LEGO Pirates of Barracuda Bay Available Again!

I know many LEGO fans in North America have been frustrated by the perpetual out of stock status of the #21322 LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay set, so here is a bit of good news for you; it is now available on backorder! This means we still have to wait, but we can at least purchase!

LEGO has been struggling to keep new and popular sets in stock due to the issues created by the virus. They usually allow backorders when they know new stock is on its way and orders can be fulfilled within a reasonable waiting period (usually 30 days or less). However, when the waiting period is likely going to be longer, they mark sets as out of stock without the ability to add them to your shopping cart. They do this to make sure customers aren’t frustrated by excessively long waiting periods.

However, due to the current circumstances, and people understanding that longer wait times are now the norm, many people rather have the ability to place an order, and just wait it out. At least that way they know they are in line and will have their order fulfilled eventually.

The currently listed wait time for the #21322 LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay is 60 days. This means, that if you place an order now, the set will be shipped to you in 60 days or less. If you purchase other items at the same time that are shown as in stock, they will be shipped right away. My last order with five small sets came in four separate packages. This does seem excessive, but the LEGO fulfillment center is trying to juggle availability, logistics, and keeping customers happy.

Besides the ability to backorder sets with longer waiting periods, the Online LEGO Shop now also allows you to sign up for email notification when an out of stock/backordered item is back in stock again. Please note that signing up for a notification is intended as a one-time communication only and will not sign you up for ongoing email marketing, etc. Those already subscribed to receive email communication in other ways (i.e. they are LEGO VIP members) may receive addition emails about the set and sets from other themes, but that’s about it. LEGO is very good at not bombarding their fans with unnecessary marketing emails. You can sign up for notifications at each item’s page.

If you do have some sets in mind that you would like to get before the end of the year, I recommend that you place an order as soon as possible even if it has a longer waiting period. At least your order will be in lone, and you don’t risk missing out the next time it’s back in stock again. This is especially true with popular sets like the #21322 LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay.

If you would like to learn more about #21322 LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay, I have included links to our review and other relevant articles in the comment section below. But to summarize, its a super fun set that would delight young and old pirate fans alike. It features a small island with a repurposed shipwreck, where the legendary pirate Redbeard and his gang retired after their adventures. The shipwreck can be reconfigured into a fully functioning pirate ship, inspired by the Black Seas Barracuda, one of the most famous LEGO Pirate ships from 1989. If you’re interested, you can find it at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay? Are you one of the lucky ones who have it already? Feel free to share your thoughts and reviews in the comment section below!

I’ve ordered it a week ago and now I get to wait until it ships out which it be on the 28th or the 29th this month. I can’t wait to get it and build it. It was a fluke thing I looked on the Lego web site (ideas) Monday morning and it was backordered but yet available to order so I jumped on it.😁

So, I looked on Lego ideas and the Pirates of Barracuda Bay set it’s being shipped on August 10th. I ordered the set Monday afternoon or evening and it said shipped out July 28th or 29th. Does that change the shipping time is it still going to be shipped out on the time they said when I made the order?

Since you ordered the earlier, and you were already given a shipping date, shipping should happen on that day. If anything changes they will be updating you. It’s a great set, a fun build! I’m glad you were able to get it! 🙂

I would love to get this set! It looks so much fun!

Some people say they don’t like the ship, but I think it’s wonderfully done. I would argue that it’s even better than the original Black Seas Barracuda, but I may get bricks thrown at me for saying that. Haha.

Thank you, Thita ( admin) for answer my question. I think Lego wouldn’t put out the date of shipping if they didn’t think they could do it on that date. That’s probably why they change the date every few days because Lego has limited amount of sets to send on certain days and if they meet their quota if you will they have to extend the days or change the date. That makes sense. Now if only I can decide between Harry Potter sets or Star Wars sets that are coming up fairly soon, but that’s another can of worms to deal with some other time. LOL!🤔

Yeah, some cool sets supposed to be coming out in both lines. Also, I’m hearing rumors that Hidden Side may be retiring after this last wave. It’s sad, as it was a great theme. Anyway, if the rumor is indeed true, it might be worth looking at those sets as well. Perhaps they may even go on sale! 🙂

That’s definitely happening. I wasn’t overly interested in the Hidden Side sets but when I started finding some of them at half price at some WalMarts I couldn’t help myself, Picked up the Shrimp Shack, Stunt Truck, and Intercept Bus all at half price yesterday. Keep your eyes open!

Yeah, they come with really good parts, and some of the sub-assemblies are great too. My favorites are the Diner and the little boat, but the other sets have some great parts/designs too. Awesome that you were able to find them at half price! That’s a steal just for the parts! 🙂

  • Legostuff14 July 19, 2020, 6:31 PM

Yeah, I heard that to about hidden side retiring. I may skip hidden side this time just because it’s really no difference in the theme except for this time it does have a better bad guy and you actually get the bad guy in this next wave. If any thing I’ll get the mystery castle because it can easily be changed to Wayne’s Manor. I’ve also decided that starting next year I’m still serious about cutting back on my collection( sad but true). It will be hard . I may need some moral support. Lol! As for the Harry Potter sets, attack on the burrow is so much better than the old one and even though I have the old one I’m very tempted to get the new one when it comes out. I would believe that Harry Potter sets would be a lot harder to come by than some Star Wars sets. I have time to think about it

My personal favorite parts are Parker Jackson’s freckled head and lavender hair… I might possibly buy a separate PJ fig on Bricklink later…

(That hair with headphones part might be more useful if I am to build some space communication central, I guess… A bunch of computers and staff with headphones on…)

    • Thita (admin) July 20, 2020, 8:02 PM

I have been thinking of building a space communication center myself! I love all those minifig hair/headphone combos! 😀

      • Håkan July 20, 2020, 9:56 PM

And lavender hair is almost a plus when it comes to scifi settings!
