Back in the summer, the Finnish video-game company Rovio Entertainment announced their collaboration with the LEGO Group to release Angry Birds related sets, to coincide with the upcoming Angry Birds 3D computer-animated action comedy film scheduled for release in July of 2016. The initial reaction from LEGO fans was quite dismissive of the whole idea. The German and US versions of the 2016 LEGO Catalog we discussed the other day (see link at the end of this post), did not include the LEGO Angry Birds sets, however the Russian version did, and now we have a change to get a first glimpse of the sets. 🙂

LEGO Angry Birds Sets 2016

The characters themselves don’t really look like LEGO, but the sets appear to be quite interesting and well designed. There are six sets in the theme, and while we don’t know their official names yet, we do know which characters they come with. The #75821 LEGO Angry Birds is a small set with Chuck and a Piggy. The #75822 LEGO Angry Birds set comes with a wacky looking plane, Pilot Pig and Red. The #75823 LEGO Angry Birds is a medium size set with Red, Matilda and Biker Pig. The #75824 LEGO Angry Birds set looks really fun with a lot of destruction features, plus Red, Stella and two pigs. The #75825 LEGO Angry Birds is one of the largest sets in the theme with an awesome pirate ship, Red, Bomb, Pirate Pig and Leonard. And the biggest is the #75826 LEGO Angry Birds sets with a great looking castle, King Pig, Chef Pig, Foreman Pig, Red and Mighty Eagle as the characters.

Pretty much all of the sets include a catapult to launch the birds, but knowing LEGO, I’m sure that are other fun play-features as well. All in all the sets look much better than I expected, and if the film does well, the sets should be flying off the shelves also. If not, then we will have fun sets to buy for parts. I definitely want those eggs…

What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Angry Birds sets now that you had a chance to see some pictures? Are they better or worse then you expected? Do you plan to get any of them? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

LEGO Star Wars Force Awakens sets vs. film

The film that everybody is talking about right now is of course Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And for LEGO fans this naturally means to compare the first wave of LEGO Star War: The Force Awakens sets already released to what we see in the movie. 🙂

LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens Sets

In the video-review below JANGBRiCKS goes through all of the new LEGO Star Wars vehicles, and looks at them from the perspective of how they compare to the movie version. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie yet, there are no plot-spoilers in the video. JANG only talks about things like size and color comparison, and some of the functions of the vehicles. So again, the video is safe to watch if you haven’t seen the film yet.

I believe JANG’s comparisons are fair, although I do like the new black/orange (or as JANG calls it; Halloween color) X-wing better than he does. But what do you think? How do you like the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets? Would love to hear your opinion, so feel free to share in the comment section below!
