LEGO Legends of Chima Online shutting down

LEGO Legends of Chima was introduced in 2013, originally as a replacement for LEGO Ninjago. However due to the immense popularity of Ninjago it was brought back, and the two themes continued running simultaneously. Both LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Legends of Chima got a great number of fans, but ultimately Ninjago has been the more popular of the two all along, so LEGO Legends of Chima is scheduled to be retired this year, while Ninjago will continue on. And one of the first signs of the end for Chima comes in the form of an announcement about the LEGO Legends of Chima Online game that fans are not going to be happy about…

Chima Online Game Review

The LEGO Legends of Chima Online game will be shut down on June 1st of this year. Here is the official announcement from the LEGO Legends Chima Online game website: “We are sorry to tell you that the game will no longer be accessible starting June 1, 2015 at 9:00am EST both online and through our iOS app. On this date, you will no longer be able to play the game or spend any remaining Gold Bricks. Please be aware that if you have any remaining Gold Bricks, you must use them before the game goes offline on June 1, 2015 at 9:00am EST. We hope you had a great time exploring the world of CHIMA Online. Thank you, The Game Team.”

LEGO Chima Online Game Shutting Down

I know many of our readers enjoyed the game and had great fun playing, so this is definitely sad news. You have about a month and a half left to play the game, so make sure you take advantage of the remaining time. And if you have never played the game up to now, I recommend you check it out before it gets shut down. LEGO Legends of Chima Online is a free multiplayer online game, that is fun for both young and old players.

Also, while I expect that the LEGO Legends of Chima sets will be around until at least the end of the year, we should be seeing dwindling stock levels at retailers. So if you have been eyeing some of the sets, I would suggest you get them before they are gone. Once the sets get retired, they will still be available on the secondary market, but expect much higher prices. I’m thinking that the minifigs will eventually rise to collectible status, especially the rare ones that only appeared in one or two sets. They are so unique, its worth adding them to your collection even if you are not a die-hard LEGO Chima fan. You can check out the currently available LEGO Legends of Chima sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? Have you been playing the LEGO Legends of Chima Online game? Do you like it? Are you saddened that it will be retired? And do you think LEGO Chima have the potential to come back like LEGO Ninjago did? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

From my point of view, Chima won’t be missed. I used to love Ninjago (the first 1 or 2 years it came out) but then after they added these weird characters such as this snake-human thing I lost interest. But, fans still love it. By the way, when do you think that Ninjago could retire? Or will it be long lasting such as the Star Wars line?

    • admin April 13, 2015, 11:29 AM

Ninjago will be around until at least 2016 when the movie comes out. What will happen after that depends on the success of the film and the popularity of the theme.

First lego universe, now Chima online. can lego make a mmo that stays for more than just a few years? I am very disappointed by the lack of long lasting lego mmos. I suppose there is still minifigures online, although I haven’t played that and am not sure if it’s really multiplayer.

    • admin April 13, 2015, 11:30 AM

I agree. Looks like LEGO just can’t make an MMO stick. 😕

  • OTigger April 11, 2015, 5:35 PM

yea i dont have any chima….but the shadow rider guy would be cool….i dont like his lion form as much…..

  • Matt April 23, 2015, 1:37 AM

Very sad, Chima was what really got our 5 yr old son into Lego, he will miss it for sure.

    • admin April 23, 2015, 11:43 AM

Matt, there is no reason your son can’t continue playing with Chima, and all episodes should be available on DVD. It may also mean that you will be able to get some of the sets on sale before they get retired, which is a good thing. 🙂

    cool lego chima

  • Eli Butler June 14, 2015, 1:16 AM

You freaking idiots, LEGO Chima Online was the BEST Rpg in the history of everything, then you did that… WHY?! Oh, let me guess, same problem as last time, not making enough money. Under NO circumstances does that mean you can just shut it down! And by the way, who was in charge of making physical chima characters look like the TV show, fire him/her!

