Series 12 of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures are now available at most LEGO retailers. However before we get into crushing bags to figure out which minifig is hiding inside, I would like to mention a couple of things; first of all the paper insert for this series contains a code that is different for each minifigure. This is because it is a code to unlock that particular minifig in the LEGO Minifigure Online Game. The game is free to play, so you might want to check it out at the LEGO Collectible Minifigures website.
Secondly, although I don’t often say you should go and buy the Collectible Minifigs at any particular place, for this series I would strongly suggest Target. Most other retailers like Toys’R’Us, Wal-Mart, Walgreens and even LEGO’s own shops, are selling them for about $4 each, whereas at Target you can find them at $3. This might change, so the sooner you can get them the better. To help you find them the DPCI number is #204-00-0261. Give this number to a Target employee and they can help look it up in the store’s inventory. Now, on to the feeling guide. 🙂
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Battle Goddess: Let’s get straight to the point. You want to find her spear. It is unique and easy to feel for. All of her other accessories can be mistaken for something else that belongs to another minifigure within the series. So just try to locate her spear and you are good to go. The are four Battle Goddesses in a full display-box. This should be a very popular minifigure with LEGO fans. Her torso, shield and helmet are all so unique.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Dino Tracker: You’ll probably run across the syringe (needle) first. However, this can be mixed up with the Space Miner’s drill (unicorn horn). So even though the flatness of the Dino Tracker’s bow may make it hard to pin it down, it is what you will want to search for. Another method is to find her hair-piece. The ponytail is rather large, and kind of feels like a LEGO Technic axle. Keep in mind that it is an identical piece to the Genie Girl’s hair, so once you locate it, see if the minifigure has normal legs that can move independently of one another. If they can, you found the Dino Tracker. There are four Dino Trackers in a full display-box.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Fairytale Princess: Start out by looking for her dress slope. Next you can either find the frog (which can feel like the Wizard’s diamond) or for her cone shaped hat. Once you find it, see if there is an odd tail-piece at the base of the hat – this will be her hair. She has a lot of similar pieces to the Wizard in this series, so you really have to be thorough and careful when searching for her. Make sure the package doesn’t contain a bar or a telescope, as those belong to the Wizard. There are three Princesses in a full display-box.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Genie Girl: This minifig may be easier to find by starting with the hair. Just like the Dino Tracker, her ponytail feels like a stiff bar attached to some excess piece at the end (her hair). Once you find that, search for the legs. She does not have legs that separate. You can also look for the lamp, but I would only recommend this if you have really sensitive fingers, since the lamp may feel like the Piggy Guy’s apple or the Space Miner’s gun. There are three Genie Girls in a full display-box.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Hun Warrior: This guy was very rare in the box I looked through, but you can start out by finding his round shield. If you can feel the stud on it you’re good. However, since the Battle Goddess also has a round shield, you may need to feel for the sword. It’s a traditional flat sword that has a “T” shaped cross-guard. There are three Hun Warriors in a full display-box, so this is one of the rarer minifigs to find, especially since it is an army-builder and most people would like multiplies.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Jester: Try to find both 1×2 tiles. If you can only find one, you’ll need to verify the minifigure’s identity by finding the hat. It’s a fairly unique hat with a lot of dimension to it. Just make sure it is not the very round hair-piece of the Video Game Guy. There are three Jesters in a full display-box, so this is another one of the rarer minifigures, although not an army-builder, so you should be able to find one if he has your lucky cards.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Lifeguard: The floaty feels like a small boat and the binoculars are easy to pick out. Between the two, I found the binoculars simpler to recognize with your fingers, but either will work well. There are three Life Guards in a full display-box. Although not an army-builder, the bare torso piece is usually popular with LEGO fans. Also the binoculars are in a brand new color which may make this minifig quite desirable.