If you are a LEGO VIP member, you should have gotten an email by now with some preliminary information about the changes coming to the LEGO VIP program. If you haven’t received the email, I have included the information below for your reference. 🙂
We’re super excited to let you know we’re making improvements to the LEGO VIP program! Thanks to feedback we’ve had from our awesome VIP customers, we’ve been working on some great ideas that will make your membership even better.
WE’RE MAKING THINGS BETTER – In the coming months, we’ll be launching an online rewards center that will introduce some new ways to earn and spend VIP points. To support our Planet Promise, we’ll also be going digital with VIP cards. Physical cards will be available for anyone who still wants one.
WHEN IT’S ALL HAPPENING – We’re working hard on the updates and you’ll see the first changes come into effect in two months from now.
YOUR POINTS WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE – All your existing VIP points will still be available and worth the exact same value. All your points will be valid for at least 18 months. We’ll reset the clock on all your points every time you earn or spend any points, so you can use them for longer. Yay! You’ll still be able to use your points to get discounts at LEGO stores and at the Online LEGO Shop. You’ll also be able to manage your points through the online rewards center (you’ll need an Internet connection to access it).
DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING? – For the time being, we suggest you make sure that your VIP account is registered. This means that your VIP account is linked to an online LEGO account. To register your VIP account, head over and register here. You can check whether you’re registered already by logging in with your LEGO account at VIP.LEGO.com, as all your VIP info will appear right there. We’ll also be making sure that each VIP account has a unique email address. Accounts that use the same email address will be merged together and accounts with more than one email address will be split into separate accounts.
That’s all for now! More info will be on the way and full terms and conditions will be available on our website soon. We can’t wait to share more with you, so keep an eye out for emails from the LEGO VIP team.
Currently, the LEGO VIP program offers reward points on every purchase, as well as early access to some new sets, and a few other perks. As you can see, the email doesn’t say much about what changes are coming, but we should find out soon. I hope they are good! In the meantime, remember that until the end of March, LEGO is offering Double VIP Points on all purchases at LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
What do you think? What changes would you like to see to the LEGO VIP program, if any? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

I wonder what they are planning. I hope it’s not going to be a disaster like the black vip card. Am I reading that right that vip points won’t expire?
Yeah, it seems like the old VIP Points won’t expire with the new system, and might even last longer, as long as you’d make ‘any’ purchase every 18 months (at Lego.com or in Lego stores).
Yes, that is correct. 🙂
Yes, if you use your card at least once every 18 months, your points will be kept. It’s a great upgrade!
I hope they keep the double VIP points. I remember there used to be triple VIP points before Christmas, but I haven’t seen that for years. Maybe they can give points for filling out surveys, giving feedback, at store events, etc.
Those are good ideas, and yes, I remember the triple VIP Points too! The good old days! 😀
I’m a little nervous about this. I hope they are not going to make the program worse. It is already not the best, but after the black card fiasco, I’m worried about their ability to make positive changes.
They took a survey some time back about what fans wanted. It seems like they will be getting at least some ideas for the changes from there. I do hope that they will improve the program for the better, but it could also go to the Dark Side like the Black VIP Card. We should know soon enough… 😈
Wait, VIP points expire??? I didn’t know that!
Yes, under the current system they expire two years after you earned them (always in December). But LEGO gives you plenty of warnings before that via email.
