2014 LEGO Star Wars sets available now!

We haven’t really talked about the newly released 2014 LEGO Star Wars sets, so I thought it was time to take a look. We did discuss the LEGO Star Wars MicroFigthers (see: 2014 LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters), but not the larger sets, so let’s see what we got, then you can tell me what you think about the new LEGO Star Wars sets. 🙂

2014 LEGO Star Wars Sets

Nine new sets were released in the first wave of the 2014 LEGO Star Wars line, plus four LEGO Star Wars battle-packs and the six LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters sets. None of the sets are big or expensive, so if you are into collecting LEGO Star Wars and like any of the new sets, you are in luck.

Most of the regular 2014 LEGO Star Wars sets are from Episode III of the movies; the #75038 LEGO Star Wars Jedi Interceptor, the #75039 LEGO Star Wars V-Wing Starfighter, the #75040 LEGO Star Wars General Grievous’ Wheel Bike, the #75041 LEGO Star Wars Vulture Droid, the #75042 LEGO Star Wars Droid Drop Gunship, the #75043 LEGO Star Wars AT-AP, and the #75044 LEGO Star Wars Droid Tri-Fighter. Also there are a couple of sets from The Clone Wars; the #75045 LEGO Star Wars Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon and the #75046 LEGO Star Wars Coruscant Police Gunship. If you like to collect minifigures or build up large armies, the LEGO Star Wars battle-packs are for you. There are four battle-packs released so far this year; the #75034 LEGO Star Wars Death Star Troopers, the #75035 LEGO Star Wars Kashyyyk Troopers, the #75036 LEGO Star Wars Utapau Troopers, and the #75037 LEGO Star Wars Battle of Saleucami.

And if you are into small pocket sets, you might want to check out the LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters. Each of them are just about $10, so they won’t break the bank. There are six sets to choose from or collect; the #75028 LEGO Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank, the #75029 LEGO Star Wars AAT, the #75030 LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon, the #75031 LEGO Star Wars TIE Interceptor, the #75032 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Fighter, and the #75033 LEGO Star Wars Star Destroyer.

2014 LEGO Star Wars Micro Fighters

I’m not a huge fan of the regular LEGO Star Wars sets in this wave, but I do like the battle-packs. The Kashyyyk Troopers, Death Star Troopers and Utapau Troopers are particularly nice. I know that the lone Kashyyyk Trooper that was released back in 2005 is a highly prized and sought-after minifigure. It is also interesting to note that LEGO switched over to the new olive-green color for their uniform from the previously used sand-green. I like the sand-green trooper, but I think the olive-green is more movie-accurate. And those little MicroFigthers are kind of cute and I will likely pick up a couple of them. What about you? 😀

2014 LEGO sets – New York Toy Fair report

As we have discussed previously January/February of every year is when the various large international Toy Fairs happen; first in London, then in Germany, then in New York. This is when LEGO themes and sets for the new year get revealed. We have already discussed the London and German Toy Fairs, and today we will talk about the New York Toy Fair! 🙂

2014 LEGO New York Toy Fair Report

I’m not going to repeat all the information that we have discussed in the previous Toy Fair reports; for the upcoming set names and prices check out the 2014 LEGO Sets – London Toy Fair Report, and for pictures and videos see the 2014 LEGO Sets – German To Fair Report. However there is some new coverage and videos with more details that I think you will like.

The BrickShow also participated in the Toy Fair and covered pretty much every upcoming set in a series of short videos. You can see those below. Please note that there are 55 videos in this series, and although each of them only take a couple of minutes, the total viewing time is over an hour and a half. If you don’t want to watch all of the videos in order, you can also go to the BrickShow’s YouTube channel to just select the ones you want.

And while we are waiting for the later wave of 2014 LEGO sets to hit the shelves, don’t forget that the first wave of the 2014 LEGO sets are now available! You can find them all listed at the Online LEGO Shop.
