEGO is making us work too hard by having to choose from so many awesome sets! ๐Ÿ™„

  • BLProductions September 2, 2014, 10:06 AM

Admin, where is today’s article? Is there not one today? ๐Ÿ˜•

    • admin September 2, 2014, 10:11 AM

So sorry. I was at the beach yesterday, so didn’t have a chance to write. However I do have a very interesting article ready for tomorrow by our newest teen writer who is aspiring to become a regular contributor. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • BLProductions September 2, 2014, 10:28 AM

It’s okay. It gives me more time to work on my article about 42030. I will get that to you sometime before the end of next week. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Oh, and, do you know when the Exo-suit is restocking? I thought it would be this week…. ๐Ÿ˜•

        • admin September 2, 2014, 10:31 AM

That’s what I thought too (about the Exo Suit), but it still shows as temporarily out of stock. I actually called LEGO this morning about something else and forgot to ask. I do know that they restocked at their stores, but I’m not sure about online. Maybe I will call them later.

          • Chris of Yoda Archives September 2, 2014, 7:08 PM

They didn’t have it at the Nashville location yesterday.

            • admin September 3, 2014, 11:07 AM

Yeah, they are selling like crazy. I don’t understand why LEGO won’t make enough. ๐Ÿ˜•
