LEGO Ideas Set – What Does Family Mean to You?

You might remember that back in August there was a contest on LEGO Ideas in collaboration with Target stores with the theme, “What Does Family Mean to You?” After hundreds of submissions, and the fan vote phase of the contest, the LEGO Ideas team announced the winner; Your Family Tree by a LEGO fan who goes by the name Bulldoozer.

The winning submission will join the previously announced Viking Village project also in collaboration with Target and will join the other upcoming LEGO Ideas sets currently in development. (You can read all about how the Viking Village was selected here: Target-Exclusive LEGO Ideas Set & New Contest!)

The runner-up winners were also great projects, including the Station Wagon Vacation by Cryptic Albatross, A Little Moment Of Happiness by Seb_E, and Build Your Family Picture by Finello76.

What do you think? Did you participate in the contest by either entering your own project or voting? And how do you like the selected winner? Is this a set you’re looking forward to? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! And to check out the currently available LEGO Ideas sets, visit the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

I would have liked the station wagon myself, but the family tree is okay too. Are these only going to be sold through Target?

As far as I know, Target doesn’t operate widely outside North America, and Lego has stated that they would end doing similar regular exclusives, so they might also be sold online through Lego.com, I guess…

That’s my understanding is as well. The sets will be sold via Target and LEGO.com. 🙂

Of course, I meant “regional exclusives”. Sorry.

So far as I’ve noticed, Lego sets that are “exclusive” to a certain store are always also sold on Lego.com.

Happy New Year, everyone! We had a nice and quiet Christmas, but that’s how we like it. And some LEGO building of course!

One of the sets we built was the floral art one. I was surprised how much I liked it. I will pay more attention to the mosaic sets from now on.

The challenge with the Art Mosaics is that you will want to more than one. It can get expensive very quickly. Don’t ask me how I know. 😥😄

I like the sunset one. So simple but effective.

    Interesting concept.
It combines two of my hobbies: building my family tree and Lego.
The trick will be to see how flexible the Lego can be — how many generations and how big a family. The original description suggests the ability to add branches and combine models.
I can’t wait to see it.

That’s a good point. I have five brothers and three sisters, and we all have been building with LEGO our entire lives, so the family tree better accommodate us all! 😀