    • admin June 14, 2015, 8:46 AM

Eli, yeah, a lot of LEGO fans liked the game. I just want to make sure you are talking with other LEGO fans here, and not LEGO directly. None of us here are in the position to do anything about this. 😐

  • Bonnie June 24, 2015, 4:38 PM

I think it’s unfortunate that this game shut down. My son loved/ still loves this show, plays the games all the time still. And for his birthday, he still asks for more lego sets!

  • Danielle June 29, 2015, 9:08 PM

My 6 year old has mentioned his game not loading for a few days now and now I realize he’s probably been telling me this for a month. He’s bummed by the news as he is just starting to get into games and this one definitely piqued his interest. Luckily he still can play his LEGO Chima Speedors game.

    • admin March 17, 2016, 9:44 AM

I would suggest that you share your opinion with LEGO. This is a LEGO blog and LEGO fan community. You won’t reach them through here.

  • Morten June 29, 2016, 10:21 AM

  • Miguel Y. September 21, 2016, 10:38 PM

Can lego make an ultimate mmo that has all lego sets, ultra building, and it could cost money and make it survive 10 yrs of life

    • admin September 21, 2016, 10:49 PM

Sounds like a good idea to me! Whether LEGO can do that though, is another question. 😉

  • Andres Lebron February 16, 2017, 7:57 PM

I can’t believe this I mean the show was going pretty well and they could of made one ds game per season if you’ve played the ds game you’d understand why I’m disappointed =( in the game makers and in the people who’ve worked on the show and games for the series)=

    • admin February 16, 2017, 8:04 PM

Andres, yeah, it is disappointing. However LEGO themes don’t last forever, but you can always continue building with the sets, and continue the stories with your own imagination. 🙂

  • YoYo Spike September 5, 2017, 12:07 PM

I love LEGO Chima. I am very angry that The Lego company shut it down.

  • cody February 5, 2018, 1:51 PM

  • Akesan March 10, 2018, 4:53 AM

Im so disgusted that at the moment im writing this,we can’t even go on lego chima’s website!!! Look ! :https://www.lego.com/fr-fr/sunset/chima

    • admin March 10, 2018, 8:26 AM

Akesan, LEGO Legends of Chima was discontinued in 2015. It’s normal for LEGO themes to be around for a couple of years before they get replaced by something else kids are interested in. However, if you miss Chima, you can still purchase sets, books, DVDs, etc. related to the theme at many retailers. 🙂

Lego Chima online should come back as a game on all platforms and it top tons of other lego games that aren’t online games.

    • admin December 1, 2019, 8:19 PM

Draven, nice see Chima still having fans! 😀

  • Zoe December 30, 2019, 6:24 PM

I am so sad. Lego Chima was my favourite game when i was a kid. It’s just a big part of my childhood. And now it’s gone forever. Lego is so selfish. At least i still have my sets but it’s not that magic because I’m older. I hope Chima will come back in any kind of way, just come back..

    • simfunny7 April 1, 2020, 12:15 PM

      You got my words pall

  • Price Drawdy February 27, 2020, 11:08 AM

LEGO Chima online was the greatest video game I’ve ever played. Honestly, all of LEGO’s mmos have been fantastic, just short lived. Lego should have given the option to make it a paid game before shutting it down, because I know myself and others would have gladly paid to keep it going.

  • simfunny7 April 1, 2020, 11:47 AM

I think this server closure is unnecessary why couldn’t they just let lego chima run? I know many of these games that aren’t so very popular, but they’re still running. This was one of my favorite nostalgic games and because it is less popular than LEGO Ninjago have to close servers? I absolutely don’t get it.

  • simfunny7 April 1, 2020, 12:21 PM

This was my favourite game from childhood!!!!! You know what? I go play warframe and for honor you golddigers!!!!

  • oskar January 18, 2021, 2:55 AM
