Feedback on the LEGO James Bond Aston Martin DB5 has been a bit mixed. While most LEGO fans agree that the gadgets and special features are amazing and very fun, the shaping of the vehicle has been somewhat controversial. The LEGO model appears too boxy from certain angles, however, from other angles, it’s a great representation of James Bond’s iconic ride. In the official designer video, LEGO designer Mike Psiaki talks about the challenges faced when working on this set, including the scale, choice of parts, and play-features. You can watch it below.

While the shaping may not be perfect, the built-in play-features and gadgets of the #10262 LEGO Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 are fantastic! In the video-review below by the JANGBRiCKS, you can see how the ejector seat, rotating license plates, and wing machine guns work, and also check out all the hidden compartments and other features.

If you like what you see, and you are ready to get the #10262 LEGO Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5, prices are as follows: US $149.99 – CA $179.99 – DE 149.99€ – UK £129.99 – FR 149.99€ DK – 1399DK (Euro pricing varies by country). And yes, that’s a pretty high price for a LEGO Creator vehicle, but this is a super special licensed car with lots of unusual functions, so overall it’s not too bad. You can find it at the LEGO Creator Expert section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Also, to celebrate the release of the new set, LEGO is offering LEGO VIP members the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to 007 Elements, the ultimate James Bond experience! I can’t make up my mind about this one. The features are amazing, but it just doesn’t look like the real car. But, man, that ejector seat is so satisfying to watch!

Wow! I knew about the set, but I wasn’t aware of the sweepstakes! Awesome! Hope I win! 😀

I’ve fallen in love with the Creator Expert vehicles and this is just one more step up when it comes to features.

Now where in the budget does it fit?

    • Håkan July 21, 2018, 2:08 PM

And, more importantly, where on the shelf?

    • admin July 22, 2018, 7:34 PM

Yeah, the price is a little scary. Budgeting for LEGO is increasingly difficult with all these awesome sets. 😀

I think overall the designer did a great job with the limitations of Lego. It’s an interesting car for sure, but has limited appeal. I also agree with Jang’s point that the shape of the car should have been more important than the gadgets. After all, this is a collector set, not a toy. But perhaps that’s the best shape they could do with or without gadgets. Someone said on Brickset that the front looks like a Trabant. Ouch.

Lego should have made this set with a James Bond minifig and a plaque like the SW UCS sets. It’s different than the earlier Creator Expert sets. It’s not just a car, but a James Bond car. Accuracy and collector features are important. It’s more like an SW UCS set.

Hm… a Trabant…. I can sort of see that now that you mention. 😐

  • hushpuppy July 22, 2018, 3:10 PM

This should have been pearl silver. Not light-gray. It looks like a tank or an unpainted car, not the sleek, fast, tricked out car of James Bond.

    • Håkan July 22, 2018, 5:07 PM

Is Pearl Silver really available for ordinary ABS parts?

And if not, wouldn’t that be detrimental to the build’s expected stability? (I guess it could always be spray painted afterwards, as I’ve seen fans occasionally do with their builds…)

      • admin July 22, 2018, 7:46 PM

Pearl-light-gray and flat-silver are almost identical, and they are fairly common. However, they tend to have some wild swirls in them, so they are usually used for accessories, armor pieces, etc. But yeah they are pretty common, they just don’t look as good for smooth flat elements like bricks and plates because of the swirls.

Not sure about this yet. If the price comes down I might consider it just to learn the techniques. I’m not so much into display sets.

    • Håkan July 23, 2018, 12:09 PM

Not sure if the price comes down on those high-profile sets too often…

      • admin July 23, 2018, 3:26 PM

It depends on how well they sell. I have seen some Creator Expert sets on sale either directly from LEGO or through places like Amazon. If you are not sure about a set, wait until the holidays to see if anyone drops the price.
