LEGO Ideas Central Perk Set Review

As we discussed at the beginning of the month, the #21319 LEGO Ideas Central Perk set is now available! The project was originally submitted to the LEGO Ideas platform by French LEGO fan Aymeric Fievet (a.k.a. Mric76) back in the fall of 2016. It achieved the required 10,000 supporters two years later, and since its approval early this year, LEGO’s own designers have been working on refining the model. Now, that the set is available, we can take a closer look.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary since its debut in 1994, Friends remains one of television’s most beloved series. One of the highest-rated shows on television in its original network run, the series still remains a perennial go-to in syndication and on streaming services, where it continues to be a smash hit worldwide. A favorite among critics and fans alike throughout its 10-season run, Friends not only won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy series, but also garnered Emmy Awards for series stars Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow. From Warner Bros. Television, Friends follows the lives and loves of a close-knit group of friends living in New York City: siblings Ross (David Schwimmer) and Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), along with friends Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) and Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston). Friends was created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, who executive produced the series with Kevin Bright through Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

As I personally know little about the Friends TV show, I will let Boone Langston from Beyond the Brick show you around. He is very familiar with and is a big fan of the series, so he can show you all the cool little details and references you can find in the #21319 LEGO Ideas Central Perk set.

Great review, isn’t it? And just for a bit of extra fun, I’m including a second video with some favorite scenes from FRIENDS, recreated in LEGO stop-motion animation by the brother and sister team Mitchell Tanis and
Marissa Tanis from Bookshelf Productions. Enjoy!

If you love the FRIENDS TV show, and love the #21319 LEGO Ideas Central Perk set as is, you are in for a treat! And even if you don’t watch the show, you can still appreciate many of the set’s features, like the great color combinations (look at all that dark-green!), the design of the furniture and other fixtures, the large selection of useful accessories and interesting pieces, the printed elements, and the exceptionally well designed minifigures. Also, note the unusually low price. 1,070 pieces for $60 is less then 6 cents apiece. That’s practically unheard of! You can get this set just for the pieces and you would get a great deal. For more pictures, details, and to purchase the set, visit the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the #21319 LEGO Ideas Central Perk set? Is this a project you voted for? Do you like the details, minifigures, and accessories? Are you planning to purchase the set? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

Now, this set is for me! They did such a great job on the minifigs, and I love how they made the cafe into an actual stage.

I’m getting this just for the pieces. The figures are cool too and can be used as regular civilians.

I’m curious how they came up with the price of this set. I mean, it’s crazy good. Barely over 5 cents a piece, while other sets are three times or more expensive. Anyway, totally worth it just for parting out.

I guess this set contains a lot of quite small, basic parts. But still seems like a pretty good deal…

The price of this set is already great, but I’m wondering if it will go any lower. Some Ideas sets never go on sale, but some do. Maybe it’s not worth pushing our luck. 😀

This could be added into a custom modular. Like, make it the first floor. It would require extensive modding, but I think it could be done. Heck, you could even take a current modular and modify the first floor to include this.
