LEGO room décor & furniture designs

I have recently discovered a LEGO fan who’s interior designs I really like. They go by the name simplybrickingit on flickr, and they have a very nice collection of custom LEGO creations. However, what really caught my eyes are the clean and sophisticated interior spaces displayed in an unusual cutaway presentation. The models are minifig size, not too big, not too small, and perfect for getting inspiration for building your own interiors. Below I will show you some of my favorites. 🙂

Take a look a the beautiful boudoir above with parquet style flooring, using LEGO tiles and plates sideways. The furniture is made of various unusual little bits of white pieces. The flowers on the wall, and the light-aqua diamonds on the room-divider are from the retired LEGO Clikits line.

This second room appears to be a child’s bedroom. There are a couple of LEGO Friends turtles on the shelf that look like stuffed animals. The cloth bedding is from the old LEGO Scala line, and there is a big lavender wardrobe with a white door.

The focal point of the living room is the cozy fireplace, but there are many other interesting details to check out, the bookshelf, the rub on the floor, the big reading chair in the corner, and the very cleverly built clock, using the top of a turntable piece backward.

I really like the colors here with the lime-green and white checkered wall, tan and white cabinets and appliances, and light-gray flooring. Again, the cutaway design works very well.

You can see some nice sideways building techniques in the bathroom as also. The white, yellow, dark-tan goes well together. I would love to put some soap bottles, shampoos and other bits and pieces around! You can see other great custom creations on simplybrickingit’s flickr page.

There is a lot you can achieve with a few well-selected LEGO elements and colors, as demonstrated in these models. Also, you don’t always have to build a whole structure. You can achieve very striking presentation with a carefully set up and photographed cutaway. I save images like these for future reference when I’m working on interiors, like for the LEGO Modular Buildings (follow the link to see them at the Online LEGO Shop). Even a single cleverly built chair, desk, sink, cupboard, or wall-decoration can make a significant difference when you are decorating a living-space.

What do you think? How do you like these interior designs? Are there any particular details that you really like? Feel free to share your thoughts, and your own favorite interior decorations in the comment section below! 😉

LEGO Friends exciting hobbies collection

I recently got a couple of the smaller LEGO Friends sets, and discovered something interesting; they go together! There are five LEGO Friends sets in this small, but very charming collection, featuring various hobbies, and they are special in more than one way. Let’s take a look. 🙂

The five sets in the collection are as follows: #41305 LEGO Friends Emma’s Photo Studio, #41306 LEGO Friends Mia’s Beach Scooter, #41307 LEGO Friends Olivia’s Creative Lab, #41308 LEGO Friend’s Stephanie’s Friendship Cakes, and #41309 LEGO Friends Andrea’s Musical Duet.

All of the five sets are full of interesting, very useful, and even new LEGO elements. For example, the #41305 LEGO Friends Emma’s Photo Studio includes three recolored pieces that only appear in this set; the dark-blue umbrella, medium-dark-flesh flowerpot, and sand-blue kitten named Chico. You also get two pieces in the new and very fresh looking yellowish-green color. That’s a lot of new colors for such a small set! And the fun doesn’t stop there. The set also includes some sweet accessories like small flowers, sunglasses, camera, crown, hairbrush, the new clear 1×1 round tiles with pin, and more.

Similarly, in the #41306 LEGO Friends Mia’s Beach Scooter includes a recolored scooter in lavender. This is only the third color for the scooter piece, which previously appeared in red and light-aqua. You also get two surfboards; one is plain lime color, and the other is white with a very nice swirly design. The printed surfboard only appeared in a couple of other sets, so it’s quite unique. The trans-purple pair of sunglasses is another nice piece.

The #41307 LEGO Friends Olivia’s Creative Lab is very fun with a selection of nine small tools in dark-azure, a printed 3×3 round dish, a printed 2×2 tile with studs representing the top of a shipping box, and several re-colors of previously released elements. The three little robots (Zobo, Zuzu and Zobito) are super cute, and you can park them in their charging stations. Zobito comes with a baby bottle… I will let you figure that out…

The #41308 LEGO Friend’s Stephanie’s Friendship Cakes set is full of delicious cakes, and not just any type of cakes; if you look at them carefully, you will notice that they each represent one of the five friends based on their favorite colors. Besides all of the cupcake pieces and cake decorations, there is also a printed window-pane, printed 1×2 note tile (a new piece), and printed milk-carton (which is not new, but always nice to have more of). Other useful pieces are the white cooking pot (only appeared in three previous sets), light-aqua 2×2 round bricks, pearl-gold faucet, and more. As you can see, there are really no bad or boring parts in these sets!

The last set in the collection is the #41309 LEGO Friends Andrea’s Music Duet. Here you get a brand new guitar print and a recolored bird (both exclusive to this set), three microphones with gold heads (one is an extra), a 2×2 tile with music sheet (not new, but always good to have), some nice light-aqua slope pieces, and more. I got this set because I collect printed LEGO guitars and the different variations of the bird. If you plan to collect them as well, we have discussed the different printed guitars just a few days ago (see link at the end of this post), and there have been seven versions of the bird so far; white, bright-light-orange, lavender, light-turquoise, dark-turquoise, lime-green and dark-brown.

You will also notice that each of the sets includes a “LEGO Friends best friend charm” made up of two interlocked 2×3 modified plates with hole. This is a simple, but very popular design LEGO fans have been using for many years to make a heart shape, and even wear it on a necklace or bracelet. The heart is a different color in each set.

In summary, I would say these are some of the best of the first wave of 2017 sets money can buy. They are only $9.99 each, and as you can see, are full of interesting parts and lovely colors. Even if you are not into LEGO Friends, you can’t go wrong with these. All the accessories can be used with regular LEGO minifigures, and the sheer number of unique colors and elements are definitely worth it. You can find all five sets under the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like these small LEGO Friends sets? Do you have any of them already? Or are you planning to get them? Feel free to share your own thoughts and review in the comment section below! 😉
