As we have recently discussed (see links at the end of this post), the #76042 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SHIELD Helicarrier was just released a few days ago. It is only available for LEGO VIP members right now, but will get a wider release next month. This has been one of the most anticipated sets of the year, and while it looks amazing on pictures, it is hard to get the scope and size without seeing it in more detail. So in the video-review below Jason from the Brick Show will show you the set from every possible angle, and in the second video he will also show you how to add power-functions. 🙂

The #76042 LEGO Super Heroes SHIELD Helicarrier is an Ultimate Collector Series set, so the focus is on adding accurate details, and also to make it as big and impressive as possible for display purposes. It is nice to see though that LEGO was able to incorporate some play-features as well.

The first thing you will notice from the video-review below is that the box of this set is humongous! But it is always fun to open such large LEGO boxes; you know it is going to be full of fun!

Also, notice in the video-review the size of the instruction booklet! In fact it can no longer be called a booklet; with over 400 pages it is a serious manual! While in the past LEGO used to add several smaller booklets with larger sets, this year they started to include only one larger and better quality book, no matter what’s the size of the set. While having just one book is nicer and neater, the downside is that if you are building with friends, you can no longer separate out tasks – each of you working from a different booklet.

And take a look at the nice printing on the minifigs! Jason doesn’t mention this, but Maria Hill actually have the SHIELD emblem printed on her right shoulder. Arm-printing is still fairly rare for LEGO, so this is a super-special and really cool looking detail. See full video-review below:
In the second video Jason will show you exactly how to add power-functions to the LEGO SHIELD Helicarrier. Even if you have never worked with power-functions before, you will see how easy it is. At the back of the instruction book LEGO provides a list of the power-function elements you need and also step-by-step instructions on how to install them in the set. And you can also follow along the video to see how to add them. You can get the power-function elements directly from LEGO. The parts you need are as follows: #88000 LEGO Battery Box, #8883 LEGO M-Motor and #8870 LEGO Lights. That’s it. You can find them all at the LEGO Power Functions section of the Online LEGO Shop.
With or without power-function, the #76042 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SHIELD Helicarrier is definitely an incredible set that should delight Marvel fans and collectors. As I have mentioned, currently it is only available for LEGO VIP members (make sure you are signed in with your VIP account to get it), and it will be more widely available in March. You can find it listed under the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? Now that you had a chance to see the LEGO SHIELD Helicarrier in more detail how do you like it? Are you planning to get it for your collection? And how do you like it with power-functions? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉
