After Christmas LEGO sales & deals

As it is customary, one of the best times to buy LEGO sets on the cheap is rigth after Christmas. It is an excellent opportunity to pick up LEGO sets for yourself, as late-holiday gifts for others, or if you sell LEGO on Bricklink or eBay to support your hobby. So let’s talk about where are the best places to look, and compare notes on what we find! 😀

One of the obvious places to find after Christmas LEGO sales is of course at official LEGO stores as well as the Online LEGO Shop. If you have a LEGO store near you I would highly recommend stopping by. If not, check out the Sales & Deals Section at the Online LEGO Shop. LEGO’s after Christmas sale is usually 20% off, and as much as 50% off on seasonal items (if they are still in stock). Also, please note that the $10 promotional gift cards given out on “Brick Friday” are only valid until December 31st, so make sure you use it up before it expires. Visit the Online LEGO Shop HERE

Shop LEGO Ninjago

The next best place to look for LEGO sales is at local big-box stores that regularly carry LEGO. I highly recommend checking at Wal-Mart, Target and K-Mart. You can also check Toys’R’Us, although they are not known for having great deals after Christmas. Keep in mind that many times labels on the boxes and prices on the shelves will not be adjusted right away due to the after Christmas chaos, but you can take up the boxes to one of those price-checking thingies to get the most current price. It is a bit inconvenient, but the good thing about is that nobody else will know that LEGO is on sale so you don’t have to fight the competition. It’s all yours for the picking. 🙄

Shop LEGO The Hobbit

Online another place you can check is the Amazon LEGO Shop. In general Amazon’s prices are the best, and with free shipping over $35 and no tax to most states even a smallish deal can save you a bundle. Here is the link: Visit the Amazon LEGO Shop HERE

Those are the places I would check for after Christmas LEGO sales. If you find any good deals please report back to the rest of us. Members of the online LEGO community have been excellent at supporting each other in previous years. And it’s also really fun. I will update this page in the comment section as myself and others are finding LEGO sets on sale, and you can do the same. So grab your shopping gear and let’s go for the big hunt! 😉

First comment! an early post, interesting. I am totally getting the nindroid mechdragon, because I have enough money and its the only set I don’t have for the new series. 🙂

Nice! It is a very unique set so I think you will like it. 🙂

      • Lloydguy December 27, 2013, 9:22 AM

Yeah, I was asking for it for Christmas, but it didn’t come 🙁

Hey I’m getting the nindroid mech dragon too!

      • Lloydguy December 28, 2013, 5:34 PM

        Cool! 🙂

To many choices and not enough room. I need your opinion on something. 1) do I play catch up and buy the older set ( like marvel and other sets like that). or 2) buy the new sets that are out now( like the LEGO movie sets and or / the new batman sets.) I kind of have my heart set on the LEGO movie sets just because it is so unique to LEGO. What do you think.

    • admin December 26, 2013, 1:39 PM

I would always go with my heart… having said that, if there are some olders sets that you really like, and if you can find them on sale, yeah, go ahead and get them. I highly recommend The LEGO Movie sets though. I have built about half of them so far, and They are incredibly fun. I will start reviewing them starting this Sunday. 😉

        Where did you find them?

        • admin December 27, 2013, 1:47 PM

          From the LEGO Santa. 😉

          • Lloydguy December 27, 2013, 7:33 PM

            Ohh? What’s that mean?

            • admin December 28, 2013, 8:57 AM

You know; from the Santa who specializes in LEGO. BTW, even the official release date is tomorrow, the sets are available at most retailers by now. 😉

Ohh… I went 2 days ago but they didn’t have it

                • Lloydguy December 28, 2013, 5:36 PM

                  The LEGO store that is

                  • Lloydguy December 28, 2013, 5:45 PM

I just called my local LEGO store. They said they will be selling them tomorrow. I plan on hoping to be there early. I’m that dedicated. Plus Unikitty is cute and Wyldstyle has an awesome hood! (I want to get the Cloud Cuckoo Palace set 🙂 )

You just have to keep your eyes open. Different locations will get stocked on different days.

  • Beardless Dwarf December 26, 2013, 2:11 PM

Awesome! I’m thinking about Dol Guldur Battle and if it’s on sale I’ll probably get one of the older Hobbit sets or the Mirkwood Elves set.

I hit 3 Wal Marts and Target today, absolutely no sales at Wally. I asked an employee doing markdowns if they were going to mark down LEGO, he said “maybe later on, but we didn’t get any markdowns for today. I do think that they will be marked downs soon, but I don’t know exactly when” 🙁 . Target had a few 15% off and 2 or 3 30%, one was TLR Mine, which I really want, hope there’s 2 or 3 left for the 50% so I can snatch them all up. Not a good after Xmas sale this year like the previous 2 years, I’m very sad.

    • admin December 26, 2013, 4:57 PM

Oh, I was wondering if you will stop by today! You are a bargain-hunter like me, so I’m glad we can compare notes! 😀

I’m very surprized by the lack of LEGO sales this year. I’m not sure what it means. My understanding is that retailers are heavily competing over our dollars due the the slumping economy, but certainly not in the LEGO isle. BTW, my Wal-Mart was actually fully stocked with LEGO sets. It is not like the shelves were empty liek they usually are after the holidays. Few new City sets, but mostly 2012-13 sets. So I’m not sure why they are not putting them on sale. 😕

      • Micho December 26, 2013, 7:17 PM

Exactly!!!! Same thing on this side of the country… I’ll have to keep a constant eye on those Target sales since they change every week, it’s a pain to have to keep going back again and again, but I hope it pays off, I really had my heart set on getting the entire Lone Ranger line at 50% off this year 🙁 … but lets keep comparing notes these next few weeks 😀 … Hope dies last!!!

  • legostuff71 December 26, 2013, 4:49 PM

Thanks, Admin. I did break down and picked up and built one of the LEGO movie sets( the ice cream machine. It was worth it and I ‘m hooked. I am so weak.) Here is a thought, I think I’ll get the two western sets. So I can use my Lone ranger sets with that theme. Oh, and of course get the two main characters.

    • admin December 26, 2013, 4:58 PM

Good idea about the Western sets! Very nice parts, and very wacky (and fun!) building! 😛

The LEGO shop has some after Christmas deals, but I haven’t found anything beyond that. :/

  • Pinkly Taurus December 27, 2013, 7:28 PM

I doubt there will be many clearance sales this year. My research with retailers on the east coast suggests that they have sold out their older stock and now have 2014 sets on the shelves. But, your mileage may vary. So good luck.

Most of the stores you list had pre-Christmas sales, of older kits, in order to market the new stuff. (At least in my area.) I picked up hundreds of sets in mid-November at 30%-70% off.

    • admin December 28, 2013, 8:54 AM

Thanks for mentioning that! Yeah, looks like this was a great year for retailers as far as LEGO goes and they didn’t need to put the sets on clearance. My Wal-Mart ony has a couple of small 2014 LEGO City sets, but they tend to be behind anyway. Target did end up having a decent 30% sale on some of the smaller sets and 50% sale on all of the polybags in the seasonal section. I will check TRU today, not so much for sales, but to see if they have the Legend Beasts yet. 😉
