Great news for LEGO fans! Looks like LEGO listened to feedback, and decided to offer unrestricted Double VIP Points from now until the end of the month! As you may remember, it appeared from the LEGO Store Calendar for October that select sets were going be offered with Double VIP Points (see: October 2018 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions) on October 8-9th. However, those dates came and went with no special offers. The Online LEGO Shop did list two sets with Double VIP Points for the entire month; the #75208 LEGO Star Wars Yoda’s Hut, and the #75218 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter, but that’s a very paltry offering compared to specials from previous holiday seasons…
Fortunately, looks like LEGO realized it was a big mistake to disappoint and turn away their fans during the holiday shopping season, so they are now offering Double VIP Points on every purchase with no restrictions! This offer started yesterday (October 15th), and will last until the end of October. It’s a perfect time to buy the big sets from your wanted list, as well as take care of holiday shopping. The offer is valid both at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
Also remember that the second freebie offer for the month also just went live yesterday. From now, until the end of the month, you will get a free LEGO Minifigure Collector Frame with purchases of $75 or more. While LEGO offered frames like this before, this is the first time we get a frame that’s not related to any specific license. The frame is made of sturdy black cardboard with a 32×32-stud dark-gray baseplate glued inside. The frame also comes with white brackets and slopes to build little stands to attach to the baseplate, plus an exclusive minifig. You can hang or stand the frame, or lay it down flat. This offer is valid on all purchases at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
This month has been certainly confusing as far as special offers, but it looks like it has been all straightened out, and in our favor! If you have been eyeing some of the large sets like the #75222 LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City, the 75192 LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon, the #75159 LEGO Star Wars Death Star, the #71043 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle, the #10261 LEGO Creator Roller Coaster, the #10256 LEGO Creator Taj Mahal, the #10255 LEGO Creator Assembly Square, the #42083 LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, the #70620 LEGO Ninjago City and matching #75657 LEGO Ninjago City Docks, the new #21311 LEGO Ideas Voltron, or some of the earlier large sets, the Double VIP Points period is the best time to get them. You will earn twice as many points as normal, which you can redeem at a future date. Double VIP Points basically end up being 10% savings on your purchase, which is especially beneficial on large and popular sets that almost never go on sale.
And of course, you can also stock up on smaller sets from your favorite theme, as well as the holiday sets like the #10254 LEGO Winter Village Holiday Train, the #10259 LEGO Winter Village Train Station, the most recent #10263 LEGO Winter Village Fire Station, and the LEGO Christmas Advent Calendars. To see the whole selection of currently available sets, visit the Online LEGO Shop.

Wow. Gosh. Good thing I was procrastinating!
Yeah, I guess there are times when procrastination works out in our favor! 😀
Ah, man! I already bought some stuff this month thinking there won’t be double vip. But I still have some sets on my wanted list so I may get something. I bet a lot of people will be disappointed who shopped earlier this month. It worries me that they were so disorganized about this.
It appears that this was more in response to customer feedback rather than being spaced out. 😀
Well, that’s a surprise! I remember someone was sharing earlier that they were told by employees at the store that they will no longer offer VIP Points on every set. And here we are. I’m glad they listened to feedback.
Now we just need the holiday freebies back.
Yeah, that would be awesome, but it’s probably too late to arrange that for this holiday season.
This is great news, but my question is should we do all our Christmas shopping now? Or will there be other double points before the holidays?
Hm… we really don’t know if there are going to be other Double VIP Points periods before the end of the year. Based on previous years, they usually offer Double VIP Points in October, then sometimes a bit in November based on if they have to boost their sales numbers. Personally, I would take care of the majority of holiday shopping now. You avoid the rush, and you are guaranteed Double VIP Points. If you have some older sets in mind that might retire soon, you may wait until later to see if there is a last-minute holiday or year-end sale. But for all the newer sets you want, I would shop now. LEGO’s Black Friday sale is usually not that spectacular with mostly clearance on older sets.
Oh, good. I still have time. I thought that the 2×VIP piont was only going to be a week long deal. I to have spent my money before this deal but, it was a choice I’m still very happy about. Remember before I went house sitting for my uncle and I couldn’t decide on what set to buy. ( it was choice between Sanctum sanctorum or the cargo terminal set) I bought the cargo terminal set because, it was on sale at target and I’ve been wanting to build a cargo terminal both for trucks and air planes ( I have a couple of cargo airplanes and trucks already) . I also needed another table for my displays. This set was a last year set so I wasn’t sure how long it was going to be out.
That was a good choice. The Sanctum Sanctorum should be around for a while, so you can always pick it up later, if you want. Have fun populating your cargo terminal! 🙂
Ahh! Thank you, lego! We will get the Winter Village set!
Well I feel sad now, I did my lego purchases last week. 🙁 maybe i just need to buy more 🙂
Plot twist; that’s why they did it. 😈
I’m happy to hear this. I was saving for Double VIP points and was disappointed when it looked like this wasn’t going to happen. Thankfully, i haven’t spent the earmarked money yet! It’s nice to know Lego is listening.
