2021 LEGO Botanical Collection Coming Soon!

Today, the LEGO Group has revealed a new range of sets meant for adult LEGO fans called the LEGO Botanical Collection. So far, the series includes two sets; the beautiful #10280 LEGO Flower Bouquet and the serene #10281 LEGO Bonsai Tree. Below is the press-release with all the details.

While many people seek out green spaces to destress and relax, adults can now bring a touch of nature into their home and unwind as they create and customize their botanical builds… and the great news is that LEGO plants don’t need to be watered to stay fresh.

With 7 in 10 adults saying they often research new ways to destress and over 8 in 10 saying play helps them relax , the new sets could provide the perfect perennial project for those looking to get creative, destress, and find moments of mindfulness in a day.

Both sets in the new LEGO Botanical Collection include a number of elements made from plant-based plastic, produced using sustainably sourced sugarcane.

LEGO BOTANICAL COLLECTION – FLOWER BOUQUET

Surprise a friend or show yourself some love with a gift that keeps on giving, a beautiful flower bouquet that’s anything but ordinary, and won’t wilt! The 756-piece set features a host of beautiful blooms in an array of stunning colors that older builders can customize as their flowers flourish.

Whether you’re treating a loved one or are looking for a new creative project, the flower stems are adjustable so it’s easy to tailor the arrangement to suit any vase. A combination of snapdragons, roses, poppies, asters, daisies, and different grasses can be arranged in the bouquet in a number of ways to suit the mood of the builder and the design of the room.

The set includes a host of LEGO elements that feature new colors and shapes to perfectly recreate petal shapes and making admiring visitors look twice.

LEGO BOTANICAL COLLECTION – BONSAI TREE

The art of bonsai has captured the imaginations of tree lovers for centuries. Now LEGO fans or those looking for a new way to relax can celebrate this ancient art with the 878-piece LEGO Bonsai Tree model building kit.

Builders can enjoy a sense of calm as they carefully shape the bonsai tree model with either green leaves or pink cherry blossoms. When you’re ready for a change or when the season starts to turn, it’s easy to swap the colored crowns to create a totally new look.

The LEGO Bonsai Tree model comes with a rectangular pot and a slatted wood-effect LEGO stand, creating a pretty display piece to take pride of place in any home or office. Those who look very closely may even notice the little frogs that make up each blossom.

“As adults look for new ways to switch off and relax, we’re delighted to be able to help them seek solace from their busy everyday lives as they immerse themselves in creating these beautiful botanical builds,” says Jamie Berard, Design Lead at the LEGO Group. “The customizable elements and mindful building experience will hopefully help them express their personality as their creativity blossoms.”

Both sets will be available from 1st January from official LEGO stores, the Online LEGO Shop, and various retailers globally. The #10280 LEGO Flower Bouquet blooms can be designed to be over 14 inches (36cm) high, with the set priced at $49.99/€49.99/£44.99. The #10281 LEGO Bonsai Tree stands at 7 inches (18cm) high when complete and is priced at $49.99/€49.99/£44.99. LEGO BOTANICAL COLLECTION – ROSES & TULIPS

In addition to the two above-mentioned sets, additional flowers are going to be available in the #40460 LEGO Roses set and the #40461 LEGO Tulips set. These will be available exclusively from official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop on January 1st, priced at $12.99/€12.99/£9.99 for the #40460 LEGO Roses and $9.99/€9.99/£7.99 for the #40461 LEGO Tulips. LEGO Gingerbread House to Winter Cottage

Former LEGO model designer Tiago Catarino designed some wonderful sets like the #31070 LEGO Creator Turbo Track Racer, the #31065 LEGO Creator Park Street Townhouse, the #21313 LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle, and the #10267 LEGO Creator Gingerbread House. Tiago is now a LEGO Ambassador and runs a YouTube channel where he regularly shares LEGO building tips, tricks, and building instructions. In one of the recent videos, Tiago turned the #10267 LEGO Creator Gingerbread House into a normal cottage. Many LEGO fans love the set, but wish it was reality based, so they can add it to their medieval town or the non-fantasy section of their LEGO Winter Village layout.

In the video below, Tiago walks you through converting the #10267 LEGO Creator Gingerbread House into a reality-based cottage. He removed the bright colors, candy details, glitter windows, and other fantasy elements and replaced them with more muted colors to create a cozy cottage with snow-covered roofs. Please note that this was a live stream, so the video is very long, but you can just skip ahead to the sections that you’re interested in.

As you can see in the video, converting the Gingerbread House this way does require extra pieces as many of the colors are swapped out. Of course, you don’t have to change all the colors, and you can work with the pieces that you already have. Still, if you prefer a normal cottage, Tiago’s video should give you an idea of where to start and what to change.

I’m personally very happy with the #10267 LEGO Creator Gingerbread House as it is, but I understand the desire to change it. A reality-based version is more versatile and can be displayed all year long and not just around Christmas. If you would like to check out Tiago’s other projects, you can find the list of official LEGO sets he designed in the Brickset database, and you can also follow him on YouTube and Instagram.

What do you think? Do you prefer the fantasy or reality based LEGO Winter Village sets? And how do you like this conversion of the Gingerbread House? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!
