Mixing LEGO Creator Palace Cinema with Ninjago City

Two of the most popular sets from The LEGO Ninjago Movie are the #70620 LEGO Ninjago City from 2017 and the #70657 LEGO Ninjago City Docks from 2018. The sets can be used separately or connected together for a larger layout. They represent a chaotic cityscape with structures stacked on top of each other, as it might happen in an old city with little space to expand. These Ninjago City sets inspired many LEGO fans to add additional units to the layout. Another popular way to use them is to add them to the LEGO Modular Buildings as they are quite similar in size and detail.

We featured several modifications in the past (see links at the end of this post), and today I wanted to show you another one I recently found; combining LEGO Ninjago City with the #10232 LEGO Creator Palace Cinema, one of the earlier LEGO Modular Buildings from 2013. The Palace Cinema is thought to be have been inspired by Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, as it has a similarly shaped tower and Asian-inspired design elements.

LEGO fan cjtonic decided to modify the #10232 LEGO Creator Palace Cinema so it can be added to the LEGO Ninjago City sets, and he renamed it Ninjago City Cinema. Even though the new cinema has recognizable elements from the original building, it was actually completely redesigned, reconstructed, and rebuilt to fit with the style and layout of the LEGO Ninjago City sets, and it can seamlessly attach to either the #70620 LEGO Ninjago City set or the #70657 LEGO Ninjago City Docks set.

If this is a project you would like to do yourself, cjtonic shares instructions for the modified LEGO Creator Palace Cinema. Please note that you will need the original set, or you will have to source the parts yourself, and there are also some extra parts you will need besides what’s available from the set. You can find the parts-list and download the free building instructions at Rebrickable.com: LEGO Ninjago City Cinema Parts List & Instructions

Unfortunately, all three sets are now retired, but if you already have them, and if you would like to customize them in a unique way, this could be a fun project. And if you’re new to the LEGO Modular Buildings, you can see the current selection at the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like this customized LEGO Ninjago City module? Is this a project you would be interested to do yourself? Do you have the sets already? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

I always thought Palace Cinema was a little boring. This makes it a lot more interesting! And I love Ninjago City!

I did something like that with a knights set and the Dwarf Mine set. The knights set was a drawbridge with a tower attached to it and I attached it to the middle part of the Dwarf Mine set to make it taller . It’s so cool looking. I also put silver colored Dragon skulls on both sides of the tower part of the mine set looking up and Flames are shooting out of their mouths. A decorative look to the dwarf Castle or mine set and very intimidating. Like a dwarf Castle should look like.😎

The Diner, Garage and Boostore looks great together on that last picture. I didn’t care for those as much, but I admit, they don’t look bad here. And the Ninjago city mod is awesome!
