While some LEGO-fans enjoy the LEGO Ninjago building sets for others playing the Spinjitzu game with the Ninjago spinners and collecting the Ninjago spinner-cards is the real fun part! (If you are not familiar with the Ninjago cards and how they work, below is a great introductory video.)

Personally, I love the Ninjago character-cards! In fact, I sometimes write down a list of the cards I plan on getting, and try to figure out my best and srtongest character from that. Believe me; it’s not an easy task! You can go to the LEGO Ninjago website to see the all the cards to find the ones you like, although they are sometimes a bit late adding the newest releases.

Although most of the Ninjago character-cards (and battle-cards) are very well done, there are a few that stand out from all the rest. My personal favorites are Jay, Cole, Jay ZX, and Kendo Cole – at least from the ones I already have. Other awesome characters that I do not have include Chokun, Bytar, Jay NRG and Kai NRG – although unfortunately the NRG ninja have very poor SP (5 of their element and 4 of another); only 900 total! Currently Kai ZX is my best character, and the one I play with the most.

💡 TIP: it’s a good idea not to use a character if they can’t play Chill Charge or Flash’n’Burn – unless of course, you don’t have Chill Charge or Flash’n’Burn at all and don’t really have a choice.

A great thing about Ninjago characters with short legs (like Lloyd, Chokun and Bytar) is that they stick very well to the Ninjago spinners! Still, Lloyd will never be better that Jay ZX, because the only difference between them is that Jay has one more Ice bar. This is also the case with Kendo Kai and Kai ZX. And of course none of the Kendo characters are better than Sensei Wu. I call this being able to eat another character’s card. 😛

Since I have Backup Plan card (reshuffle all your cards – and I take that to mean reshuffle Backup Plan as well), I use only my best battle cards – about 25. After all, unless your opponent has the Falcon Eye card (look at your opponent’s cards and discard the one you want) – you have a never-ending fund of cards. Fortunately, I only know two people with the Falcon Eye card – and one of them is me!

Some of the best cards are Total Recall (give up your character’s headgear, and trade all of your weapons with your opponent – even if they have three and you have one), Backup Plan, Sensei’s Red Card (cancel your opponent’s just played card), Deflection (give up your character’s headgear to cancel your opponent’s card and play it back against them), Recovery (retrieve your headgear/arm), and Falcon Eye. There are some other excellent cards (which I won’t explain) like Whip Attack, Boomerang, Bite Back, Recharge, Chill Charge, Crown of Lightning, Lazy Ninja, and most trap or scroll cards.

If you are having trouble going through your deck in one battle, you can play with what I call the “Three Spin Rule”. That means, after there is a tie for three spins in a row, all cards played in that turn are canceled, and a new round is started. And in case you didn’t know; you are only supposed to play one card before the spin and one afterwards (check out the Spinjitzu Tournament Guide for more information). But don’t forget; you can always change the rules. 😉

Another fun thing to do is play solitaire with your Ninjago battle cards – depending on how many you have this could take some ingenuity! One thing I love doing is just organizing my cards; alphabetically, by SP, how I like the graphics – practically any way that occurs to me! In reality, there are many things you can do with your Ninjago Spinjitzu cards; your imagination is the only limit! Here is another tutorial to help with your game:
