LEGO Speed Champions supercars in 2015

There has been rumors of a new LEGO racing theme with supercars coming in 2015, but there was very little known about this new line besides the set names we have discussed previously (see: 2015 LEGO Sets News & Rumors…) A few days ago it was revealed that the theme is going to be called LEGO Speed Champions and pictures of the sets have been revealed on YouTube. So let’s take a look! 🙂

LEGO Speed Champions Pictures

There are seven sets in the new LEGO Speed Champions line, and I have to say they look really excellent. There has been small LEGO race cars released before, however they were usually smaller than minifigure scale. The #60053 LEGO City Race Car that we got earlier this year is minifig scale, and it turned out to be popular with LEGO fans who took up the task of building different color versions of it. There was obviously a demand for minifigure scale race cars, and LEGO didn’t disappoint. Below is the list of upcoming LEGO Speed Champions sets with pictures.

#75899 LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari F150 – note that wonderful new windscreen, and also new fenders. The graphics on all of the cars appear to be stickers – sadly. One concern I have is that in the past in all LEGO sets with the Ferrari logo the minifigs also had stickers on their torsos (if the torso design included the logo). My understanding is that this has to do with LEGO’s policy that they use stickers for all logos that belong to another brand (i.e. Ferrari, Maersk, etc.). I really-really hope that this is not the case with these sets.

#75908 LEGO Speed Champions 458 Italia GT2 – this is my favorite race car in this line. Stickers or not, I absolutely love it and plan to get it as soon as it gets released. Beautiful curves, wonderful design. In fact all of these race cars have a really pleasing look.

#75909 LEGO Speed Champions McLaren P1 – this is another beauty. Note the snowboard in yellow used for the back fin – it looks perfect.

#75909 LEGO Speed Champions

#75910 LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 918 Spyder – another wonderful supercar in muted colors. This will actually look great in LEGO City sets as well for your more affluent minifigs. 😀

#75910 LEGO Speed Champions

#75911 LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Mercedes Pit-Stop – here we get a different kind of race car and a whole pit-stop, with lost of tools extra wheels and more for your minifigs to do a quick fix during the race.

#75911 LEGO Speed Champions

#75912 LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 911 GT Finishing-Line – this is my other most favorite set in the line that I’m definitely planning to get. The two race-cars are super sweet, and there are a good bit of extras too, including those flags – which, I assume, are printed.

#75912 LEGO Speed Champions

#75913 LEGO Ferrari F14 & Scuderia Ferrari Truck – this is the largest set in the line, and it is quite similar to previous LEGO Ferrari race-car haulers. Lots of accessories and play features! As I said before; I just hope that the minifig torsos are not stickered this time. Also note the included red scooter!

LEGO cars are very popular with both kids and adults and have been a staple theme at LEGO. Rolling around small vehicles, racing them down a halfway or over obstacles is just a lot of fun. These supercars have a really nice shape and it is a plus that they are minifigure size. If you are planning to get any of these, make sure you get some extra sticker-sheets before they become hard to find. This is the only downside I can see with these sets. And while we are waiting for these to get released you can see the current selection of LEGO cars at the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO The Hobbit 2014 sets video-reviews

The new wave of LEGO The Hobbit sets are most likely the last wave of the LEGO The Hobbit line (and maybe even the end of the LEGO Lord of the Rings/LEGO The Hobbit theme). They are meant to coincide with the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies film in mid-December, which is the last in The Hobbit movie series. YouTube member just2good posted some really nice video-reviews on three of the new sets, so I thought to share them here, to give you an idea what they look like and what to look forward to. 🙂
