LEGO Star Wars Anniversary Sets & More!

I know many of you are curious about the new LEGO Star Wars sets, so I thought to have an overview of them all in one place, so we can easily discuss them. There are three new LEGO Star Wars Action Battle sets, three LEGO Star Wars regular sets, and five LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary sets, so there is quite a bit to talk about. Fortunately, JANGBRiCKS published reviews on all of them already, so we can take a look at all the details, play-features, and minifigures in each of the sets. So, let’s take a closer look. 🙂

The idea with the LEGO Star Wars Action Battle sets is that each of the sets has two opposing sides (imperials and rebels) with targets attached to them. Kids can pick the side they want to play, build the vehicles and minifigures, and then use the LEGO Technic cannons to hit the targets of the opponent. Sounds fun, isn’t it? The three LEGO Star Wars Action Battle sets are the #75238 LEGO Star Wars Action Battle Endor Assault, the #75239 LEGO Star Wars Action Battle Hoth Generator Attack, and the #75241 LEGO Star Wars Action Battle Echo Base Defense. From the three sets, the last one is clearly the best in terms of value, design, and playability. If you are interested, watch the video-reviews below of all three sets to see how they work. You can find all three sets at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The three regular LEGO Star Wars sets include the #75236 LEGO Star Wars Duel on Starkiller Base, the #75240 LEGO Star Wars Major Vonreg’s TIE Fighter, and the #75242 LEGO Star Wars Black Ace TIE Interceptor. All three sets have some plusses and minuses, so make sure you check out the video-reviews below for details. My favorite is the gorgeous red and black TIE Fighter! All three are available at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary collection celebrates the release of some of the first and most iconic LEGO Star Wars sets. Each of them features a printed 20th anniversary minifigure display stand, which can be connected to each other to create a full display. Also, notice that each set includes a special 20th anniversary minifig with a logo on their back, and some of them have the original yellow skin! The collection includes the #75243 LEGO Star Wars Slave I – 20th Anniversary Edition, the #75258 LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Podracer – 20th Anniversary Edition, the #75259 LEGO Star Wars Snowspeeder – 20th Anniversary Edition, the #75261 LEGO Star Wars Clone Scout Walker – 20th Anniversary Edition, and the #75262 LEGO Star Wars Imperial Dropship – 20th Anniversary Edition. As you will see in the video-reviews below, the sets are fantastic and definitely worth collecting. You can find them at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

And that wraps up the 2019 spring releases for the LEGO Star Wars line. I think the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary sets are definitely worth it. The rest is a mixed bag, so it just depends on which vehicles, minifigs, and play-features you like the most.

What do you think? How do you like the new LEGO Star Wars sets? Do you have any favorites? Are you planning to get any of them? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

I’m looking at the clone scout walker and the death star escape sets. I may get multiples of the Scout Walker. Other than that it’s just too expensive for me.

      Those are good choices! 😀

Really thinking this was a huge marketing miss. 5 sets? Why not one for each film branded for the 20th anniversary?

I already bought the Scout Walker set and feel thats the best value. For any adult or kid who wants to build up a little army, it’s a winner. It’s a healthy mix of builds to create a mini moc for a kid. Snow speeders and Slave 1’s go away please. The drop ship while I cannot thinkmof whst it references has a good fig ratio—it’s a lil bit juicer battle pack. The pod racer is not my thing but it’s been a while and it comes with a Lando—African American diversity is uncommon in LEGO minifigs heads so ++ for that.

Sorry for typos—replied from mobile—fat finger, lol. Also, stand corrected, the pod racer comes with Luke… the Snow Speeder comes with Lando.

Not just that, but the Podracer includes those awesome clear Technic beams! I think the set is worth it just for those! And I agree, they could have done better for the 20th anniversary.

Yeah this is not a great selection of choices for the anniversary sets.. why another Slave 1… why Lego?
    Snow Speeder… no, wrong- boring!
The drop ship is also just..why, what… no.

If lego wants to know why they don’t feel connected with their customers then maybe they should first learn how to listen.
It’s not rocket science, just start thinking about what people actually want not what you want is to want.

Let’s start with a Tamtive IV as an anniversary set or maybe a bust of DarthVader… wait there is one, how can I… oh wait no I live on the Netherlands- ah forget it then.

There is actually a discussion on the Ambassador forum right now getting feedback on whether the LEGO company is disconnected from their fans. Your response echoes the thoughts of many others.

And today a Tantive IV “UCS-ish” Set has just been revealed. Looks pretty similar to the 2009 version, with the addition of Bail Organa.

I agree. The the prices and set pieces are ridiculous. The thing is though it’s star wars and Lego got them selves a cash cow, of course a cash cow when she gets old and she dies. Here’s another thing , people are catching on. One thing I learned is that if you can’t afford it don’t buy it. Like I said it’s star wars and you can probably put a Star Wars label on some farm manure and it would still sell.💩

    • jgiese626 April 7, 2019, 12:49 AM

Farm manure? Even the Star Wars label couldn’t sell that. Authentic Bantha dung on the other hand…

      • admin April 7, 2019, 1:57 PM

Yep, it got to be authentic SW! 😀

    • admin April 7, 2019, 1:55 PM

LOL! This reminds me that when the stock price of a company goes up, many other companies with similar names also get a boost in their stock prices.

There is an art of keeping balance between fans being excited for a product and burning them out. Many companies keep pumping out more and more of what’s popular right now, and don’t know when to stop. They focus on short-term gains, over building a solid and happy fan-base for years or even decades to come.

Unfortunately, LEGO also jumped on this bandwagon in recent years, pumping out way too many Mixels, BrickHeadz, collectible minifigs, etc. This is another reason fans feel like LEGo isn’t listening, like Hippie-Hudson mentioned.

  • Legostuff14 April 7, 2019, 2:21 PM

We as fans can stop them by not buying the product. It may take a while for it to sink in to the Lego company, but , here’s the thing Lego is one of the greatest hobbies to get into and so whether it’s a repeat set or not fans are going to buy it because of the popularity and quality of the product. Lego knows this. Just listen to your income if you can’t afford it don’t buy it. It’s not the end of the world “the force is with us”.Lol!🤔 you’re right about authentic Star Wars so how about bantha💩. Lol!

  • Legostuff14 April 7, 2019, 2:52 PM

Oops! Bantha dung was already used. How about rancor💩. Of course you’re going to need a big shovel. Lol!