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Piggy Guy: The head-piece has a lot of texture to it. Unfortunately it can feel like just another massive helmet or hair. So this leaves the apple. It is not an ideal piece to feel for since it is very round and tends to slip away easily, and it can also be mistaken for a minifigure head. So if you find something that feels like a big helmet see if you can locate two pieces that feel like minifigure heads. With a bit of practice, you can confirm that there is a leaf and stem on the apple. Just expect to spend a bit more time with this one. There are four Piggy Guys in a full display-box.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Pizza Delivery Man: If you locate a 2×2 tile or a 2×2 round tile, then you’ve found this guy. It’s one of the easiest minifigures to find in the series. There are four Pizza Delivery Men in a full display-box. Although that’s one of the higher numbers, this guy is going to be very popular because of the new pizza piece as well as the pizza box. A very nice minifig with great accessories.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Prospector: The beard can feel quite strange to your fingers and kind of hard to identify. In the meantime the hat feels a bit like that of the Swashbuckler’s. So this leaves the pick-axe, which is rather large and hard to miss. Just make sure it feels like a big “T” and not a “Y” shape, which would be the Rock Star’s guitar. There are three Prospector minifigures in a full display-box.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Rock Star: This guy has a lot of hair, but it’s the guitar you want to search for to positively identify him. The guitar feels like a bar with two hard feathers sticking out at one end. The overall shape is that of the letter “Y”. There are four Rock Stars in a full display box, so he should be fairly easy to find. Both the guitar and the hairpiece will likely be very popular.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Space Miner: This minifig has a lot of accessories. You may run across his armor since it is so bulky, but that may be hard to make out. So either look for his gun that feels like a blow-dryer or the visor for his helmet. The visor is standard and feels like a big fingernail clipping. There are five Space Miners in a full display-box, so this is going to be one of the minifigs you will likely run accross most often.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Spooky Girl: Her hair is so rubbery that it alone will give her away. It’s the only piece in the entire series that really squishes and sticks to the bag. If you find it, try confirming it by looking for the teddy bear. Once you pinch one of his arms it becomes easier to make out the rest of the bear. There are three Spooky Girls in a full display-box, so this is one of the rarer minifigures. A very interesting character indeed.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Swashbuckler: The hat is not a good piece to look for because it is so similar to the Prospector’s, and the feather doesn’t work either because of the decoration on the Battle Goddess’s helmet. So you will need to find that super thin sword. It feels like a really thin antenna with a round base. It shouldn’t feel like anything else in the series, but it can easily be overlooked. There are five Swashbuckler minifigures in a full display-box, so you should be able to find him easily.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Video Game Guy: You will most likely find the 1×2 tile first. From there it is all about making sure it’s not the Jester. The Video Game Guy has a generally round hair piece that feels nothing like the Jester hat. There are quite a few of this minifigure in a full box of 60, so you will have plenty of practice. There are five Video Game Guys in a full display-box, so this should be another minifig that is easy to find. His hair-piece with the headphones and two-toned arms should be popular with LEGO customizers.
➡ LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Wizard: Just like with the Fairytale Princess, start out with looking for the dress slope. It becomes real easy from there just by finding either a bar or telescope. Both of these pieces can drop into the corners of the bag which makes them simple to find. If you can’t find them you might have the Princess on your hands. There are four Wizards in a full display-box.
One way to quickly identify the above mentioned parts and accessories is to first shake the baggies so that all small parts fall into one corner. This way you can identify them quickly. It is also a good idea to have a printout of the minifigures with accessories that you can look at as a reference while you are searching for the minifigs you want. You can go through a whole box of Collectible Minifigures quite quickly following these simple methods, and as a bonus you will also improve your tactile skills! 😀
Hope this helps with hunting for the LEGO Series 12 minifigures! They should be available at all LEGO retailers and are also listed at the Online LEGO Shop. If you have your own tips and tricks on identifying them feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

I just got the Wizard and the Space Miner on tuesday but if I had known which ones were rare I would have got those since they are both pretty common
Great guide. I had to buy 31 to get my set complete because I can’t tell by feeling. Thanks for sharing it.
