There is finally news on the LEGO Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. submission! You might remember from previous updates that this project reached 10,000 supporters and was under review, but the LEGO Ideas team needed more time to decide if they are going to let it pass the review stage. And the wait was worth it because yesterday they announced that it is indeed going to become an official LEGO set!
The Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. project was submitted by LEGO fan T0BY1KENOBI25150. You can read more about the project in this interview with the designer. The LEGO Ideas team is still working out the final product design, pricing, and availability for this new set, but at least we know that it is definitely coming!
Another piece of news from the LEGO Ideas team is that 35 projects that hit the 10,000 supporter milestone between early May 2024 and early September are now under review. (Product ideas hitting 10,000 supporters after this deadline will be eligible for the next review period which starts at the beginning of January 2025.) These projects will be evaluated by the LEGO Ideas team. Here I’m only sharing a summary picture of all the projects, but you can find larger images in this blog post at the LEGO Ideas website.
While we’re waiting for further announcements on these projects, you can also check out the currently available sets originally designed by LEGO fans at the LEGO Ideas sections of the Online LEGO Shop.

Ahhh! Pixar lamp! I’m looking forward to that one!
It’s interesting that the Pixar mascot has become iconic enough that people want this set. On the other hand, it is just a desk lamp, and that really fits well with recent spat of oddball sets of brickbuilt household items that are actually really interesting and innovative builds.
Apparently, the film was made without Luxo’s permission, so there was some rights issues concerning the merchandise. It’s only allowed to look like a real Luxo Lamp in the movies, themselves, IIRC…
