Holiday LEGO sale season starts now!

As usual at this time of the year LEGO is gearing up for the holidays with starting the LEGO sale season early. Expect various promotions and deals all the way up to Christmas. If you shop online one challenge I have found is that the Online LEGO Shop does run out of sets frequently. They are usually still available for back-order to receive at a later date, but if you want to make sure a LEGO set gets under the Christmas tree, I would suggest you take the necessary steps now. 🙄

As far as what kind of sales to expect during the holiday LEGO sale season, based on what we know from previous years, it is usually Double VIP Points, Free Shipping above a certain amount of spending, and sometimes a small set, promotional minifigure, or other freebie. As far as lower prices on sets, usually that doesn’t happen until a day or so after Christmas. For the month of October (yeah we are there already – can you believe it?!) the following LEGO sales and deals are available:

➡ Double LEGO VIP Points on All Purchases – if you are not yet a LEGO VIP member I highly recommend you sign up. Membership is free, and you earn points with every purchase you can redeem later. If you shop for LEGO frequently, this is a no-brainer deal. And yes, for the month of October you earn Double VIP Points on everything you buy directly from LEGO; either through the LEGO Online Shop, at LEGO retail locations and over the phone. DETAILS HERE

➡ Free Shipping on Orders of $99 or More – this deal is only available October 15-31, so if you don’t mind waiting this would be an excellent time to combine deals. You do run the risk of something you want running out (including the promotional TC-14 minifigure), so you just have to weigh the pros and cons depending on what is most important to you.

New LEGO Christmas Winter Village Cottage

Although it is a bit early to talk about Christmas LEGO sets, I thought to let you know about the newest addition to the LEGO Winter Village Series early, as these sets tend to disappear real fast. 😉

LEGO has started the tradition of releasing one Christmas LEGO set every year for the holidays. In 2009 we got the #10199 LEGO Winter Toy Shop, in 2010 the #10216 LEGO Winter Village Bakery, and in 2011 the #10222 LEGO Winter Village Post Office. And this year we get the #10229 LEGO Winter Village Cottage – the largest of the LEGO Christmas sets. A beautiful and worthy addition to the LEGO Winter Village series!

The official description of the LEGO Winter Village Cottage: Get cozy in the Winter Village Cottage! Continuing the LEGO Winter Series, build the Winter Village Cottage for a perfect holiday home. Seat Grandpa snugly by the fireplace with his newspaper as you help Dad to put up the tree, then bake a feast in the kitchen with Mom! When it’s time to stock up the storage shed with firewood, bring the kids for a ride with Dad on the sled watch him cut the wood with his chainsaw deep in the forest.