Hm…good tips! I have some experience now, and I might add that the Battle Goddess’ shield is unique to this series, so if you find the spear, you can confirm with the shield. I know because I felt one out. 😉
I managed to get the Hun Warrior for $3.50 at my local toy store in late September. 🙂 The cow horns are a good object to look for as well.
BTW, if you want to watch a funny movie, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flOqJ5cYq38 (it’s only 10 minutes) 😉
That was really good! I may post it here one weekend. The story was funny and there were some clever techniques as well. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
You’re welcome! And also, there’s been more info about the 2015 Bionicle sets, it’s on Brickset. 😉
Yes, LEGO has been drip-feeding info on Bionicle, and I’m sure it will continue. Very exciting for old Bionicle fans. 🙂
Thanks for posting this. Although I have most of my list I like to read as many tips as I can. I will share this on my blog.
Chris, you are very welcome. Will is a master of feeling for the minifigs, and I use his guide myself. 🙂
Awesome! Thank you.
Cool! I’m gonna have to try that with next series though. My random purchase was pretty successful, I even got 2 gamers so I could have 2 controllers. But I recently put in an order through the minifigure store to get the last 3 of them that I wanted. Spooky Girl, Pizza Guy, and Prospector. I wasn’t interested in Space Driller or the Hun.
When I was in Russia they also had these minifigures, but instead of the anonymous packages they were sold just one by one. You tell the store owner which one you want and he will just give it to you.
Cool I wish it was was like that here then there would be no waisting time searching the bags (even though I enjoy searching the bags)
Really? That’s interesting! Were they all the same price? Or were the rarer ones more expensive?
I’ve seen sellers do that at cons, but that’s usually when the series has been discontinued…
Hm… good to know. I.m going to BrickWorld Tampa at the end of the month. This will be my first large LEGO event, so I’m super excited. Hope there will be lots of vendors selling stuff like that! I’m bringing plenty of cash! 😛
I used to go to a store like that where they would tell you which one is which and you got to pick it out. too bad I took that for granted though. 🙁
very good guide. Yesterday, and a few days ago I got the Rock star, Piggy guy, Hun warrior, and… the piggy guy…again. there’s something I need to tell you guys, never, NEVER! just grab one and go, over the years of experiencing this I always, ALWAYS got the one I least wanted. (or close to least wanted) Even if you are in a hurry, feel for one. never just grab one. take it from a person who’s had many experiences doing so. I recommended not doing it.
I agree: don’t just go blind bag. But I would say that if you’re not looking for a specific minifig, then you can do what you want. My brother prefers to just grab a random bag, and, even when he doesn’t, he gets one of the figures I want. 😕 And consider yourself lucky: my brother (same as above mentioned) has been hunting for the Piggy Guy and has been so far unsuccessful.
well, it’s easy to confuse the hat with the helmet for the space miner, so if you find something round (besides the head, ) feel the hole thing, I think it’s worth it to take your time. I didn’t give you a very good tip on how to find it but yeah, good luck for your brother on finding the piggy guy, if I knew you I’d give him one. 😀
Hey, I just put in anther order to BrickForge. Got another scooter and they finally have the lab bottle pack available. Got that and most of the test tube colors. They also have a promotion right now that if you spend $15, you get a free pack of assorted glassware witth about 6 glassware items I believe. That’d be a perfect opportunity and excuse for you to snag 2 more scooters.
I love the test-tubes! I have a gazillion of them and use them for all kinds of things like holding together LEGO leaves, adding lazer lights to weapons and more. I also really like the various bottles, and I saw that special going on. Thanks for the reminder! 😀
Also, potentially going to the Lego Store tomorrow evening, will be in the general vicinity of my closest one and I’m hoping to convince the person I’m going with to go, it’d be cool if I got some double points. I also like some of the new items being put in the minfigure station this quarter. I’m gunning specifically for that Santa Claus set that’s supposed to come out on the 1st of November but it is apparently already available in stores.
