March 2015 – new LEGO sets & promotions

Can you believe we are in March already? Yeah, time flies! And for LEGO fans this month is full exciting new LEGO sets, LEGO themes, promotions and events. In fact it is almost like the beginning of the year all over again! We will go through everything below, so follow along. 🙂

LEGO March Calendar

2015 LEGO BIONICLE SETS & FREE HERO PACK: The resurrected LEGO BIONICLE theme got a large wave of brand new sets in January, which has been a long-time dream of original BIONCLE fans. It also seems like the theme is getting traction with younger LEGO fans who are new to this epic saga. There are no new LEGO sets this month in this category, however there is a very sweet offer: From March 1st to the 20th you can get a free LEGO BIONICLE Hero Pack with any purchase. The pack includes a translucent-orange Mask of Fire, a buildable blue Skull Spider, a booklet, stickers and poster. Please note that this free set is offered while supplies last. Knowing how dedicated BIONICLE fans are, if you want this freebie I would suggest you place your order (remember, this offer is valid with any order, not just BIONICLE, and there is no minimum purchase limit) right away instead of waiting later in the month. You can find all the BIONICLE sets at the LEGO BIONICLE section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop LEGO Bionicle

2015 LEGO ELVES SETS & FREE POLYBAG: This is a brand new theme launching this month. We have discussed this exciting new theme previously (see links at the end of this post). All I can say that it is all around excellent: cute mini-dolls, gorgeous colors, many new elements and accessories, great playability! We will be reviewing the sets shortly, but so far everyone who was able to get them early can only say good things about LEGO Elves. And to thank you for trying out this new theme, LEGO is offering a free LEGO Elves Azaris’s Magic Fire polybag with any LEGO Elves purchase for the entire month. You can find all the new sets at the LEGO Elves section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO Elves Available Now

DOUBLE VIP POINTS: The most notable promotion this month is the return of Double VIP Points for LEGO VIP members from March 14th to the 29th. Which basically means that whatever you buy will earn you twice as much in VIP Points (i.e.: $5 for every $50 you spend). This is LEGO’s way of helping out the Easter Bunny. And talking about Easter, there is also a very sweet new LEGO Easter set called #40121 LEGO Painting Easter Eggs. You can find it under the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

2015 LEGO MARVEL SUPER HEROES SETS: The #76042 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SHIELD Helicarrier is finally available for non-LEGO VIP members! This humongous set is the latest in the Ultimate Collector’s Series, and looks really good. (You can find a link at the end of this post to the full review, along with the motorized version.) Please note that the LEGO SHIELD Helicarrier is currently shown with a bit of delayed shipping as LEGO VIP fans cleared it out last month during the early access period. However you can still order it, and you may just have to wait a few days until it gets shipped out. In my experience backordered sets still ship quickly, and usually much faster than the expected ship date mentioned. You can find it under the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

#76042 LEGO SHIELD Helicarrier Available Now

Besides the LEGO SHIELD Helicerrier that are other great sets this month, including; #76041 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Hydra Fortress, #76032 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Avengers Quinjet City Chase, #76038 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Attack on Avengers Tower, #76031 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Hulk Buster Smash, and more. You can find them all under the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

2015 LEGO NINJAGO SETS: The long-awaited new wave of LEGO Ninjago sets are finally here! These are related to the current season of the LEGO Ninjago TV show that is a particularly enjoyable series. I especially like the bare-chested and tattooed badguys! You can find all the new sets under the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop Ninjago

2015 LEGO ULTRA AGENTS SETS: This is the second wave of another very popular theme with high-tech agents, spies, drones and cyber-criminals. They all come with a lot of play-value, a great range of minifigures, and lots of cool details and transforming features. They are just as awesome as LEGO’s licensed sets but without the higher price. You can find them all under the LEGO Ultra Agents section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Ultra Agents

2015 LEGO PIRATES SETS: Another brand new theme this month! LEGO Pirates are being brought back with five awesome sets for LEGO Pirates fans! Great color-scheme, updated minifigs (including bluecoats!) and a new pirate ship! And one of the best part? You can buy the entire range for less than $200! You can find all the new sets under the LEGO Pirates section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop LEGO Pirates Sets

