LEGO minifigures series 11 – first pictures!

LEGO fans have been busy hunting for LEGO Minifigs Series 10 – especially Mr. Gold – (see links at the end of this post), but there is also a lot of curiosity of what Series 11 will bring. What we have known previously is that LEGO Minifigures Series 11 will include the following: a Yeti, an Evil Mech, a Welder, a Female Robot, a Jazz Musician, a Constable, a Holiday Elf, a Bavarian Lady, a Scarecrow, a Mountain Climber, a Grandma, a Tiki Warrior, a Gingerbread Man, a Barbarian, a Dinner Waitress, and a Female Scientist. An interesting line-up, isn’t it? 🙂

LEGO Minifigures Series 11

Although we don’t yet have pictures of all of the LEGO minifigures in Series 11, there are a couple of images posted recently by Brickshelf member ajdken2010 that confirms five of the minifigures from the upcoming series; the Evil Mech, the Female Scientist, the Yeti, the Female Robot, and the Welder. Here is a bit closer shot to see the details better.

LEGO Minifigures Series 11 Details

The LEGO Minifigures Series 11 Evil Mech is a perfect antagonist for the orange and white Mech released in Series 9. The Female Scientist can help out the Mad Scientist from Series 4, and the Female Robot might hook up with the cute Robot from Series 6.  The Welder can join the other hardworking minifigs in previous series, and the Yeti… well, he can just munch on his popsicle all by himself. I don’t think he would mind though; Yetis are lonely creatures. 🙄

LEGO Minifigures Series 11 Pairs

I have to say I love the Evil Mech and the Welder. But my most favorite is the Yeti; he is just so irresistibly cute – in a cute monster way. How about you? What do you think of the list of upcoming Series 11 Minifigures? Which ones are you looking forward the most? And how do you like the ones on the pictures? Feel free to share in the comment section below. 😉

Heh, cool. I was reading through the “LEGO marketplace Bricklink sold to Nexon” post two minutes ago and I saw the time: 10:00. So I clicked on latest news and here was the latest post. Cool. I never experienced that before. Neato! More minifigs. I just got the Minifigure Encyclopedia and it’s pretty cool. No Mr. Gold though. 😥 I doubt I’ll ever find him. Still, these new Minifigures are awesome. I have kind of stalled out on collecting them but hopefully now I’ll restart collecting more. 🙂 So how many of you commenters have Minifigures….and how many of you have Mr. Gold?

    • admin June 12, 2013, 10:38 AM

Yeah, new posts are always scheduled for 10:00 AM EST. No Mr. Gold here, but I never even bothered looking for him. Just thinking about driving 30 minutes and getting into a store and start hunting… I’m so not a shopper… 🙄

    • ninja of stealth June 12, 2013, 11:48 AM

I don’t have Mr. Gold (unfortunately 🙁 ) but i do have the grandpa, biker mechanic guy. my sister has the trendsetter and the tomahawk warrior. ( and too many pilots from series… four I think.)

      • Meneldur son of Garamar June 12, 2013, 11:51 AM

      • Meneldur son of Garamar June 12, 2013, 2:06 PM

Sorry, what does CMF stand for?

        • admin June 12, 2013, 2:49 PM

It’s a short for the Collectible Minifigures. 😀

          • Fikko3107 June 13, 2013, 1:23 AM

I have like about 60 or so CMFs.

Ryan, Bricklink is the best palce to pick up minifigs. 😉

  • Noahnace10 June 12, 2013, 10:12 AM

Cool! I really like the yeti! 😛

    • Legoman640 June 17, 2013, 1:44 PM

The yeti could be a friend of Chewbacca.

  • ntk743 June 12, 2013, 10:49 AM

Lol! I was just oboist to this an article about
    Series 11!

