Light Up Your Halloween LEGO Haunted House!

If you own the #10228 LEGO Haunted House, the #9468 LEGO Monsters Fighters Vampyre Castle, or any of the other LEGO Monster Fighters sets, you know they are perfect for Halloween! They are spooky enough already with lots of scary details and minifigs, but if you can add some lights, you would increase the effect by manifold!

If you would like to give this this project a try, there are many ways to add lights to your LEGO Halloween settings. You can add LEGO light-bricks, you can just stick in a flashlight or some of those electric candles, or get fancy by installing a LED light-kit. Below I will show you a light-kit specifically made for the Haunted House, and you can adopt it to other LEGO sets also.

Spooky, huh? The light-kit used in the LEGO Haunted House above is put together by Artifex Creation as a custom kit. The Haunted House light-kit includes 32 LED lights with 10 light patterns (both static and flashing), all the wiring necessary, as well as a battery-box to make the whole thing work. Here is an overview picture of how the lights look when installed.

As you can see there are lights on every level of the house, including the attic. Full instructions on how to install the light-kit is at Artifex Creation’s website, with lots of pictures. If you already own some LED lights and the proper connectors this is a great place to learn how to install them in your LEGO project, or just get some tips and tricks.

If you don’t have any LED lights, but would like to get some check out Artifex Creation’s eBay Store. Getting the whole kit would assure a hassle-free installation. Artifex Creation also carries other LEGO light-kits, so if you are interested I would suggest you browse their store for the full selection.

Are you planning to add some lights to your LEGO Haunted House for Halloween, either using one of the methods described above or something different? Share your thoughts and ideas below! 😀

LEGO The Hobbit website now open!

As we are getting closer to the official release of the LEGO The Hobbit sets, more and more exciting news is coming out about the theme. First we got the poster-images of all the LEGO Hobbit sets (see: LEGO The Hobbit sets – First Pictures!), and now the official LEGO The Hobbit website is open, with LEGO revealing a new set each week. Check them out below! 🙂

So far three of the LEGO Hobbit sets have been uploaded, with more to come in the following weeks. Each of the currently revealed sets feature detailed pictures, set descriptions and an interview with the set-designer. You can zoom in the pictures to check out all the little details – a really nice feature! You can also read more about each character.

Here I will show you the three LEGO The Hobbit sets featured so far to give you a taste, then if you like, you can bookmark the page on LEGO’s website and watch as a new set gets revealed each week.

#79000 LEGO The Hobbit – The Riddles of the Ring: On the shores of an underground lake beneath the Misty Mountains, Bilbo Baggins, armed with Sting, discovers a magic ring that was recently lost by the creature Gollum. Use the reveal function to take the golden Ring! But beware – only Gollum, aboard his boat of Goblin skin and bones, knows the way out. Can our Hobbit hero solve the riddles asked by Gollum and escape to freedom with the Ring before Gollum realizes it’s gone? You decide as you build and recreate this famous scene from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Includes 2 minifigures: Bilbo Baggins and Gollum.

Here is the introductory video with LEGO designer Hans Henrik Sidenius showing you all the details of this small LEGO The Hobbit set:

#79003 LEGO The Hobbit – An Unexpected Gathering: Gandalf the Grey has invited the Dwarves to Bag End – the Hobbit home of Bilbo Baggins. At first, Bilbo is not happy about cooking for so many unexpected and rude guests! But when they invite him to join their quest to The Lonely Mountain, the Company set out on their epic adventure.

Here is the introductory video with senior LEGO designer Bjarke Lykke Madsen – I have shown you this video before, but I thought to add it here again for completeness, and in case you missed it last time. It is a little hard to understand Bjarge, but it is worth watching as he will show you all the details.

#79010 LEGO The Hobbit – The Goblin King Battle: The Goblins have captured the heroic Dwarves and imprisoned them deep inside their filthy caves. Gandalf the Grey sneaks past The Goblin King to free his friends. But the cunning Goblins have a few nasty surprises in store for any intruder that threatens their lair. And they don’t surrender easily!

Here LEGO designer Hans is back, showing you the biggest and meanest LEGO Hobbit sets. Lots of details here and lots of traps!

These are the three LEGO The Hobbit sets revealed so far the #79002 LEGO The Hobbit Attack of the Wargs is scheduled to be uploaded on October 29th, the #79001 LEGO The Hobbit Escape from Mirkwood Spiders on November 5th, and the #79004 LEGO The Hobbit Barrel Escape on November 12th. Go to the LEGO The Hobbit website to see the updates as they come out.
