The best LEGO podcasts for LEGO fans

When building a new LEGO set (especially large ones), or when sorting LEGO, most LEGO fans like listening to something. Of course you can put on some music, but even better is listening to a LEGO podcast. There are actually very few dedicated LEGO podcasts around, but there are couple of them that are really excellent and worth listening following. See below. 🙂

LEGO Podcast List

ALL SORTED LEGO PODCAST: All Sorted is a LEGO podcast by two Canadian stay-at-home dads, Jeff and James. The two of them actually run three podcasts. Breaking Dads is about parenting with new episodes every Monday. Epic Gumdrop is about tabletop and video gaming with new episodes every Friday. And All Sorted is of course about LEGO with new episodes every Wednesday. The LEGO related subjects are well researched by Jeff and James, so they are very interesting and engaging. Each episode is about 20-30 minutes long. So far 37 episodes have been released, and they are still going strong. You can listen to the episodes on YouTube and iTunes. I have included the YouTube playlist below with all the podcast episodes. You can also visit their website at BreakingDads.com for show-notes and other interesting information about each episode.

BEYOND THE BRICK LEGO PODCAST: Started in 2011 by Joshua Hanlon and Matthew Kay, Beyond the Bricks focuses on interviews with the world’s best LEGO builders in their weekly podcast. They also cover some of the top LEGO conventions and other events, but those you actually have to watch to get the full benefit. The podcast interviews also have some visual, but it is basically just watching people talking with an occasional image of the LEGO creations of the person being interviewed. Each episode is about 30-60 minutes long. Joshua and Matthew are well respected within the LEGO fan community, and they have done over 150 podcast interviews at the time of this writing. You can only listen to the podcasts on YouTube. I have included the YouTube playlist below with all the podcast episodes.

These two podcasts should give you plenty to listen to while building or sorting your LEGO. I hope you enjoy the episodes. And if there are any other LEGO podcasts that you enjoy would recommend, feel free to list them in the comment section below! 😉

Lisa, how can I search your previous posts? I’m trying to find the one on the Nuremburg toy fair.

I have heard of Beyond The Brick and watched some of their episodes. They are interesting, but kind of long winded at times. However I have never heard of the other one. It sounds really interesting! Especially because you can also listen to it on iTunes like a true podcast not just on youtube.

Those are both video, not audio. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the earlier podcasts, either – LAML Radio ( http://lamlradio.com/ ) and Bricks in my Pocket are classics of the genre. The reason Beyond the Brick refers to itself as a podcast is that they actually started out as one – they only made the jump to video (and YouTube) in 2013.

Dan, thanks for sharing. I’m aware of the earlier podcast episodes by Beyond the Brick, but I didn’t list them as they haven’t used that podcast network for three years now. The LAML Radio podcast also seems to be fully abandoned as it hasn’t been updated since 2012. So is Bricks in My Pocket, which had its last episode in 2009. A lot of things happened since that time in the world of LEGO, so many of those older episodes are not so relevant any more – especially the ones about reviews and events. But it could be interesting to listen to some of them for nostalgia’s sake or for research. All Sorted episodes are available at iTunes, not just YouTube. 🙂