Santa Claus set? What is that? The second Christmas exclusive set? 😕
scroll down to the calendar and look at november 1st . it’s the santa themed small set, kind of like the birthday set and the wedding set and the graduation set. http://www.neoape.com/lego-shop-november-2014-calendar-2014-holiday-set-2-of-2/
That’s a nice little set and a great way to get Santa! 😛
Oh… I *have* seen that before, thought it was familiar: http://brickset.com/sets/850939-1/Santa-Set The figs are pretty good, I could use their parts, and for $8 even. 🙂
But it isn’t the second holiday set, that has yet to be revealed. 😐
I believe it costs $7.99
a cheaper way to get a santa clause without having to buy the advent calendar or workshop if you just want a santa claus, but of a better deal than buying the series minifigure.
Nice! LEGO stores often have odds and ends you can’t find anywhere else, so it is always fun to stop by. I have also heard that there are some Santa parts in the minifig station. And yes, the PAB wall is worth checking out for the new selection. 🙂
None of my local stores have started carrying this series of Minifigs yet. I called Target and gave them that DCPI number they told me they had plenty in stock but when I got there all they had were the Simpsons Minifigs. 🙁
Any word on the 2015 Lego Juniors sets? I’m excited to see which sets my girls will be needing soon!
2015 Juniors? Let’s see… Ah, here are their names, there’s only one set that has a picture: http://brickset.com/sets/year-2015/theme-Juniors 😉 The Pirates set isn’t bad, it has oars, a shark, and jewels.
Keri, it does depend on your area if and when the minifigs are carried. If the retailer still has the previous series, they may not be inclined to get the new one. William himself told me that the reason his guide has been delayed is because he was unable to locate the minifigs in his area.
Ummm…..is everyone forgetting about the “dot codes” or “bump codes?”
I’ve already determined these nine: https://www.flickr.com/photos/vedauwoo/15399825326/
I used to use bump-codes a long time ago, hwoever they turned out to be not reliable as they change per production cycle – meaning they can be different for different boxes, depending on the batch.
I am just wondering where can I actually pick up a sealed box of minifigures. I have seen opened box in many stores but I am thinking of picking a sealed box for the next series.
BTW, thanks for the guide. It is very helpful. I have almost a complete set now. I need to go back to the store later this week to find the missing ones.
You can ask the store where you see them displayed if they would sell you a sealed box. Most of them will, if they have enough in stock, or they know they will be getting more soon. I know both TRU and Target has no problem with this. They are also available on eBay and BrickLink.
Thank you for your reply. I have now completed my set, thanks again for the guide.
You’re very welcome. 🙂
That explains why I’m having a hard time finding the Hun. Though I mainly want his weapons and hat for the earlier Barbarian minifigure for that complete Conan feel, by Crom!
I would consider myself to be pretty good at finding the one i am looking for, but it’s always awkward to stand in the aisle and feel packages. every now and then a kid will walk by and ask what i am doing, and i’ll just tell them “i can tell what is inside” and find them what they want while i’m looking. i was at a walgreens with my wife and i decided i wanted the spooky girl, i’d found her quite easily too by looking for the distinctive bear. my wife asked if i could find her the pig, and that one was a little harder to find, just out of volume. the apple was the piece i used to locate it, and sure enough.
although i didn’t know they were attaching codes to the slips now, or i would have saved them. i checked out the game and it’s alright, nothing too amazing but it’s something i would be fine with a kid playing.
David, thanks for sharing that. I do pretty much the same myself; helping out others as I feel for packages. At TRU the employees also help out, so we have a little feeling the bags party going on right where people walk in. It’s fun.
I have heard that what some more self-conscious people do is to just grab a bunch of bags, take them home, feel though the bags, and return the ones that they don’t want. As long as the bag is not opened that is a viable option. 🙂
Hi all!
Please take a look at swapfigures.com, a personal initiative where you can follow your series collections and find users around the world for swapping figures.
Best regards,
David.
Thanks for the guide! Got the whole set, no duplicates. 🙂 Now the bad part is I just got bit by the minifig fly…
I’m glad the guide helped. Unfortunately there is no cure for that bite. 🙄
