This year, many retailers decided to spread out holiday shopping specials and also offer many of their specials online to avoid gathering crowds. LEGO is also continuing with sales and special holiday promotions throughout the month. Details below.
FREE LEGO VIP HOLIDAY GIFT SET: December 1-15 (or while supplies last), LEGO VIP members will get the #5006482 LEGO VIP Holiday Gift Set with purchases of $40 or more. This offer is valid on all purchases at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
FREE LEGO ICE-SKATING RING: December 1-24 (or while supplies last), you will get the #40414 LEGO Seasonal Ice Skating Ring with purchases of $150 or more. This is a quite large free set with 303 pieces and two minifigures with exclusive torso prints. The set features a buildable ice-skating ring with large rotating gears that make it look like the minifigs are twirling around a frozen fountain. It is definitely a fun set and perfect for adding some movement to a LEGO Winter Village layout. This offer is valid on all purchases at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
FREE LEGO TRAIN: December 14-24 (or while supplies last), you will get the #30575 LEGO Creator Holiday Train with purchases of $40 or more. This offer is only valid at official LEGO stores.
LEGO COLOSSEUM NOW AVAILABLE: The #10276 LEGO Colosseum became available on Thanksgiving weekend. This is the largest LEGO set of all time with over nine thousand pieces! We talked about the set before (see: Massive LEGO Colosseum Coming Soon!) and you can check it out at the LEGO Creator Expert section of the Online LEGO Shop.
It also worth noting that many of the new sets that will be released in January 2021 are already listed at the new items section of the Online LEGO Shop. We can’t purchase them just yet, but you can browse through them and add them to your wish list. It’s a good way to prepare and budget for your purchases next year.
Between now and the end of the year, we can also expect many of the older sets to go on sale as LEGO is clearing their inventory and freeing up space for new stock. 20-30% off on these sets is common with the occasional 50% off. So check the sale section of the Online LEGO Shop.

I was checking out the Lego web site last night and again this morning and a large portion of their inventory is totally gutted, kinda like the remains of the Thanksgiving turkey. 😉 Maybe the December challenge might be ‘find enough of something you want that ads up to $40 to get the holiday gift set’. I hope that doesn’t sound snarky, maybe just giving others a heads-up on how most of the big sets including the new Coliseum is not available on line.
Rob, yes, I saw that too. I’m actually going to brick this up on the Ambassador Forum and see if there is any chance of a restock before the end of the year.
For those of us interested in the Exclusive Offer Ice Skating Rink. Of the 34 sets on the Lego site that are between $150 and $200, 22 of them are sold out.
This is of course right after “Black Friday Exclusive Offer- A Christmas Carol” set which required a $150 purchase.
And of the 73 sets between $75 and $100, 17 are available
I picked up a couple of sets I wanted at Walmart. I think I’m good for the rest of the year. Waiting for the 2021 sets.
I agree with you Rob. I ‘ve been waiting and checking frequently on the Star Wars MOS Eisley Cantina. Still not available and it’s been like that for a while. I come to the conclusion that I’ll get it sometime next year. Most of my family members have already done Christmas shopping for me already and so there’s really no point at this time. Partly because most of us have spent our Christmas expenses already. Yes, and the other bigger sets are out as well and I know the Lego company is in a bit of a difficult time with keeping things in stock. The best thing I can do it’s just be patient and get it next year. After all we are hoping that next year will be a lot better than this year. I’m ready to say goodbye ,good riddance get on my face 20/20. LOL!
I also reserved myself to the fact that it’s unlikely any of the sets I want will be available this year. I hope the factory reopens in Mexico soon. It’s okay though. I have plenty to build!
I’m starting to build my wanted list for next year. There are some cool sets coming. And hopefully by then the new sets from this year will get restocked too.
Is the colosseum worth it? It looks spectacular, but I’m also scared that it’s a mind-numbingly boring build.
Well, it unanimously ‘is’ considered highly tedious and repetitive. If you find it boring or meditative, your mileage may vary…

Yes, exactly what you said. 🙂
It gets to be so tedious after a while not only is the build pretty much the same repeatedly over and over again the same pattern, but, the color is just the same. At least some of the other sets like the Diagon Alley set eventually does change his colors and does change into various patterns of build. This of course makes a little bit more bearable to build a set with so many pieces. It reminds me of the very first sandcrawler and how the bags weren’t numbered yet and you’re dealing with various browns but mostly dark brown pieces. It wasn’t easy to build.( Just to let you know I haven’t built the Diagon Alley set yet it’s still under the tree to be opened.) So, my thoughts are just an assumption. Also from what I’ve seen from the pictures. So, the Colosseum does not interest me. Partly because it looks like a very tedious build.
