Four New LEGO Ideas Sets Coming!

The LEGO Ideas team announced four new sets that will be coming soon! Take a look below and let’s discuss!

Introducing the #40789 LEGO Ideas Flying Moon Car! The model was originally submitted to the LEGO Ideas Exploring the Cosmos Challenge by LEGO fan EnchantingNoodle, also known as Teddy, back in 2024. The model was then finalized by LEGO’s own designers. The set consists of 211 pieces, designed for adult model-builders and fans of cool cars. The buildable vehicle is supported above the lunar surface by a pedestal and has flames projecting from the tailpipes. Inside the car are two space-traveler minifigures wearing their spacesuits. A helpful sign points the way to the moon-based motorist’s destination. To increase options for display, the vehicle can be detached from its support pedestal. This LEGO Insiders Reward set will be 2,500 LEGO Insiders Points and available starting on July 1st.

The second newly announced set is the #40788 LEGO Ideas Friendly Snails, which was dreamed up for the Build the Gift of Purchase Set of Your Dreams Challenge by LEGO fan Jagamax, also known as Maxime, also back in 2024. This gift-with-purchase set is a garden creatures display model designed with adult fans of nature and animals in mind. The build-and-display set features two snails with decorated shells, a bee, a log, a rock, a puddle, and greenery. The scene is assembled on a single sturdy base that allows the whole set to be safely picked up and moved. To increase options for display, the snails can be detached and placed beyond the set’s base. This gift-with-purchase set will be available starting on July 1st, and added to your cart at the Online LEGO Shop with a minimum purchase of €160 / $160 USD.

At the turn of the year, the LEGO Ideas team tasked fans of the 90s with two nostalgic challenges to help take a trip down memory lane and celebrate the last decade of the 20th century. From rockin’ music to iconic television shows, films and board games, there’s no doubt the 90s were full of cultural moments to remember.

For the first of the 90s challenges, Build Your Nostalgia – 90s Throwback!, the LEGO Ideas team asked LEGO fans to channel their nostalgia into epic builds that were between 1,000-5,000 pieces. With a sizeable brick count, it meant fans could go larger-than-life with their models or take deep dives into their favorite TV shows and movies from the 90s. The 192 submissions included intricate recreations of movie scenes, giant posters, huge versions of 90s characters, and even bookends. The winner of this challenge is The X-Files: The Truth Is Out There by LEGO fan WetWired, featuring the popular 90s sci-fi drama series with a forest UFO scene above a recreation of Mulder’s famous basement office, complete with the iconic “I Want To Believe” poster. The build features approximately 2,020 pieces and includes minifigures such as Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, “Grey” Alien, The Jersey Devil, Assistant Director Walter Skinner, Syndicate Leader, and Eugene Tooms.

The second challenge, 90s Throwback – The Next Chapter!, was an opportunity to get stuck into all things 90s movies and TV, but now with a smaller brick count – entries had to be between 200-1,000 pieces. In collaboration with Target, this challenge brought a fresh opportunity to build an iconic moment, a beloved character, or a recreation of a memorable prop. This challenge had 268 submissions with an amazing variety of nostalgic builds. The winner is Wallace & Gromit by LEGO fan Pidelium from the beloved 90s stop-motion animations, ready for an adventure on their iconic motorcycle and sidecar. Bold colors and detailed design help bring this instantly recognizable duo to life, who featured in classic 90s movies, Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers (1993) and Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave (1995).

These two models join the other upcoming LEGO Ideas set, originally designed by LEGO fans and currently under development. They will be available at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.