  • JediToa June 12, 2013, 11:20 AM

  • Mrs. Kathy Maginn June 12, 2013, 12:00 PM

i have some lego’s from my grandson from over 20 years ago. where do i find prices since don’t know names of the darn things from when i bought them so long ago. have big board and small storage area with some briks and little people. can you help me please

    • admin June 12, 2013, 12:17 PM

Kathy, do you find any instructions with what you have? Every LEGO set has an identification number printed both on the instructions and the box. That number would be very valuable to figure out what you have. If not, then I will have some other ideas of how you can proceed.

      • Håkan June 12, 2013, 5:48 PM

You could also just photograph the whole bunch, try to keep the minifigs and “cool-looking” pieces in the forefront, and do a bulk sale on EBay or something.

        • admin June 12, 2013, 6:34 PM

Yes, that would definitely be a possibility, however if there is some really rare stuff in that bunch separating those out before dumping the rest on eBay can make a big difference. 😉

          • Håkan June 13, 2013, 6:27 AM

You could start with a quick reasoning of how much work you are willing to put down, how quickly you are hoping to get rid of what you have, and how much money you are hoping to get for your work. After evaluating that, we could give you further advice on how to go on.

      • katy maginn June 13, 2013, 4:26 PM

no instructions with the stuff.. this kid was 10 at the time i believe. they need to have a picture directory. the board is 16×16 I think.. storage area it fits on. i will keep on looking and get back to you.

        • admin June 13, 2013, 4:36 PM

Katy, it sounds like you are talking about a LEGO storage unit, not a set, or perhaps the mixture of both. If you send me a picture I can identify it for you. From the description it looks something like these: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=2745storc01, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=LPC303

Also, please note that there are third-party manufacturers who make storage unit that are compatible with both LEGO and other building sets, but they are not official LEGO products. Anyway, if you send me a picture it would be easier to identify. 😉

        • Håkan June 13, 2013, 7:57 PM

16×16, is that inches or studs?

          • admin June 13, 2013, 8:17 PM

I had that same question. I’m in touch with Katy b email. 😉

  • Micho June 12, 2013, 12:27 PM

Oh man!!! I hadn’t even thought about Series 11… It looks way better than Series 10 though. This is my favorite series in the year because the Day after Xmas I can go to WalMart and pick up two full boxes of these for $120 or more if they are available, because usually they mark down the minifigs to $1.00. OOOH I LOVEEEE The Yeti!!!!!… I have all of my brother’s Ice Planet sets in a box inside a closet, the Yeti would look great with these, I wish they would have made the popsicle bright transparent Orange so it would go completely with the color scheme of Ice Planet.

By the way, the Avenger’s Quinjet is the best LEGO set I have ever owned, I didn’t realize how cool it was. Even my wife can’t stop looking at it, and she is not a big LEGO fan (she’s only a big fan of me reselling LOL). I still can’t believe I got a $70 set for $15, it was well worth the wait.

    • admin June 12, 2013, 5:25 PM

Micho, yeah, you really lucked out on that one! I was just looking at that set yesterday at WM. It wasn’t on sale, but it looked great! 🙂

      • Chris of Yoda Archives June 12, 2013, 8:38 PM

Still regular price here as well.

        • admin June 13, 2013, 9:57 AM

Yeah, I guess the sale was regional? 😕

          • Micho June 13, 2013, 7:54 PM

Keep an eye on it once in a while, because I tell you… it just made Marvel Superheroes my favorite theme after Castle.
            It used to be:
            Castle, POTC, Pirates
            Now it’s:
Castle, Marvel Super Heroes, POTC, Pirates

            • admin June 13, 2013, 8:18 PM

Hm… are you trying to hook me up with Super Heroes? I have been trying to avoid that theme. It’s gonna be all your fault. 🙄

              • Micho June 15, 2013, 1:52 AM

I guess I am doing that subconsciously LOL… I have the two sets all over the house to stare at LOL

  • Meneldur son of Garamar June 12, 2013, 2:21 PM

Hmm, I’m wondering where the Olympic Minifigure series is? I thought it was supposed the come out sometime this year.

