While most of the March LEGO sets were released a couple of weeks early (see: Second Wave of 2017 Sets Available Now!), there are other new sets coming as well. Also, this month we get the first Double VIP Points special of the year, so this is a perfect time to make those purchases you have been putting off since the beginning of the year. Let’s a look at all the shiny new things we are getting this month from our favorite company. 🙂
➡ FREE LEGO CITY POLICE HELICOPTER: This is just a small special, but nonetheless nice. You will get a free LEGO City Police Helicopter with purchased of $35 or more. This offer is valid March 1-15, and is valid on all themes, not just LEGO City.
arrow: FREE LEGO DUPLO FISH: This is another small special that only applies to LEGO DUPLO purchases. While we don’t normally talk about LEGO DUPLO sets as they are for small children, there are some great sets that were released this year. If you have little ones it is worth checking out the selection and also get a cute fish. This offer is valid March 17-31. Visit the LEGO DUPLO section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ DOUBLE VIP POINTS ON ALL PURCHASES: This is a much more significant special that only happens a few times a year and LEGO fans really look forward to. Remember that this is the time to earn points, not to spend them. This offer is valid March 6-16, so make sure you don’t miss out.
➡ LEGO PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN EARLY ACCESS: On March 17th LEGO VIP members will get early access to the #71042 LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Silent Mary from the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales film. It is a massive, ghostly-looking LEGO pirate ship skeleton with 2294 pieces and a price of $199.99. Regular release will be on April 1st. Two other sets that will be available for LEGO VIP members at the same time are the last two of the Series 1 LEGO BrickHeadz characters; the #41593 LEGO BrickHeadz Captain Jack Sparrow and the #41594 LEGO BrickHeadz Captain Armando. If you want to check it out, the Silent Mary is already listed under the LEGO Disney section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Guardians of the Galaxy all the way. I have enough of Star Wars and NINJAGO to last me for A while.
So you are getting baby Groot? Sweet! 😀
Yeah, I’ve been going back-and-forth between Elves ( Goblin village) and Star Wars sets . So, I figured what sets I worked on last ( theme wise) and maybe get a different theme that I haven’t worked on yet. It just so happens to be Marvel. The Elves has always been up in the air with me . I only bought a couple of sets for a trial run and it didn’t click. Just not the theme I wanted to get in to .
That makes sense. I occasionally try a new theme too, and sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, I just take the sets apart and put them in the parts drawers. That’s one of the best things about LEGO; you can always use the parts for something else. 🙂
Not to interested in anything that just came out, except the Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H. I’ll definitely be buying that during the double VIP Points period, and I might buy something else so I can get the helicopter.
I usually don’t take it apart , I keep it in tact because the Elves are not a bad theme , it’s just a theme I ‘m not planning to invest a lot of money in . I am however tempted to get the Goblin village because they remind me of the Smurf’s that have gone really ,really bad. I may break down and get it some day. ( sooner than I think)?
That’s the set I’m planning to get as well. Very Smurf-ish! 😀
For the Smurfs, I prefer the original Belgian comics, but the goblins are sort of like the Naughties (Vexy and Hackus) from the second live action movie…
The Goblins remind me of the goons from 80’s fantasy Saturday morning cartoons, such as Toadwart from the Gummi Bears, or Beastly from the Care Bears …
Ahhh… yeah, forgot about those! 😀
Hopefully I’ll make it to a store this month during the 2x VIP points, in which case I’ll be getting the Mercedes AMG GT3 and Mighty Dinosaurs. Otherwise, not much for me this month. I like the Elves, but am waiting on better images of the summer sets to decide which to get. I don’t see why they’ve split up Technic so much this year… some in January, 2 in March, and the rest in August with the summer sets. None are even that exciting, which is disappointing. At least the Minecraft is good and the Star Wars not bad. 🙂
Also: http://brickset.com/article/26880/new-inventories-and-parts New parts, finally! My new part count this year is now 61. Surprisingly few, compared to the last two years. And most of them come in multiple sets, so at least they’re all usable. I’m interested to see what people will come up with for that part in the Nether Railway.
Hm… I was thinking of you when I saw that announcement on Brickset about the updated inventories. I’m also curious about how people are going to use that Minecraft piece besides making curved tile tracks. I bet it will be in an upcoming Iron Builder competition! 😀
Funny, I was just having dinner and looking at that dinosaur in the new LEGO magazine that just arrived yesterday. It looks really good. I might have to get that one too. I’m also waiting for the Double VIP Points period to go shopping. I couple of the Elves sets and maybe that Dino is what I have in mind. I also like that small Easter set. I don’t have any of the eggs yet, so it would be a good set to get. 🙂
I can see that piece being used on shields, complex weapons, maybe a pattern with stacked tiles or a fence… an Iron Builder competition with that piece would definitely be interesting to see. The nub at the end isn’t the most useful though, since very few other parts fit with it.
Isn’t the Dinosaur eating a LEGO Life logo in the new magazine? I’m not sure it can do that in real life…. I like the set, although the A-model seems off to me. It doesn’t feel like a T-rex, as the head looks like a raptor head – maybe it’s too long. I’m still getting it, though; I want the new SNOT bricks. The Easter set is nice, despite only having one white egg… but at least there’s a Dark Azur one. 🙂
Yeah, LEGO is really pushing LEGO Life, so they threw some of the LEGO Life brick images around the magazine. There is one in dino’s mouth, and there are some others ones too. I didn’t pay too much attention to them, but I thought it was funny that the dino was chewing on one. 😀
I do like the A-model. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it has a nice shape, and nice colors. We can pretend that it is a dino we haven’t discovered yet. 🙄
I have been watching Mega Construx videos. They had this whole futuristic city layout at the Toy Fair called Mega Construx Beyond, and it looks amazing. Everyone (well, besides hard-core LEGO fans) are going nuts over it. I really hope that it will be released as actual sets, but at this point it is not clear. Anyway, I don’t know if you are into MC, just thought to share. LEGO should really do something like that if MC decides not to. 🙂
It was some sort of challenge in the magazine… my brother and I found about 7 logos total. Because of it’s size, the A-model isn’t that accurate, but it is recognizable and in an interesting color. I’m sure there’s a real dinosaur that fits this one, but I can’t think of it. I’ll have to consult my dinosaur dictionary….
I’m not a fan of MC (and I still like the old name better), but the Beyond display does look neat. Is it like a city, but with high-tech (or futuristic) structures and such? I can’t tell too well from the images I’ve seen. There didn’t look to be that much set material, though. 😕
Yeah, it is a kind of a lame challenge. I started counting them too, but then gave up. I’m kind of worried that LEGO Life is going to replace LEGO Club, and they are also going to stop the LEGO Club Magazine. I don’t know this for sure, but in the last magazine I got, it said something about “upgrading” to LEGO Life.
I also like MB better than MC. I might write an article about the Beyond city at some point. But I think I will wait until it becomes clear if it is going to be a new theme, or it was just a special display. The fact that they made all those special figures seem to indicate that it is going to be a new theme. At least I hope so. I want those astronauts and Segways. 😀
P.S.: This is a good video about the Beyond display, in case you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIX1ZtlIlTA&feature=youtu.be
You might be right, I’ve never seen a dinosaur eat a Lego logo in real life…
