LEGO Ideas Tales of Space Set Coming Soon!

Today, the LEGO Group unveils a set bound to blast off the shelves – the #21340 LEGO Ideas Tales of the Space Age set. Based on a minimalistic expression of the romance of the universe, alongside having the same visual style as the classic posters from the 80s, the set colorfully expresses the tales of the space age with a retro graphic made from LEGO bricks.

The four-piece postcard-sized set is vibrant and showcases an overarching story of a space shuttle, moon base, black hole, lunar eclipse, different star constellations, and more. Additionally, it offers lots of flexibility in how it can be arranged, as each picture is physically independent of the others.

Designed by Poland-based, LEGO fan designer Jan Woźnica who is an IT Professional when not building with LEGO bricks. Jan entered the LEGO Ideas ‘Out of This World’ challenge and was inspired by the classic sci-fi posters and book covers when creating this design.

The #21340 LEGO Tales of the Space Age set is available from the 5th of May for LEGO VIPs and the 8th of May for all via official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop. Prices are as follows: 49.99 EUR/ 79.99 AUD/ 44.99 GBP/ 499.0 CNY/ 1249.9 TRY/ 49.99 USD/ 64.99 CAD. For more information, visit the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Those lines to make the skylight are so effective. I would like to use this technique for my city.

My favorite is the one with the double moon. But the others are great too. I hope people come up with other designs too. It seems like we could have a whole series!

Good design, but I’m still on the fence. Mostly due to space and time issues*, I need to prioritize my buys for the foreseeable future.

    *Pun relatively theoretically intended…

Neat! Good idea with the lines to make the skyline! I’m tempted to get it!

They look lovely, not sure they’ll make it into my cart what with all the other great LEGO sets these days, but I’m tempted for sure… 😉

Lego sure is embracing more experimental stuff these days. You always expect things from the fan community that the toy company themselves wouldn’t do, but Lego is really going for it with stuff like this. I’d be curious to see what ideas sets have sold the least. We’ve only gotten a taste of what the buying community favors during the three bricklink crowdfunding rounds.