2015 LEGO CITY SETS: LEGO City had a new wave last month, but the release of some of the new demolition vehicles got delayed. However now they are here! The LEGO City Demolition Site set is particularly great. Also don’t miss the fun LEGO City Service Truck with a port-a-potty. You can find all the sets under the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO City Sets

2015 LEGO JUNIORS SETS: This is a fairly new line for LEGO first introduced last year. Its target is younger kids who are transitioning from LEGO DUPLO to regular LEGO sets. They all contain normal LEGO minifigures, but the construction of the sets themselves are very easy. For adult LEGO fans the most interesting thing about this theme is that they contain many very nicely decorated elements, and they are all printed – there are zero stickers in these sets. The beach, pirate, and supermarket sets are particularly nice in this wave. You can find them all under the LEGO Juniors section of the Online LEGO Shop.

RETIRING LEGO IDEAS SET: Just a reminder that LEGO recently announced that the #21109 LEGO Ideas Exo Suit has been decommissioned last month. This means that while the set is still available, no more is going to be made. So if you want one, get one while you can. I have three. It is one of my all-time favorite sets. Great for LEGO Classic Space fans and those who like tinkering with mechs and greeblings. You can find it under the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop LEGO Ideas Exo Suit

In addition to the above mentioned deals and promotions, if you live near an official LEGO store, there are plenty of events you can participate in during the month. On March 3rd, the Monthly Mini Model Build will be a robot. From March 15th to April 26th there is a LEGO BIONICLE Target Game event where kids can build some of the BIONICLE characters and test their shooting skills. And from March 16th to April 19th, you can play with some of the new LEGO Elves sets. Also on March 21st and 28th kids can participate in the LEGO Club Meetings.

LEGO March Calendar Events

And remember that if you got the 2015 LEGO Wall Calendar that was offered previously, don’t forget to redeem the free LEGO Build-A-Minifig set coupon with any purchase during this month. And if you are shopping online, it is worth taking a look at the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop before you check out. There are some nice sets there with a good discount, and likely more will be added as they get retired.

So what do you think? Are you excited about this month’s offers and new releases? Are you planning to get any of the new sets? Which one or which ones? And which of the promotions are you most excited about? The BIONICLE mask? The LEGO Elves set? The Double VIP Points? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

    Happy St. David’s day! 🙂

  • BLProductions March 1, 2015, 1:50 PM

Finally, Ninjago and Ultra Agents! Will definitely be getting sets from those themes this year. 🙂 Besides that there’s not that much of interest to me, as I’m still debating on Elves. AND, you forgot something (though I expect that’s b/c you wrote this earlier): Speed Champions are out! Kind of odd timing, with no warning, but I’m surprised they got them up there considering the mess LEGO Shop US is in presently. But at least I can get the McLaren this month! 😛
On that build-a-minifig thing, those include 3 minifigs, right, not one? The calendar was a bit confusing on that point. 😕
Also, about the first line, there’s this saying I know to go with that: Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana. 😉

    • admin March 1, 2015, 2:06 PM

That’s really strange about Speed Champions! I even checked last night to see if they show up as “Coming on March 1st” sets, but they didn’t. So I was pretty certain they won’t be released today. All the other upcoming sets and even new themes were listed. Yeah, as you said the Online LEGO Shop can be pretty strange. 😕

      • BLProductions March 1, 2015, 2:57 PM

Well, currently the site’s a little haywire, because when they added the Marvel sets, all the sets, which are normally organized by number, were scattered out of their order. First time I’ve seen that happen, I just hope they’ll fix it. 😕 And I think that Speed Champions being out now is a good thing: we don’t have to wait so long! 🙂

        • admin March 2, 2015, 9:01 AM

Yeah, for sure it’s a good thing! I’m just surprised that they added everything else early, except that one. Sigh… I will never understand their logic… 😕

    • Håkan March 2, 2015, 10:10 AM

Usually, the custom minifig packs are in parts of three, but I don’t see any minifig builds in the calendar, just a mini model.

      P.S. Better Groucho than Grouchy!

