LEGO Customizer BrickForge Mega Update

(Written by ninja5)

One of our most favorite LEGO customizers is BrickForge.com, and since we haven’t done an update on them for a while, it is time to take a look at their new items and current specials. A lot has been going on over at the Forge, so let’s take a look at what’s new.

Custom LEGO by BrickForge Rigged Wave 3

Custom LEGO RiGGED Accessories – Wave 3: The final wave of the WWII RiGGED products was released a while ago, but since they have not been mentioned here as of yet, I thought it was a good idea to have them covered. RiGGED is a modular system of custom LEGO accessories by BrickForge that can be mixed and matched in many different ways (see links at the end of this post for more info). This latest wave has the bonus/accessory trooper type stuff (Sergeant, Medic, and Soldier with Flamethrower). A lot of the new accessories are actually re-colored pieces from previous releases, but there are a few new ones also. In addition, there was a huge restock of all the pieces in grays and blacks in late November. The new colors match other themes better, so that you can use the modular RiGGED system for your modern combat and sci-fi minifigures.

As you can see on the picture above, in this wave the Gas Mask, Equipment Belt, Holster, Canister, Fuel Tank, Flamethrower, Grease Gun (with peg-hole), Medical Supplies, Round Clip, Axe Head, and Shovel (with peg-hole) are all brand-new items. My personal favorites are the medic supplies, because you need someone to help your wounded soldiers.

Custom LEGO Minifigures by BrickForge

Custom LEGO Accessories – 30 Under $.30: Can you believe that BrickForge is already on their 18th round of specials? In case you don’t remember from our previous discussion, 30 under $.30 is a sale where 30 random items that have passed their optimal shelf-life are put on sale for under 30 cents. Custom LEGO accessories are often expensive as they are made in small batches by LEGO fans, but BrickForge always had fair prices. And these clearance deals give you even better offers, and allows you to grab bulk minifigure accessories for your LEGO armies and other minifigures. Some pretty neat ones this time are the Wizard Sword in bronze, the Kunai in silver, and the Turban in sand-green.

Custom LEGO Accessories Sale by BrickForge

Custom LEGO Accessories – December Promotions: On orders of over $15, you can get a free Gemstone Pack, and extra packs are on sale for only $3, instead of $6. Previously they had the Splat Pack, and the Bottles Pack – all very popular and useful items. This is a great way to get some really nice accessories in bulk. I hope BrickForge will continue with these specials in the future as well.

Custom LEGO by BrickForge December Special

Another promotion this month is the Win Your Wish-List Contest. Here is the official announcement: “Thousands of fanatics receive their favorite BrickForge accessories in the post each year, but do you ever wonder what happens to those well-intentioned wish lists that sit long-forgotten? About this time each year BrickForge staff members send all idle customer Wish-Lists to the North Pole in hopes that Santa Claus (or other festive philanthropist) will grant at least one BrickForge fan their Wish-List. These lists are sorted by Fizzlewick, the official Wish-List Assessor, who helps determine which of the ‘nice’ boys & girls should be granted one last gift this year.” You can read more about how to receive up to $100.00 of BrickForge items PLUS a free custom minifig here. Please note that the deadline for this promotion is tomorrow, so you better start adding things to your wish-list now for a chance to win! 🙄

Custom LEGO Special by BrickForge

Custom LEGO Accessories – Easter Egg Items: There are some new printed items that I call “Easter Eggs”, because they are not advertised, and can be hard to find. There are two new Round Pauldron prints, one with a cross and the other a crown. A handful of Swords and Spears now also have printed variants, where the hilt/shaft is one color and the blade/point is another. These items are a little more expensive than standard ones, but are way cooler. I will let you find them yourself, because that’s part of the fun.

Custom LEGO Accessories – Cheats & Other: Yes, I know that’s a weird title, but there are actually cheat-codes that you can use to get small discounts, like 10-15% off! The first one I will give to you, but the others take a little work on your part. To get 10% off, use the coupon-code “bwshow2014”. This code actually expired on November 30th, but there are still other ways to get discounts – and here’s one that takes a little more work: you should be able to get 10% off every year, by entering “bwshow” and then the year. However the drawback is that this only works once a year, and only after July 1st. Another little cheat is to complete the survey on the side tab that asks, “What is your favorite RiGGED accessory?” (or something along those lines). You will get a slightly larger discount coupon for that. Also, the BrickForge guys will listen to requests and petitions. I asked to have several items brought back, and they actually did bring back most of them. I just posted my petition at the BrickForge forum, and it seemed to work. If you are reading this, thanks BrickForge team!

LEGO Elves website, story & teaser-trailer

As we have discussed previously (see links at the end of this post), there is a brand new LEGO theme coming next year called LEGO Elves. While the official release is not until March 2015, LEGO already put up the LEGO Elves website. There is not much yet besides a teaser video, but it does give us some insight into this new theme. So let’s take a look! 🙂

LEGO Elves Teaser Trailer

As you can see, the official LEGO Elves website is just one page right now that simply says (talking in typical elvish rhyme): “Stay tuned for the story, soon it is here! Believe and March will turn magic this year!” Then there is a teaser video that you can also watch below:

Interesting, isn’t it? The five characters on the picture and in the video above from left to right are Aira Whisperwind (elf girl representing air), Farran Leafshade (elf boy representing earth), Emily Jones (human girl), Naida Riverheart (elf girl representing water), and Azari Firedancer (elf girl representing fire). The story follows Emily Jones (the human girl) on her exciting journey through the magical world of Elvendale. It all starts at a mysterious door at her grandmother’s garden, that turns out to be a portal to the land of the Elves. The only way Emily can get back home is to find four keys, but she can only manage this with the help of her elven friends.

I’m pretty sure there is going to be further teasers coming between now and the official release to tell us more about the story, however it is not known at this point if the adventure will unfold through short videos at the official LEGO Elves website only, or will there also be a TV show. In any case, we know there are going to be six LEGO Elves sets released in March, which we discussed previously, but I will list them again below for your convenience. Also, notice that in the teaser-video there is a big castle in the background. It is very likely that this is an important location in the story (perhaps where Emily will need to take the keys), and will be another LEGO Elves sets released at a later date. 🙄

So far I like everything about LEGO Elves. The sets are just lovely with all those fantastic new elements, sweet colors, and cute mini-dolls. It is a nice expansion of the LEGO Friends line into the realm of fantasy. I can see these sets becoming very popular with both young boys and girls, and of course adults too. LEGO Friends and LEGO Disney Princess (both using the mini-dolls instead of the regular minifigures) have been having very strong years, and looks like 2015 is going to be no exception. In addition to those two themes, now we will have LEGO Elves. Looks like LEGO finally found the right angle to appeal to girls who would otherwise not be into LEGO and construction toys. You can check out the currently available LEGO Friends and LEGO Disney Princess at the Online LEGO Shop.