    • admin June 12, 2013, 2:48 PM

They came out a long time ago, but they were only released in the UK. I wrote about them several times in the LEGO Minifigures section. You can get them on Bricklink though. I only got the boxer so I have someone to fight my red boxer. 😉

      • The brick guy June 12, 2013, 3:04 PM

I got all of them apart from the archer……………..

        • Meneldur son of Garamar June 12, 2013, 3:15 PM

I have two red boxers so I don’t really have to have more.

          • ntk743 June 12, 2013, 4:58 PM

Maneldur, if you are interested in talking to me about contributing please just go to our contact page on Ninja of Ninjago. Thanks! 🙂

            • Meneldur son of Garamar June 12, 2013, 6:18 PM

Alright. Thanks, ntk743. I just recently checked out your contact page and I like your site.

              • Håkan June 13, 2013, 6:29 AM

I read that there was a community site online enabling you to swap minifigs. It might work best if you’re a US citizen, perhaps.

                • admin June 13, 2013, 10:07 AM

Yeah, I now about that site too, but I never tried it. Might look at it again, although for me the whole idea of swapping is just too time-consuming. I rather just sell quickly and buy what I want quickly, instead of trying to hunt down a person who wants exactly what I have, and have exactly what I want. 🙂

  • enigma badger June 12, 2013, 3:17 PM

    “Holiday Elf”

    He has a name: Crumpet

  • brick addict June 12, 2013, 4:06 PM

awesome yeti i cant wait to get my hands on al of them. 😀

  • LWC guy June 12, 2013, 4:27 PM

    Tiki warrior? Yeah New Zealand!!!

    • admin June 12, 2013, 5:23 PM

Yeah, I can’t wait for that one! 😀

    • Geoff Houtman June 13, 2013, 7:39 PM

      Don’t say that out loud!

Remember the last time Lego used Maori names?

      • Håkan June 14, 2013, 7:01 AM

I think the criticism felt very strange. Clearly a company has the right to name its products with words from foreign languages and take inspiration from foreign myths.

  • tgb.legoguy June 12, 2013, 4:28 PM

I think that the welders mask would be great for an iron man mark 1 custom mini figure

    • admin June 12, 2013, 5:23 PM

That, my friend, is a brilliant idea! 😀

    • Micho June 13, 2013, 7:57 PM

OOOOOOH YEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! You are one smart dude!!!

  • Nicole June 12, 2013, 4:39 PM

So excited for series 11!! The yeti and Welder are my favorites but if the rest are anything like those then I’m going to have to hunt down the entire series. I love the weird and unusual minifigures.

  • Fluttershy June 12, 2013, 5:40 PM

Hmmm. Interesting minifigs for now. But. How about something liiike. Mr
    Platinum.

For me the Yeti can hang out with the Wampas.

    • admin June 12, 2013, 6:31 PM

I actually read somehwere that there is going to be an exclusive minifig with this series as well. I don’t know who LEGO fans will feel about that. 😕

      • ryan June 18, 2013, 3:25 PM

the exclusive minifigure acording to my friend says it will be a toy soldier but i have that one also have mr gold!!!!! i feel so happy plus it was the first pack i bought and im only 11

        • admin June 18, 2013, 9:50 PM

Ryan, I think your friend is mistaken. The Toy Soldier is a DK book exclusive. 😉

          • ryan June 22, 2013, 4:00 PM

ye i agree but maybe a different version

        • Håkan June 19, 2013, 2:28 PM

          Congratulations on finding Mr. Gold!

  • Håkan June 12, 2013, 5:57 PM

As a Swedish child song went “Jag är en yeti, inte kreti och pleti” – or, as Admin apparently knew some German “Ich bin ein Yeti, nicht Krethi und Plethi”.