      • BLProductions March 2, 2015, 12:09 PM

Yeah, that’s what I thought, since I got one from a LEGO Store a few years back. But I can’t be sure this time, as the coupon is so unclear. I’m not the only one, I found this discussion on Brickset about it: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/18891/are-the-coupons-from-the-2015-calendar-hard-to-redeem It seems it’s only one minifigure. Which is a bummer. 🙁
These coupons are on the LEGO 2015 Calendar, not the monthly calendars, but there is a reminder for it on the monthly ones. 😉
About your PS, I quite agree! 🙂

        • admin March 2, 2015, 12:15 PM

I find that promotion quite confusing too. I don’t have a LEGO store near me to confirm what it is they are giving away this month. I think the one figure would make more sense, but it is really not clear. I guess we just have to wait until we hear from someone who redeamed their cupon already.

          • Håkan March 2, 2015, 4:53 PM

According to the forum, the stores have interpreted the coupons differently… Some people were lucky and got three figs…

            • admin March 2, 2015, 5:01 PM

Ah… so that means LEGO is also confused about this! That’s funny! 🙄

  • Fikko3107 March 2, 2015, 7:18 AM

Has it been decreed that the Female Research Institute and Mars Curiosity Rover have already been discontinued? I’d very much still like one of each…

    • admin March 2, 2015, 9:03 AM

The Mars Curiosity has been retired a long time ago. The Research Institute can be found at some places, but as far as I know it is also officially retired. LEGO Ideas sets don’t stay around for long. Those are best to get right away.

  • Professor Bunny Productions. March 2, 2015, 12:08 PM

The most exciting promotion for me is the double V.I.P. points. I definitely want to get the Ultra Agents Drillex Diamond Job 70168 and either the Ninjago Jungle Raider 70755 or the to-be-released Ninjago Blaster Bike 70733.

  • Kim March 2, 2015, 1:09 PM

Is the chicken unique to the easter set? What about the egg pieces? I kind of want them for another project.

  • OTigger March 2, 2015, 9:12 PM

I bought the brick bounty today!!!! it is an awesome set…. there are plenty of play features…. nice minifigures…. good for display or playing….I love this set SO much…. also i noticed that they brought the ooooollllddd pirate captain back, they slightly changed his face, but its the same man, they even changed his name back….

    • admin March 3, 2015, 9:15 AM

That’s super awesome! Enjoy your Pirate Ship! 😀

      • Håkan March 3, 2015, 9:57 AM

There are many references to the original run, such as the blue imperial guards, and the map design.

  • Meneldur March 4, 2015, 9:57 AM

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH MAN!!!! I Love that Helicarrier! And the detailed minifigs! AW! I have to get that! It looks so realistic! Thank you LEGO!!!!!!!!! I’m so hyped about this. I’ve been waiting to a see an official pic of this for months…

  • NJKelly March 6, 2015, 6:16 AM

Hi! Does anyone know if the Double VIP Points promotion from 14-29 March is also available in the UK?
    Many thanks,
    Nick

    • admin March 6, 2015, 9:18 AM

Nick, I looked through the offers for the UK, and I didn’t see them mentioning Double VIP Points.

      • NJKelly March 6, 2015, 1:50 PM

OK, thanks for confirming that. I’ll just have to be patient…

  • Fangtom March 6, 2015, 12:46 PM

over here in the uk if you buy the helicarrier you recive a winter soldier polybag.

    • admin March 6, 2015, 1:48 PM

Thanks for mentioning that. I was hoping that someone from the UK will clarify. Here we don’t get the Winter Soldier, so I guess there are plusses and minuses to both offers.

  • NJKelly March 14, 2015, 5:27 AM

For all UK readers, here’s a quick update on current UK Lego store/online orders:
    – Double VIP points on all orders placed between 14-29 March
    – As Fangtom mentions above, a free Winter Soldier with each Helicarrier ordered
    – Free Elves Azari’s Magic Fire polybag with all orders over £25 (not just Elves)
The offers do not appear to be mutually exclusive.
    Best wishes to all,
    Nick

    • admin March 14, 2015, 9:38 AM

Nick, thanks for sharing that. I was hoping someone from the UK will update us. Thanks again! 🙂
