You may remember that earlier this year I have written a post about a newly revealed LEGO City Set, the #4207 LEGO City Garage. See: LEGO City Car-Park & Garage Coming! Today I would like to share with you a bit more in-debth review of this set so you get a better feel for it. 🙂
I live in South Africa, a country where we mostly get LEGO sets late, or not at all. However I was fortunate to get the LEGO City Garage as a late birthday present from our local Toys’R’Us – the only reliable supplier of LEGO around here.
Here is the official description of the #4207 LEGO City Garage: The 3-story City Garage is always full of busy drivers tending to their cars! Ride the elevator and buy a ticket and to park! Then help the security-guard to keep a lookout for robbers. Drive out of the garage to take your car through the carwash and make it sparkle, fill it up with fuel or tow it to the workshop where the mechanic can repair it! The LEGO City Garage has tons of ways to play with your LEGO City vehicles! Includes 5 minifigures: 3 drivers, security guard and mechanic.
Personally I really like this LEGO City set. It is a great addition to an existing LEGO City collection, but even as a first set it is excellent as it is full of play-features and lots of details. With a 3-story garage (with an elevator), car-wash, security-booth, fuel-station, mechanic-workshop, 5 minifigs and four vehicles it is practically a mini-city in itself! Operate the elevator! Buy a ticket to park! Make your car sparkle at the carwash! Fill up with fuel! Hook the cars onto the tow truck and get them repaired! Here in South Africa, where our LEGO selection is limited, a set like this is considered pure gold!
One of the best parts of this LEGO City set is that you get four awesome vehicles. There is a yellow hatchback, which is a sportier version of the vehicle included in the #4435 LEGO City Car & Caravan set. Then there is a blue compact hatchback with new white hubcaps. The third vehicle is a bright orange tow-truck -similar to, though smaller, than the #7638 LEGO City Tow-Truck released in 2009. And the last is a cute little cream-colored VW Kombi Van with a white roof.
It would have been great if the LEGO City Garage comes with one more level to accommodate more cars. I would have also liked to see an electric-car charger along with the fuel-pumps – for the more energy-conscious minifigs – and maybe even a little hybrid car as well. 🙄
I really like the mechanic-shop of the Garage – it has a great working area and lots of tools. I added several more mechanics from the Collectible Minifigures Series 6 so they can get the job done faster. I also customized my set to have the top parking floors on the second floor, security and mechanic area on the top floor, and added another security camera on the second floor. (Sorry for the blurry picture – my camera is not so good.)
All in all I highly recommend this set as an addition to your LEGO City, or even as a LEGO City starter set. You can pick one up at the Online LEGO Shop. Here is the link: #4207 LEGO City Garage. The price is not cheap, $119.99, but again, it is full of play-features and it is practically a city in itself. The Garage would also work great with other LEGO City sets available now like the #7498 LEGO City Police Station, the #4429 LEGO City Helicopter Rescue, and many other LEGO City sets.