In English it would be “I’m a Yeti, no Tom, Dick or Harry”, but it doesn’t quite got the same ring to it…

  • Jacob June 12, 2013, 7:55 PM

The yeti looks a little too silly for my tastes, but I still have the One form Orient Expedition and the Wampa, so they will work for anything more serious. The Mech looks like it may be affiliated with Blacktron. Even if its not, it should be easy to modify to make look like it is. The welder and the Scientist are my favorites. The welder has two new parts which both look great, and the Scientist is a female with glasses and two new vials. I really don’t care for the female robot or gingerbread man much and hope they are less frequent. All the others on the list I think I’ll like, though I would like to see the the waitress being a 50’s Style diner waitress with roller-skates. I really hope the distribution will be more even than the past two. I have yet to met a single person to actually want a skydiver (6per box), but a large number of people seem to want the bumble bee and Medusa (I believe both are two per box).

    • admin June 13, 2013, 9:56 AM

Jacob, yeah, the Mech has the Blacktron logo on his chest if you look closer. 😉

      • Micho June 13, 2013, 7:59 PM

NICE!!! When I was young I though Blacktron was good and Mtron was bad, I guess it was the other way around

        • Håkan June 13, 2013, 8:15 PM

Officially, yeah. Blacktron were implied to be the villains at least since the Space Police theme of 1989 (where Blacktron astronauts were shown either imprisoned or being led forward with their hands raised up).

During the late 80’s and 90’s, there used to be a recurring theme of three factions (at least implied), one “good faction” keeping order, one “bad faction” taking the villain’s role, and one “neutral faction” involved in exploration and science (Unitron was barely released outside the U.S. though) . Thus, Blacktron was interpreted as the bad guys, and M-Tron as neutral.

          • Micho June 15, 2013, 1:54 AM

Unitron was soooo cool when it came out.

            • Håkan June 15, 2013, 8:04 AM

Unitron was never marketed as a separate faction in Europe, afaik. Only the “Space Explorers” minifig pack and the Monorail set was sold here. Roboforce was never released at all.

  • Chris of Yoda Archives June 12, 2013, 8:37 PM

I like all the ones that are pictured. I think the Yeti is neat but cartoonish, like from monsters Inc or the old Christmas specials. I would have preferred a more realistic look to it.
My wife works in a lab so I need a scientist for her. Lab coat, hair color and even the shirt color are right for her. I really want to see the Tiki Warrior.
As for series 10 I still Grand Pa and librarian.

    • Meneldur son of Garamar June 12, 2013, 8:47 PM

Ah, I see you noticed that the yeti looked like something from Monsters Inc. as well. By the way, did you hear about the Monsters University movie coming out?

    • admin June 13, 2013, 9:57 AM

I’m also looking forward to the Tiki Warrior. Just working on an army that I think would be a perfect home for him. 🙂

  • Fikko3107 June 13, 2013, 1:29 AM

Sigh…I’m beginning to feel 3 (or was it 4 ?) months per series is way too short. I’ve barely gotten a single series 8, then series 9 came out. I’ve only picked up a few series 9, then series 10 came out. Argh! I didn’t have this problem, I’m not sure why, with series 3 to 7. But then again, with series 7, I bought the complete set at In’s Place…

    • admin June 13, 2013, 9:58 AM

Others have complained about this as well. Having two series per year would allow them to be spread out more, would give us more time to find them, and would make them more special. 🙂

      • Håkan June 13, 2013, 8:01 PM

More of a kinder egg factor than a collector factor, perhaps. Marketing the new and surprising.

If the series are exchanged regularly, they remain fresh for the young kid crowd.

        • admin June 13, 2013, 8:16 PM

That’s also true. I guess we can’t have both ways. 😛

  • awesome June 13, 2013, 6:46 AM

admin in your first comment: Same here.
I hate shopping that takes over 5 minutes.

    • admin June 13, 2013, 10:09 AM

Yeah, tell me about it. I just like to go in, buy what I want and get out. Unless it’s Toys’R’Us LEGO aisle -that’s a whole different story. But every time I think about driving all the way there… that’s why I shop on Bricklink. 😉

      • Meneldur son of Garamar June 15, 2013, 3:01 PM

        LEGO “isle”?

