LEGO Santa’s Visit Designer-Video & Holiday Gift Shop

LEGO designer Chris McVeigh was well known for his delightful LEGO Christmas decorations and other models even before he started working for the LEGO company a couple of years ago (you can find his earlier projects on his website, chrismcveigh.com). Since he was hired by LEGO, he worked on the LEGO Brick Sketches series (which is a project he started even before he became a LEGO designer), the #10278 LEGO Creator Expert Police Station (the latest in the LEGO Modular Building Series), and the #10289 LEGO Bird of Paradise (from the LEGO Botanical Collection). And Chris also designed two of the LEGO Winter Village sets, the #10275 LEGO Winter Village Elf Club House from last year, and the newly released #10293 LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Visit from this year.

We already talked about the latest of the LEGO Winter Village collection (see: LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Visit Press-Release). But to recap, this set adds another festively decorated building to the beloved series, and it’s all about a family waiting in anticipation for Santa’s arrival.

The house measures over 7.5 in. (19 cm) high, 10.5 in. (27 cm) wide, and 6.5 in. (16 cm) deep. It has a unique layout with the front folding inward at the front, which really opens up the play area at the back. There is room for a full kitchen, a dining area, a living room with a large fireplace, a loft bedroom for the little girl, and more.

There are lots of little play features and accessories both inside and outside, but the two main features are that Santa can actually slide down the chimney and that the Christmas tree can light up. In the video below, LEGO designer Chris McVeigh and LEGO graphic designer Matt Parson will show you the set in great detail.

The #10293 LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Visit set is already available for LEGO VIP members, and the regular release will be on October 1st. The price is $99.99, which is the usual price for most of the LEGO Winter Village sets. If you would like to purchase the set and the earlier LEGO Winter Village sets, visit the LEGO Creator Expert section of the Online LEGO Shop.

A set that would go really well with the #10293 LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Visit is the also newly released #40499 LEGO Santa’s Sleigh. We talked about this set in detail at LEGO Santa’s Sleigh & The Evolution of LEGO Reindeer.

Also, I wanted to bring to your attention that the Holiday section of the Online LEGO Shop is already open. This is a special section of the website which is especially helpful for people who don’t use the site as often. It has a Holiday Gift Finder based on age and interests, as well as helpful articles. You can find it at all at the Holiday section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Although we’re still a few months away from Christmas, time flies, so it’s a good idea to start building your Christmas shopping list. What do you think? How do you like the latest LEGO Winter Village set? Are you planning to add it to your collection? And what else is going on your Christmas shopping list? The set looks better in the designer video then on the pictures! I wasn’t convinced, but now I like it a lot. I just wish it was a different blue, so it’s not the same as the cottage.

It’s the lighter share of light blue, so it’s not exactly the same, although close.

Which color is that? Bricklink Light Aqua?

My only concern about this set is that because the L shape is towards the front, the open sides are exposed too much. Like you really have to pay attention where you place it so the open sides are not visible.

This was a concern of mine too, but I think we could put some trees to the side to hide the openings. Or maybe a big pile of “snow”? I’m not too worried about the back being open, as all the other ones are open too.

I built up the back of the first ones I got, but then later, as they made the designs more complex (aka weird – haha!), I gave up. Now I just line them up so the backs don’t show from the front. But that’s where all the action happens, so it’s best to leave some access.

I love it! And I have also seen people make it in different colors like dark red and tan. But think I like the original blue the best.

It looks like not all the single flywheel bikes are available in the US. They say coming soon but with no release date. Admin, do you know anything about this?

Not sure. I thought I remember all of them being available on 1st. There was perhaps some delay in getting enough stock?
