Wow. As a license, this is going to be huge!
I bet that if this set performs well, they will release a $1000 version one in a couple of years. 😀
Yes, likely. Haha. Although I don’t know if Star Trek is as big as Star Wars.
Is there a picture of the freebie?
Yes, I just added it. It was not available with the press release.
Thanks!
I know it’s a Futurama meme, but LEGO TAKE MY MONEY!
So I guess Mattel/Mega lost the license? I’m not complaining. LEGO did a much better job. Star Trek fans will go nuts over this.
It’s amazing how often these licenses change hands. We already know Lego has picked up the Pokemon license after Mega had it for a hot minute.
Lego had TMNT a few years back but recently I’ve been spotting TMNT sets under a low-budget not-Lego brand at Five Below stores.
Hasbro’s Kreo had Star Trek briefly as well, and they did Transformers stuff too. Now that entire toy line is long-abandoned and Lego is doing Transformers sets.
This would not have been possible with all the new curved pieces. It looks quite convincing. I like it. And people will go nuts for the minifigs!