        • Håkan June 15, 2013, 8:20 PM

No, “aisle”, like a passage with shelves on each side.

  • Bohrok Tru June 14, 2013, 1:44 AM

0.0….. seiries 11? nuuuuuu im still looking for Mr. Gold!!!!! 0.0 I’ve been to 31 stores sofar! and I’m not stopping now!

    • Håkan June 14, 2013, 5:08 AM

31 stores? Just don’t get obsessed with it…

  • Yura June 14, 2013, 3:37 PM

    • admin June 14, 2013, 4:47 PM

Hey, Yura, nice to have ya! Do we supposed to understand all of that? I did learn some Russian in high-school so I can at least make out that you are talking about the Series 10 minifigs you have, but that’s about it. 🙄

      • Håkan June 15, 2013, 5:34 AM

I tried to Google Translate it, adding a few comments when the translation was unclear. My Russian is limited to a one term class at the Swedish equivalent of community college, though, so even if the prose itself looked fairly simple, I might still have misunderstood some things.

        —-

I have a 15 minifigurok of 10 series. It will be a two-librarian, a biker, a servant with a gun, a woman with a dog, and cell phones, Piero (clown), paintballer, Indian with Topar (tomahawk?), warrior woman, baseball player, molar (?), knight, paratrooper, Captain, and jellyfish Gargon (Medusa). She is one of the most beloved chelovechik (minifig) 10 series and also I like the gold chelovechik (minifig), but I do not have it, deductible (sadlyyyyyy?) I do not have it, I still hope I will have exactly the grandfather and the bee. When you look at all do the same do not think I’m bragging but it is not

        • Håkan June 15, 2013, 5:43 AM

I think the “Molar” is the “Decorator”. I believe the word was borrowed from German malen (paint) or Maler (painter), somehow.

“A two-librarian” is probably Google Translateish for “two librarian(s)”.

I’m still confused by the word зачтооооо in this context , maybe “clearlyyyyy”.

        • admin June 15, 2013, 9:31 AM

Yeah, I got that general idea too. Love that “chelovechik” for minifigs! Very cute! 😀

          • Håkan June 15, 2013, 2:13 PM

From Chelovek (“Man, person”) and (-chik), diminutive ending, I guess it could be translated sort of like “mannie”.

Maybe Google Translate got confused due to misspellings and such, I believe both unstressed a and o was pronounced the same in Russian, so a misspelling is easy to interpret if you know Russian, but an automated translator would get thoroughly confused.

            • Håkan June 15, 2013, 5:37 PM

I double-checked with Google spellcheck, and the a/o confusion did indeed seem to be the case. That explains it. An easy mistake to make if you have just heard the words pronounced.

моляр -> маляр (molyar -> malyar) (painter)
топаром -> топором (toparom -> toporom) (with an axe)
медуза гаргона -> медуза горгона (meduza gargona -> meduza gorgona) (Medusa)

              • admin June 15, 2013, 8:02 PM

We are getting into this deep! But yeah, you are right. BTW, I love the Russian alphabet! I used to use it as secret writing when I was in high-school. 🙄

                • Håkan June 15, 2013, 8:26 PM

If someone’d be interested, there’s an article on Russian phonology on Wikipedia, but it might be easiest to say that both unstressed a and o would be pronounced like English “uh”. Seems to be a relatively common pronunciation and simple enough as a general rule. The other variant of the sound might be harder to emulate for English speakers.

Yeah, the Russian alphabet is kind of cool, although most of it was taken directly from the Greek. The Latin alphabet is also derived from the Greek, although the changes have been greater. (Lower case letters basically are different in all three alphabets, though.)

This discussion might be quite off-topic, though.

                  • admin June 16, 2013, 8:47 AM

                    It’s all right; a little off-topic I don’t mind amongst friends. 😉
