      Edit to add:

And that’s coming from a lifelong Sega fan! 🙂

I never even had a NES, but my god this is awesome! I like how they used the clear dish to make Mario follow the course rather than using gears or any other mechanical device.

I would have not dreamed of Lego making anything like this even just a year ago. Just wow.

  • Ian July 15, 2020, 3:21 PM

This is incredible. I have only seen afols build stuff like this. They are releazing some amazing sets this year.

  • Pepper July 15, 2020, 3:31 PM

Amazing, and the price seems very fair for what you get. The only thing that annoys me is that you have to get Mario figure separately. They should just have included it.

This is perfect. They got every detail right. Are those decorations prints or stickers? Do you know?

    • The Brick Lot July 15, 2020, 3:50 PM

It apears that the decals for the NES, controller, Mario, and items on screen are prints. However, it looks like the TV info and cartridge apear to be stickers.

I may be wrong, but I remember seeing something like this made by an afol. I think it was a few years ago when I saw it. I remember it had a similarly moving screen. Anyone remember?

  • Danny July 15, 2020, 4:39 PM

Amazing. I was not an NES guy but may get it anyways. The scrolling mechanism in the TV could be repurposed for some fun ideas.

Well, Lego is really killing it this year. This set is going to sell out the second it goes live. I think we can expect the same type of lack of availability as the UCS Falcon. Save up for it, but don’t expect to be able to purchase it until 1-2 years down the road.

Wow! This brings back fond memories. I use to have a Nintendo Entertainment System and I use to play on it for hours( just like every body else that had Nintendo). Mario Brothers was the game I played constantly as well as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game. Remember how we thought the blowing on the game cartridge would make the game play better? ( it didn’t make a differents). I remember a cartridge that had cheat codes for all sorts of games and I had it. I believe it was called” The Game Genie”. That was the only way I was able to beat a game because I’m horrible at playing video games. This is a very cool set but, sadly out of my price range.

      Game Genie, yeah.

Some of those old games are unforgivingly hard, though…

  • j.j. July 15, 2020, 6:19 PM

Holy gods of Lego! Is this real life? They are now in moc territory! Like others said, I would have not expected to ever see a set like this!

  • Okosh July 15, 2020, 6:51 PM

Well, there goes my already meager paycheck. By the way, I remember people making stuff like this out of cardboard. Same concept with the moving screen.

  • lifelibertylego July 16, 2020, 12:23 PM

This brings back so much nostalgia! Good job, lego, fantastic set.

  • HamishSalomon July 17, 2020, 2:51 AM

in the US you have to pay 230$. In Denmark, where the Lego comes from, we have to pay 275$. Absurd
