#70751 LEGO Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu Details 2

I have to say that this set is just gorgeous. The amount of detail reminds me of the intricate dioramas that you see displayed by the LEGO fan community at various LEGO conventions. It is also reminiscent of the #10193 LEGO Castle Medieval Market Village set. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the two sets would look really good together – maybe with a little modification to blend the different styles. And that working cinema is just brilliant! And it looks like the instruction booklet is going to be beautiful too!

Oh my… Brick. It’s beautiful! And massive! Look at all the ninjas! I haven’t watched any of the seasons after the kimono suit one but I still love ninjago. Actually got out my spinners the other day and played with my little brother. Ah… I really wish they would make more spinner sets. Air hitch doesn’t look as fun cause you can’t battle. Oh well. NINJA…. Gooooo!

  • Strider July 8, 2015, 2:01 PM

My eyes…it’s so beautiful. It definitely reminds me of MMV. This set is a must for me. My brother’s gonna be so jealous because I’m not even a Ninjago fan and I’ll have all the best mini figures 😀 . The price is good too, but that’s typical for something of this caliber. I love the colors…

  • Tom July 8, 2015, 3:01 PM

Ok. That’s stunning. Might be my first set of 2015 release that I actually buy…

  • Eggbert1 July 8, 2015, 3:30 PM

I’ve never been interested in the Ninjago until today. This set is a looker for sure. Makes me want to buy it just for the stylized Japanese architecture alone.

    IM SAVING UP ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😯

  • gid617 July 8, 2015, 4:28 PM

This is an absolutely fantastic set, that large red building is gorgeous and all the details are great. If only it were 50 bucks cheaper! Lots of neat new pieces too… olive green stalks, orange leaves…

  • kai July 8, 2015, 4:33 PM

Lovely, but expensive, I hope I can get it but… whew! Not sure I can fork out that much money!

  • Clumsybumsy July 8, 2015, 5:25 PM

This might just be my first Ninjago set. Such a nice oriental look, and that shadow cinema. I hear my wallet crying faintly in my pocket. And I won’t even mention all the nice techniques that this will have.

  • BLProductions July 8, 2015, 5:46 PM

Impressive. I could say so much about this, but I will refrain from that. 😉
First off, the minifigs are great, particularly Misako’s and Dareth’s appearance. However, Misako lacks the two-colored hair (I think), and Dareth’s face is just… not Dareth-like. I doesn’t look like him. 😕 And are Claire and Jesper actually in the episodes, or are they a completely random inclusion here? The mailman is nice, though, since he’s in the episodes a lot.
Moving on, my biggest problem with the set is: what is it? I get that it’s designed to be Yang’s temple, but why is it in a village? I thought it was among ruins of the Haunted Hill. It looks good, though; I see Rings, chickens, mini-dinos, nano-figs, those gold arms below the roof on the “Smuggler’s shop” (possibly new); the Yang statue almost looks to be Silver Metallic. All around nice parts. 😀
I also like the map in the instructions, it’s about time we get a good one. Now make a copy and guess where all the major places are. 😉
Lastly, there’s a rapid shooter that shoots fireworks with the set too, which is a nice extra play feature. You can see an image of it on Brickset. 🙂

So, that “cinema” is constructed by having a light source as backdrop on nanofigs?

That actually sounds similar to real historical entertainment in Asia. But they didn’t use three-dimensional puppets but two-dimensional figures made out of paper and cloth which were controlled by strings and sticks, IIRC…

Or if it’s spinning, it might be more similar to proto-animation devices such as the zoetrope.

Ok, I have a problem, I just got THE BATTLE FOR NINJAGO CITY ( for sale) and also got an older set EPIC DRAGON BATTLE set. So, not only are there new sets coming on august 1st but, now their is a newer set coming later on. I could play the hunting game and see if I can get it soon or I’ll what for Christmas and get it then. What to do? I like the new sets that are coming out in early august ( the city stiix, morro dragon and a couple others ) To many choices .” wisdom does not work well with addiction”.

    • admin July 8, 2015, 7:25 PM

Yeah, this is certainly going to be a problem for a lot of people as Ninjago is coming out with a very strong wave in August, and then there is this gorgeous temple too. I think the only solution is to win the lottery. 🙄

  • TheBrickLot July 8, 2015, 8:19 PM

I’m going to buy at lease two of these in about….5 of my heart beats ( my heart beats are a bit longer than your guys’ because I don’t have a pulmonary artery valve so 50% of my blood goes back in) one set for me, myself, and to review, and the second for selling for about $1000 in 3 years. lol 😉

  • Shea July 9, 2015, 7:23 AM

This looks like a really fantastic set. I love the look of it and the traditional design. This is what I really wanted Ninjago to be from the start, without the robots, jet planes and tanks.

  • Robert4168 July 9, 2015, 7:30 AM

Superb set, I must say, excellent architectural details are all over and of course the minifigs look great as well! Looks like an awesome parts pack as well! I do wish it could have been a bit cheaper though…

  • LegoUniverse Bob July 9, 2015, 11:08 AM

:O Wow, just wow… I’d love to be able to get this set but 1) I have literally NOWHERE to put it and 2) it costs too much £170 is quite a lot! Though I could afford it with my own money (I’m quite a rich kid :P) I don’t see how I would even fit it. Plus, I’m getting LEGO Dimensions…

    P.S.- That blacksmith’s roof… :O 😀

  • Lloydguy July 10, 2015, 9:53 AM

I’m gonna get it right away. The worst part, in my opinion, is the lack of ghosts and other antagonists. It’s the only reason I’m going to get other sets that come out on the first.

    • admin July 10, 2015, 12:20 PM

I think with this set LEGO wanted to appeal not just to Ninjago fans, but also fans of the traditional Ninja theme – thus the lack of ghosts or other fantasy features.
