One of the most interesting new sets released this month is the #21357 LEGO Ideas Disney Pixar Luxo Jr., the endearing and playful character from the first CGI animated film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award.

The model was originally designed and submitted to the LEGO Ideas platform by Toby Brett (TOBY1KENOBI on LEGO Ideas), a physics student at the University of Manchester, England. The model was then refined by LEGO’s own designers before it was released as an official LEGO set.

The model is fully articulated to recreate the character’s bouncing, hopping, and rotating movements. The set also includes a buildable Disney Pixar ball that opens up to reveal hidden Easter eggs referencing popular Disney Pixar movies Up, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, and Finding Nemo. You can even display Luxo Jr. standing on the ball as if deflating it, just like in the 1986 short film.

In the video-review below, you can see the articulation in action as well as all the Easter eggs found in the set.
The #21357 LEGO Ideas Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. set can appeal to young and old LEGO fans alike, as well as both hardcore and casual LEGO fans. It’s cute, fun, not too big, not too small, a display model with play-features that provides an engaging building experience. And the price is very reasonable as well. If you want to check it out, it’s available at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Pixar Lamp? Do you have the set already? Or are you planning to get it? Feel free to share your thoughts and own reviews in the comment section below!
