LEGO Houses of the World Collection

The LEGO Group launched an interesting new series at the beginning of the year, titled LEGO Houses of the World. The series features small buildings, highlighting the architectural styles of different cultures from around the globe. They are marketed as fun gift items for travel and architecture fans and as small projects for anyone interested in different cultures.

The first set in the series, the #40583 LEGO Houses of the World 1, was released in January as a promotional item and is inspired by buildings in South America. The set comes with only 348 pieces and measures only 4 in. (12 cm) high, 3 in. (8 cm) wide, and 3.5 in. (10 cm) deep, but is fully decorated both inside and outside. In addition, the modular design of the set means that this house can be combined with future sets in the series, which will be available separately.

We do not know yet what cultures and styles future sets will feature, but we know they are called #40590 LEGO Houses of the World 2, #40594 LEGO Houses of the World 3, and #40599 LEGO Houses of the World 4. It is not known if these also will be promotional sets, or if they will be available for purchase separately.

A similar collection was the now discontinued LEGO Architecture Skyline series with micro-builds of well-known structures from major cities. Another similar collection still available is the LEGO Postcard series featuring small vignettes from New York, Paris, London, Beijing, and Australia. They are available at the Online LEGO Shop.

I like small sets like these. They are quick but fun builds, often include interesting pieces and unique building techniques and make nice gift items without spending a fortune. I’m looking forward to future sets in the collection.

What about you? How do you like the new LEGO Houses of the World series? What other architectural styles would you like to see in the collection? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

Neat. Reminds me of the mini modulars.

They should also include a minifig from the same culture. That would be cool!

Nice small building. I hope they will be available for sale instead of just a promotion.

These sets are quite sizeable builds, but they’ve been criticized for the very hight threshold required as a Gift With Purchase. Hopefully, they could also be acquired in alternative ways.
