There are several LEGO-related news items that accumulated in the past few days and I thought you might find interesting. Read on below.

After two years of hiatus due to COVID-related uncertainties and restrictions, the in-person version of San Diego Comic-Con is back this year! The event will take place July 21-24 at the San Diego Convention Center. Although the full schedule hasn’t been announced yet, we already know that LEGO is going to participate on Thursday, July 21st at 10:15 AM PDT in Room 6DE. Here is the official description: “Explore the art of world-building the LEGO way with writers, artists, and builders as they co-create unique characters, settings, and storylines in an original story world, all from scratch using the LEGO WorldBuilder platform. Featuring Celina Frenn (writer, My Little Pony), Kevin Burke and Doc Wyatt (writers, Ninjago), Paul Lee (concept artist), Peter Donner (LEGO designer), and Asa Tait (head of production, LEGO Entertainment).” If you would like to keep updated on this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, visit the program schedule section of the San Diego Comic-Con website.

The team behind the Pick-A-Brick experience at the Online LEGO Shop is looking for the feedback of adult LEGO fans. This is your chance to provide direct feedback about your current experience with purchasing individual pieces via the Online LEGO Shop and help build the Pick-A-Brick experience of the future. The Pick-A-Brick team considers the voice of adult LEGO fans extremely valuable, so take a moment to fill out the anonymous questionnaire here feedback: Pick-A-Brick Community Survey

LEGO ran a Double VIP Points period just a week ago, and they are repeating the event next week. You will earn Double VIP Points on all purchases July 12-13 at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop. Please note that this offer is also valid on pre-orders that will be released later this year. This is a great time to purchase larger sets you have been saving up for! To take advantage of this offer, visit the Online LEGO Shop.

Amazon Prime Day – the biggest online shopping event of the summer – also falls on July 12-13. Amazon Prime Day deals are often similar to those that you see on Black Friday. It is a great time to find early holiday presents, restock your supplies, or upgrade your appliances and electronics. And of course, also shop for LEGO. Deals are typically available only to Amazon Prime members, who pay $139 for an annual membership (or $14.99 per month for a monthly membership). If you’re not a member yet, you can sign up for a free Amazon Prime trial to take advantage of the deals. If you decide not to become a paying member, remember to cancel the trial within 30 days to avoid being charged. Follow the link to learn more about Amazon Prime Day.

July 2022 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions

Happy July! Four new LEGO sets are available this month, and there are also a couple of new promotions, so let’s take a look.

You will get a free #30592 LEGO Ninjago Mini Thunder Raider polybag with LEGO Ninjago purchases of $40 or more. This offer is valid until the end of the month at official LEGO stores and the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.

During the entire month, you will earn Double VIP Points on two sets; the #10946 LEGO DUPLO Town Family Camping Van Adventure, and the #76948 LEGO Jurassic World T.Rex & Atrociraptor Dinosaur Breakout. This offer is also valid at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

The #21334 LEGO Ideas Jazz Quartet set is now available. We discussed this set in detail already (see:….), but to recap, it features brick-built figures of a pianist, bassist, trumpeter, and drummer in dynamic poses, plus highly detailed buildable models of their instruments – a grand piano, double bass, trumpet and drum kit. The set comes with 1,606 pieces and retails for $99.99. Available at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #10303 LEGO Icons Loop Coaster is the latest in the LEGO Fairground sets. It features a gravity-driven roller-coaster with one train and a boarding station with opening barriers and a control panel. Lower the bars to secure the riders into the roller-coaster cars. Then release the brake to send the train to the foot of the elevator. Activate the elevator and enjoy the ride as the cars whizz through the roller-coaster’s loops and turns. Upgrade the coaster with LEGO Powered Up (available separately) for a motorized elevator. Accessories include a park bench with a map, balloon cart, pretzel cart, hot-dog stand and height marker. The 11 minifigures include a ride operator, balloon seller, pretzel seller, hot-dog seller, a grandma, a young boy, and five riders (six of the minifigures have reversible heads to show different emotions). The set comes with 3,756 pieces and retails for $399.99. Available at the LEGO Icons section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #10497 LEGO Icons Galaxy Explorer is another set made for adult builders and collectors, based on the original LEGO Classic Space Galaxy Explorer from 1979. You can take your time crafting the features of this buildable model including the blended delta wing configuration of the original craft. The spaceship sits on three retractable landing legs and features opening rear doors and a retractable ramp to deploy the rover. The rear of the ship houses the rover compartment with extra tools. The cockpit opens to reveal the interior of the spaceship where there are seats for all four astronauts as well as living quarters with two beds, computers, and storage compartments. This set comes with 1,254 pieces and retails for $99.99. It will ship in August, but it is already available for pre-order at the LEGO Icons section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #11022 LEGO Classic Space Mission set is also now available. LEGO Classic sets provide inspirational ideas and encourage free-building. This set comes with 1,700 pieces and 10 space-themed mini-builds, including a launch tower, mission control center, rocket, space shuttle, sun, Earth, moon, astronaut, and two technicians. The set is recommended for kids ages 5 and up, but it is also a great set for older kids to boost their parts selection. It is available at the LEGO Classic section of the Online LEGO Shop.

As we discussed previously, LEGO is raising prices later this year, so it’s a good idea to pick up your favorite sets beforehand. This is especially true for the larger, teen, and adult-oriented sets, which will have the biggest price increase (as much as 15-25%). See: Upcoming Price Increases on LEGO Sets
