LEGO Lord of the Rings: Rivendell Expansions

A couple of days ago, LEGO announced the upcoming #10354 LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings: The Shire set. This is the third large LEGO Lord of the Rings set released in the LEGO Icons line after the #10316 LEGO Lord of the Rings: Rivendell and the #10333 LEGO Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr sets.

And although these display sets are already large and highly detailed, some LEGO fans take them further by making them even more elaborate. A great example is by LEGO fan Fanpeixi who greatly expanded on the #10316 LEGO Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set and also shares instructions.

The first Rivendell expansion utilizes two copies of the #10316 LEGO Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set plus extra parts to recreate the complete facade of the building from the movie as much as possible. More pictures, instructions, and parts-list are available at this Rebrickable.com page.

If you still want to build more, Fanpeixi just released a second expansion, adding a mountain base to the entire display. The landscape features hillsides, waterfalls, caves, and stairs for each exit, plus lots of vegetation for the ultimate Rivendell experience. More pictures, instructions, and parts-list are available at this Rebrickable.com page.

And if you just want to add a mountain base to the original #10316 LEGO Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set, there is an option for that too with downloadable instructions and parts-list at this Rebrickable.com page.

Fanpeixi also created a micro version of Rivendell for those with space and budget restraints. Even though this display is small it still includes many authentic references and lots of details. You can find downloadable instructions at this Rebrickable.com page.

If you already have the #10316 LEGO Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set and you want to make it even larger and more beautiful, these expansions may give you inspiration. And if you don’t have the set yet, you can find it at the LEGO Icons section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Rivendell set? Have you built it already? And have you considered making it even larger? What do you think of the expansions highlighted here? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

I made Lady Galadriel lothlorian ( it’s hard to spell Tolkien lingo). I used the smaller version of the Council of the Ring and added some white steps and the Basin of water. It’s small but, it works. Oh I also added some brightly colored flowers and a few mushrooms with a lot of green foliage . 😊

This is very inspiring. I have been listening to the audiobook version of the LOTR, and can totally visualize these spaces.
