LEGO Ideas Exo Suit back in stock!

As you probably know, the highly coveted and very hard to find #21109 LEGO Ideas Exo Suit has been in a perpetual “temporarily out of stock” state since the beginning of August at the Online LEGO Shop. According to the official LEGO Ideas blog, both the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit, and the #21110 LEGO Ideas Research Institute should have been restocked, however that never actually happened. The LEGO Ideas Research Institute has been shown as “sold out” since mid-August, and as I mentioned the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit never got restocked either. 😕

#21109 LEGO Exo Suit Review

I have heard that some official LEGO stores did get more sets in limited quantities, but as you can imagine, those disappeared fast. Also, relatively speaking very few people live close to an actual LEGO store. So at this point, for most of us, it seems that it’s time to turn to the secondary market, instead of keep waiting and hoping. I can’t give you any good news about the LEGO Ideas Research Institute. It is available on Amazon, eBay and BrickLink (you can follow the links to the listings), however prices are in the $70-$80 range, which is 3-4 times more than the original price. As this is a fairly simple set, you probably would be better off just building it yourself.

#21110 LEGO Research Institute Female Set Review

On the other hand I have very good news about the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit! It has been available on Amazon in the past three weeks, and for less than the original retail price! (Just a few cents less, but it is nice to find this set anywhere near the original price!) One thing though is that the set keeps getting sold out pretty fast (like within a few hours) and then relisted for a higher price. In fact, I have meant to write about the sale three times already, and each time the deal disappeared before I even finished the article! However after a day or two the lower price was back again. So I decided to just let you know that the deal exists, and if at the time of this post the price shows up as higher, then just check back the next day to see if it is back in stock again for the lower price.

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit on Amazon

The original price of the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit is $34.99. On Amazon it is listed for $34.95 and that’s the deal you should be seeing. When stock gets low, the price is raised to about $50, but as I said; if you just wait a day or so the lower price should be back. I don’t know how long this deal with last, so if you want a LEGO Ideas Exo Suit, grab it now! I ordered two myself last week (at that time there was a limit of two per order, and I also wanted to meet the free shipping threshold). Here is the listing on Amazon: BUY LEGO IDEAS EXO SUIT ON AMAZON

I hope this helps those of you who have been waiting for the restock of this set. This is an excellent deal, especially if you combine it with another item (either a second LEGO set, or even non-LEGO related items like books, media, office supplies, and the host of other things Amazon offers) to meet the free shipping threshold of $35 minimum. Also, Amazon charges no sales-tax to many states. It is unlikely that prices on the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit will ever come down, so being able to get it for the original retail price is as good as it will get. I normally don’t like to twist anyone’s arms to do something, but if you ever wanted this set, please take my advice, and get it now. And if you are interested to learn more about the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit, you can read our previous reviews and discussions linked to at the end of this post. It is one of my all time favorite LEGO sets so yeah, I can’t shut up about it.

The BrotherhoodWorkshop, our favorite LEGO stop-motion film-maker, posted another fun LEGO video, and most importantly (at least to me), a behind-the-scenes tutorial on how some of the effects in the film were achieved. The video is titled LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy: Star-Lord’s Mix Tape. You can watch both the film and the tutorial below. Enjoy! 🙂

LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy by the BrotherhoodWorkshop

In this video Star-Lord share his love for old-fashioned cassette-players (remember those?). Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora and Drax however don’t share his enthusiasm, and when Star-Lord’s device breaks down, he has no choice but the get with the times…

Like we have seen in previous films by the BrotherhoodWorkshop, Kevin is happy to share his tips and tricks of how the film was made. In the following behind-the-scenes footage, he shares how the effects of Star-Lord’s helmet, the rotating cassette-player, and some of the other scenes in the video were made. This is incredibly valuable information for LEGO stop-motion film-makers they can use in their own LEGO stop-motion films.

Interesting, isn’t it? While they are various tricks to make a LEGO stop-motion film as smooth and professional as possible, looks like the most important skill still remains patience, a desire for perfection, and very strong work-ethics. Kevin and his team are a great inspiration in this.

The LEGO Super Heroes sets and characters used in this film are from the recently released LEGO Super Heroes Guardians of the Galaxy line, including the awesome and very popular #76021 LEGO Super Heroes Milano Spaceship Rescue set (with Star-Lord, Gamora and Drax), and #76020 LEGO Super Heroes Knowhere Escape Mission (with Groot and Rocket Raccoon). If you are interested you can check them out at the Online LEGO Shop.
