2021 LEGO Advent Calendars Overview

Although the LEGO Advent Calendars for this year won’t be available until next month, I did want to talk about them a bit to help you decide which one to get. Up to 2012, we only got a couple of LEGO Advent Calendars per year, which gradually progressed to three, and four per year, and this is the first year we get five, so there is something for everyone!

As usual, each LEGO Advent Calendar Box contains 24 little doors, with a small packet of LEGO pieces and/or figures that kids can build that day. And the packaging also folds out to reveal a nicely designed playmat for play and display. It’s a fun way to count down to Christmas.

The #41690 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar is particularly cute this year, as it features five of the recently introduced micro-dolls as well as various small gifts and toys that match their size. This set costs $29.99 and is going to be available starting in September at the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #60303 LEGO City Advent Calendar is also a bit different this year, as instead of just some generic LEGO City characters, it includes six named characters from the LEGO City Adventures TV series; Top Hat Tom, Bob, Betty, Sam Grizzled, Shirley Keeper and Fendrich, plus a buildable Duke DeTain snowman. This set is also $29.99 and is going to be available at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #75307 LEGO LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar is usually one of the most desirable ones due to the exclusive minifigs and micro-builds of popular Star Wars ships. And this year’s Advent Calendar is special because it exclusively focuses on Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 live action television series. First of all, we are getting seven figures/droids; The Mandalorian and the Child (Grogu), affectionately known as Baby Yoda, both in festive outfits, plus a Scout Trooper, Stormtrooper, Tusken Raider, IG-11, and IT-O Interrogator Droid. In addition, we arel also getting eleven mini-build vehicles include The Razor Crest, Riot Mar’s starfighter, Imperial Troop Transport, X-wing, TIE Fighter, Imperial Light Cruiser, Boba Fett’s starship, and the Child’s hoverpram. Other mini-builds include an E-web heavy blaster snow launcher, training targets, Tusken Raider’s weapon rack and snow launcher, Imperial weapon rack, and Mandalorian weapon rack. This set is $39.99, and will be available at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #76196 LEGO Avengers Advent Calendar is a completely new this year, adding the Marvel Universe to the LEGO Advent Calendar Collection. The set features seven minifigures; Iron Man (in Christmas sweater), Spider-Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain Marvel, Thanos, and Nick Fury, as well as mini versions of the Quinjet, Helicarrier, Spider-Man drone, Avengers Tower, and more. I think this set might just be as popular as the Star Wars one. This set is also $39.99, and you can find it at the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #76390 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar is also going to be a popular one. The six minifigs are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Dudley Dursley, and Griphook, but unfortunately none of them wear Christmas outfits. However, there are some other enchanting accessories from the Harry Potter movies, like the Hogwarts letters arriving through the fireplace, collecting gold from Gringotts’ vault, picking up Harry’s school supplies, and meeting Hedwig the owl. A colorful spinner unlocks even more excitement with a fun game. The set also features a couple of random collectible Wizard Card tiles that we talked about the other day. This set is also $39.99 and will be available next month at the LEGO Harry Potter section of the Online LEGO Shop.

As you can see, there are plenty of LEGO Advent Calendars to choose from this year. I’m definitely planning to get the LEGO Friends Advent Calendar as I love those micro-dolls. And speaking if micro-dolls, I also want to get Baby Yoda in a Christmas sweater! What about you? Which LEGO Advent Calendar would you like to get this year? I’m on the fence about the Avengers calendar. I’m not sure yet on what it will cost in Sweden.

Omg! Those babies in Christmas sweaters. That will be the one for me.!! 😀

Yeah, strange choice. I don’t know if those micro-dolls are a lot cheaper to produce than mini-dolls, since the older advent calendars only used to come with two mini-dolls…

I’m disappointed that the HP one doesn’t have any Christmas sweaters. Those are some of my favorite parts. I like the Star Wars one the most this year.

Gotta have the Star Wars one and the Marvel one for the mini builds. I prefer those over the special minifigs. Of course, I won’t say no to Baby Yoda. 😀

How do you guys use the advent calendars? Are you all using it to count down to Christmas or just take everything out at once and use the parts?

I usually wait until Christmas, then open them all at once. 🙄

If I’d buy the Marvel calendar, I guess I’d try to open a tab each day as intended, although it’s likely I’ll skip every two or three days due to getting busy with other things, and open three-four days in a row, instead…
