February 2016 – new LEGO sets & promotions

Last month has been very good for LEGO fans with a huge range of new LEGO sets and themes. This month, we have some more new sets trickling in, and some new promotions as well to help with your LEGO shopping. Also, more items have been added to the clearance section of the Online LEGO shop. See details below. 🙂

LEGO Calendar 2016 February

LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS NEW FREE SET: LEGO Nexo Knights is the new theme for 2016 – a crazy mash-up between LEGO Castle and LEGO Space. So far it has been received well with very positive reviews. The sets are interesting and full of fun play-features. Also the minifigures and other characters are quite unique, so are the various accessories and other new elements. You can find reviews on all of the sets here: LEGO Nexo Knights Reviews. While not all of the sets were available back in January, now they are all uploaded at the Online LEGO Shop, so make sure you check them out. And from February 1st to the 14th you can get a free #30372 LEGO Nexo Knights Robin’s Mini Fortrex with any purchase of $50 or more, while supplies last. A cute little set to add to your LEGO Nexo Knights collection. You can find all the sets under the LEGO Nexo Knights section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO ARCHITECTURE DOUBLE VIP POINTS: During Presidents’ Day weekend (February 13-15) you can get Double VIP Points on the #21007 LEGO Architecture White House set. A nice little gift from LEGO for LEGO fans in the USA. While at it, take a look at the new LEGO Architecture Skyline series, as they are very nice. You can find them under the LEGO Architecture section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO FRIENDS PROMOTION: LEGO February 15th to the 29th you can get 50% off the LEGO Friends Campsite Scrapbook with a purchase of $50 or more on LEGO Friends sets. This doesn’t sound like a particularly interesting deal, but if you are already eyeing some of the new LEGO Friends sets, it’s a nice addition. There are some really great new LEGO Friends sets, including the #41121 LEGO Friends Adventure Camp Rafting, the #41122 LEGO Friends Adventure Camp Tree House, the #41135 LEGO Friends Livi’s Pop Star House, the #41119 LEGO Friends Heartlake Cupcake Café, and the #41118 LEGO Friends Heartlake Supermarket. You can find them under the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO NEW EXCLUSIVE SET EARLY ACCESS: From February 17th to 29th LEGO VIP Members will get early access to a new exclusive set, which should be the #76052 LEGO Super Heroes Batman Classic TV Series – Batcave (general release will be on March 1st). Usually the largest set at the beginning of each year is the newest LEGO Modular Building (the #10251 LEGO Creator Brick Bank for 2016), but this year it has been already overshadowed by two much larger buildings: the LEGO Super Heroes Batcave mentioned here, and the #75827 LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters. Good times for LEGO fans… not so good for our wallets…

LEGO COLLECTIBLE MINIFIGURES: Series 15 of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures has been showing up at stores, but it is now also available at the Online LEGO Shop. This is one of the best series with some really great characters. You can find them under the LEGO Minifigures section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO Calendar 2016 February Details

While not a whole lot of new sets are added this month, I think this is a good thing. Most of us are still trying to catch up with our wanted list from January. Also, if you do shop this month, make sure you check the Sales and Deals section. Quite a few retiring items have been added there recently with 30%-50% discounts, including LEGO Dimensions packs, LEGO Legends of Chima, LEGO Pirates, LEGO City, and more. You can find them all under the Sales and Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Just wanted to say that the new Mixels are also available. They are pretty funny.

    • admin February 1, 2016, 7:30 PM

Yes, thanks for mentioning that. I forgot about those little guys! 😀

    • Hammo March 7, 2016, 8:03 PM

Yeah, I forget about Mixels too, and haven’t fully grown to love them yet.

I’m just getting back into LEGO, so it’s a bit overwhelming at the minute.

Having a hard time finding S15 minifigs. I went to 3 different Targets (normally a reliable source) and only one have them.

Also not that into Nexo Knights so I am going to hold off my purchase until the double VIP points rolls around in March. Not necessarily a bad thing, gives me time to do some MOC.

    • admin February 4, 2016, 1:19 PM

Hm… did you ask a Target associate if they have them? Sometimes they don’t have on display yet, or it runs out, but they have more at the back. TRU is also a good option.

      • jjava February 4, 2016, 2:01 PM

Yes, I did. She even said I was the 2nd person to ask. They haven’t received any. I told her I found some at another Target and she said she will talk to the manager. So hopefully they will be in soon.

TRU, if they have any, puts them out front. Making it hard to feel the bag 🙁

        • admin February 4, 2016, 2:13 PM

My TRU also has the boxes at the front and they have no problem with me feeling through the bags. In fact, if there are few customers, the cashiers even huddle around me to help out, or they ask me to find a specific one for them. Since there are like 3-4 people all working together, when new customers come in they wonder what’s going on, and they often take part in the action. This can add up to extra sales for TRU. So it’s a win for me, the cashiers, the customers, and the store. I have been doing this for years. 😉

Here in the UK s15 are near impossible to find in store round my area. I’ve had to ebay 20 of the frightening knights and they are averaging out at £4/$6 a piece…..

            • admin February 4, 2016, 4:53 PM

Yeah, they are getting expensive and it seems that less stores carry them consistently. I have had issues with previous series as well where I had to get them on BrickLink.

          • jjava February 4, 2016, 4:16 PM

Oh really? I never tried feeling them at TRU because I thought that’s why they put it up there. It used to be at the back. I might have to go and try if Target doesn’t come thru next week.

            • admin February 4, 2016, 4:52 PM

They put them at the front because they end up in little kids pockets. 😉

              • jjava February 8, 2016, 8:53 AM

Thanks for the suggestion. I went there yesterday and they were so nice. They pulled the whole box out for me and let me feel and we chatted while I was feeling it. Now I have all the ones I wanted (some multiples on purpose).

                • admin February 8, 2016, 1:23 PM

Nice! Glad to hear you had a pleasant and successful hunt! 😉
