I just got the July/August issue of the LEGO Club Magazine, which includes quite a few pages of information on the new LEGO Legends of Chima sets, as well as a separate insert with even more Chima goodness. One of the biggest news is that the LEGO Legends of Chima TV series weekly episodes are finally coming! As you may remember the first two episodes aired on Cartoon Network all the way back in January (The Legend of Chima & The Great Story), then they were replayed in March with a third episode added (The Warrior Within). According to the LEGO Club Magazine weekly episodes will being on Cartoon Network starting on July 10th! 🙂

LEGO Legends of Chima TV Show Coming

I assume that Cartoon Network will start out by replaying the first three episodes of Legends of Chima, as they aired so long ago probably nobody remembers them. Then continue with new episodes every Wednesday. I’m actually really looking forward to this series. The first three episodes were quite disappointing, but they did have a spark of potential for improvement, so I hope that’s what we are going to see. 😀

LEGO Legends of Chima Characters

The LEGO Club Magazine also has some other interesting details about the world of Chima. For example the page above lists all the Chima animal tribes; the Eagles (Ewald, Eglor, Eris, Equila and Ewar), the Ravens (Rawzom, Rizzo, Razcal and Razar), the Gorillas (Gorzan, G’Loona, Gordo and Grizzam), the Wolves (Worriz, Winzar, Wakz, Wilhurt and Windra), the Lions (Lagravis, Lennox, Longtooth, Laval and Leonidas), the Crocodiles (Crominus, Cragger, Crawley, Crug, and Crooler), and even Skinnit the Skunk, and Furty the Fox. And there are also pictures of the upcoming LEGO Legends of Chima sets that will probably get released with the TV show; including the #70007 LEGO Legends of Chima Eglor’s Twin Bike, the #70008 LEGO Legends of Chima Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker, the #70009 LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Combat Lair,  and the #70010 Lion Chi Temple. For currently available LEGO Legends of Chima sets check the Online LEGO Shop.

One of the most interesting sections of the LEGO Club Magazine is on Chima technology. For example, did you know that a Speedor will travel fastest and strongest in lush jungles, grassy hills and canyons – wherever there is life, as the wheels of a Speedor draw its energy from nature – however they will not run in deserts? 🙄

So mark the 10th of July on your calendar, and let me know what you think! Are you excited that the Legends of Chima TV show is finally starting up with weekly episodes? Are you planning to watch them? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

As you may remember I introduced you to a small Hong Kong based company that makes LEGO compatible light-bricks. Here is the link to the article where I reviewed their products in detail: LEGO Light Bricks – More Options! Since then they have also sent me a larger version of their light-brick called the 12 x 12 light-up base. So I thought to show it to you in case you are interested to check it out. 🙂

Custom LEGO Light Bricks

As you probably guessed 12 x 12 in the name of this new addition to the LEGO light-bricks family refers to the LEGO compatible studs. So yes, it is quite large – more like a platform or stand that you could use for your LEGO creations. In fact, unlike the small light-bricks made by the same company that you can integrate well into any LEGO diorama or set – with LEGO compatible studs on top and connection-points at the bottom – the 12 x 12 light-up base only has studs on top.

Custom LEGO Light Bricks Options

The bottom of the light-up base is smooth with a door for the battery section and a couple of holes for hanging. It is basically a square black box with a clear LEGO-compatible top. Nothing fancy, but it is solid. The LEGO light-up base operates on 3 standard AA batteries and has a simple on/off switch. Once you turn it on 16 LED lights come on with either a solid color or with different colors flashing at random, depending on the model.

I think it would be worth to add options for different light-patterns for the same light-up base. This would make each unit a lot more useful and versatile, and you wouldn’t have to buy a bunch of different colored ones for different LEGO projects. I could see the solid lights used in LEGO space-stations, LEGO city displays, alien worlds and all kinds of other LEGO creations. Solid colors would also work well as lighting options for  LEGO display cases, cabinets and shelves. It’s kind of cool when you can illuminate your LEGO displays with lights that come with LEGO studs! For the changing color version all I can think of is disco-floor! 🙄

The LEGO compatible light-up base is in the prototype stage at this point, but if you are interested you can check out LiteUpBlock.com and contact Samson. You can also leave him feedback right here, ask questions or share ideas for improvement. What would you use this light-up base for? What additional features would you like to have? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉
