LEGO Friends Snow Resort sets review

Some of the sweetest LEGO sets released this year are from the LEGO Friends Snow Resort collection. They have been available in the UK and Europe for some time now, but North America just got the recently – just in time for the fall/winter holidays. Below, we will take a look at all five sets in the LEGO Friends Snow Resort series. 🙂

Just like the name of the collection suggests, all five LEGO Friends Snow Resort sets are centered around winter fun and sports. The overall color-scheme is turquoise, dark-pink and white, with reddish-brown used for the buildings to mimic wood. The collection includes small, medium, and large sets to fit every price range and budget. The series is also an excellent source of LEGO Friends mini-dolls in winter outfits. If you prefer minifigs, most of the sets can be used for them as well with minor modifications. First, we will talk about each of the sets separately, then I will also include a time-lapse building video at the end by Paul from All-New-Bricks, and he will also show you the play-features of the sets.

#41319 LEGO FRIENDS SNOW RESORT HOT CHOCOLATE VAN: If you already like and collect LEGO Friends, this is an excellent set to help transform Heartlake City into a wintery display with a couple of slides, two sleds and of course the all-important hot chocolate van. The interior of the van is particularly nice with lots of sweet accessories, and both mini-dolls come in new winter clothing. For regular minifigs, this set would not be a good option (at least in my opinion), as LEGO Friends vehicles are somewhat odd looking and unusually colored compared to LEGO City vehicles. Here is the official description: Drive and play in the hot chocolate van with rotating hot chocolate mug icon on top for all to see. Inside there’s a hot chocolate machine with whipped cream and cookies to sell. Outside there’s a table for customers and a double slide with 2 sledges for endless winter fun. Includes Mia and Amanda mini-doll figures in winter outfits. Hot chocolate truck measures over 4” (11cm) high, 4” (12cm) long and 1” (5cm) wide. 246 pieces. Price: $24.99 – BUY HERE

#41321 LEGO FRIENDS SNOW RESORT OFF-ROADER: This is the smallest set in the collection, including a vehicle, a small snowy slope, and a mini-doll. I would say that this is the weakest amongst all of the snow resort sets, as it doesn’t offer much play-value or collectability. In addition, it wouldn’t go well with regular LEGO minifigures due to the odd color and size of the vehicle. However, if you need more vehicles in Heartlake City, you may find that it’s just right. Here is the official description: This sporty SUV is perfect for traveling through snow. Open the trunk to pack your luggage, put your snowboard on the roof rack, or lift off the roof for easy play inside. This set also comes with a snowboarding ramp and rail so that Emma can practice her tricks like a pro. Includes an Emma mini-doll figure in a snowboarding outfit. Off-Roader measures over 2” (7cm) high, 4” (12cm) long and 1” (5cm) wide. 141 pieces. Price: $14.99 – BUY HERE

#41322 LEGO FRIENDS SNOW RESORT ICE RINK: Now we are getting into the more substantial sets category, but still for an affordable price. The building is mostly just a facade, but it looks nice and festive. The ice rink itself could easily be extended to make it larger. And I’m glad to see proper hockey sticks instead of the brick-built ones we have been getting in some of the previous winter sets (not that I mind brick-built, but the brick-built hockey sticks just don’t look that good). This set is also perfect for converting to fit into a LEGO City or LEGO Winter Village setting. All you need to do is replace some of the brighter colors like hot-pink and turquoise, with something more traditional and wintery like white, red, and green. The set also comes with lots of nice little accessories. Here is the official description: Take to the ice with the LEGO Friends Snow Resort Ice Rink, featuring an outdoor rink with opening doors, hockey goals and a seating area. Give a performance on the revolving stage at the skating lodge, hire hockey and skating equipment and buy yourself a treat at the pretzel shop. There’s even a tree where a friendly bunny lives. Includes Stephanie and Nate mini-doll figures in ice-skating outfits, plus a Moka the bunny figure. Ice rink measures over 1” (5cm) high, 4” (12cm) wide and 3” (9cm) deep. Skating lodge measures over 4” (12cm) high, 7” (19cm) wide and 1” (4cm) deep. 307 pieces. Price: $29.99 – BUY HERE

#41323 LEGO FRIENDS SNOW RESORT CHALET: This set is gorgeous both inside and out, and would go perfectly not just with the LEGO Friends collection, but also with the LEGO Winter Village series. From the front, the building looks like a proper chalet, and even the colors are quite normal. The open style back is full of lovely accessories, and is perfect for play. If you want a closed building, you should be able to continue the walls and add more roof elements, or you might even consider converting the chalet into a swing-open style used in many LEGO buildings. Here is the official description: The LEGO Friends Snow Resort Chalet has an outdoor hot tub, kitchen and a lounge area with log fire. Upstairs there’s a bedroom with 3 beds, vanity and a dog bed. There’s also a cool snowmobile for exploring and a cute husky puppy to look after. Includes Andrea and Amy mini-doll figures in winter outfits, plus a Luna the husky figure. Chalet measures over 5” (15cm) high, 6” (16cm) wide and 5” (15cm) deep. 402 pieces. Price: $39.99 – BUY HERE

#41324 LEGO FRIENDS SNOW RESORT SKI LIFT: A large, fully detailed and fully functioning ski lift for a great price! This is definitely the ultimate winter sports play-set with so many opportunities for both boys and girls, and for minifigs and mini-dolls! While there is a small slope included already, there is no reason why you can’t extend it as long as you want with either white LEGO plates, a white sheet, or even real snow! If you have more of those large beams, you can even extend the ski lift for longer slopes. Here is the official description: The LEGO Friends Snow Resort Ski Lift is the ultimate winter sports resort for the friends from Heartlake City. Enjoy the mountaintop restaurant, working ski lift, ski slope sliding function, rock climbing wall, ski hire stand, trail map and the little bear with his own slope and mountain cave. There are enough activities to keep you busy all winter! Includes Mia and Olivia mini-doll figures in skiing outfits, plus a Biscuit the bear cub figure. Ski resort including lift and slope measures over 7” (20cm) high, 15” (39cm) wide and 9” (24cm) deep. 585 pieces. Price: $59.99 – BUY HERE

From the five sets, I would say that the last two are some of the best LEGO Friends sets we have ever gotten, and both for a very affordable price. The smaller sets are not as exciting, but they could still be a nice addition, especially if you would like to get a good mix of LEGO Friend characters in winter outfits. If you would like to get any of the sets before the end of the year, I would suggest you get them early, as they could likely sell out as we get closer to Christmas. You can find them under the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Friends Snow Resort collection? Do you have any of the sets already? Or are you planning to get them? Which one is your favorite? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

The Ski Lift is a really good set. There is so much playability, and the parts are great. I’m very surprised about the low price given the size.

The piece-count actually matches the price, but because the set is so spread out, it looks bigger than the piece-count would suggest. A great set for sure! 😀

We will definitely get some of these for Christmas. The Jungle collection from a couple of years ago, the amusement park collection, and these sets are all lovely. The only one we didn’t like so far is the pop star sets. They just weren’t as relatable for our kids.

Yeah, unless you live in California, pop star sets are probably not so relevant. 🙄

I wish the Friends sets weren’t in the girls’ izle, making boys think that these sets are just for girls. They really are great.

Not all stores separate them, but that’s a good point about the ones that do. The Toys’R’Us stores I have been have them together with the other sets, but stores like Wal-Mart keep separate boys and girls isles.
