With the New York Toy Fair starting today, we should expect to hear about many of the exciting new LEGO sets and themes scheduled for release later this year. So, let’s take a look at what we know so far.

The most talked about new sets are related to the Star Wars: The Mandalorian television series. The #75292 LEGO Star Wars The Razor Crest features The Mandalorian’s armored transport shuttle. It was a no-brainer for LEGO to make this set, as the spaceship was prominently features in all of the episodes, and it looks simply awesome. The LEGO version has a dual cockpit, a big cargo hold for carbonite bounty, spring-loaded shooters, a detachable escape pod, and even a bed to get some rest. The Razor Crest measures over 5.5” (14cm) high, 15” (38cm) long and 11” (28cm) wide. The four included minifigs are The Mandalorian, Greef Karga, IG-11, a Scout Trooper, and of course, the Child. 1,023 pieces. I’m not sure about the price yet, but information should be available soon at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Because we can’t just have one set with The Child (a.k.a. Baby Yoda), LEGO also made a LEGO BrickHeadz version. The #75317 LEGO The Mandalorian & The Child set features brick-built Baby Yoda with adjustable ears for happy and sad expressions in a hoverpram, and The Mandalorian with a blaster rifle clipped to his back, a blaster pistol in his hand, plus binoculars. Both characters come with a baseplate for display. The Mandalorian measures 3” (8cm) tall, and the Child and hoverpram measures 3” (8cm) high. 295 pieces. The set will be available at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop. And remember, there are a couple of other sets related to the television series; the #75254 LEGO Star Wars AT-ST Raider from The Mandalorian, and the #75267 LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian Battle Pack. Both of them are available at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

A brand new theme was also revealed at the New York Toy Fair; LEGO Minions! Most of the sets are in the LEGO 4+ range to accommodate younger kids, but they can be interesting to adult collectors as well. The #75546 LEGO Minions in Gru’s Lab comes with Kevin and Otto. The #75547 LEGO Minions Pilot in Training comes with Bob and Stuart. The #75549 LEGO Minions Unstoppable Bike Chase comes with Bob, Stuart, and Gru. And the #75550 LEGO Minions Kung Fu Battle comes with Kevin, Otto, and Stuart. (Click on images for larger view.)

A larger set is the #75551 LEGO Brick-Built Minions and Their Lair is pretty interesting. Here is the official description: Want to step inside the unpredictable world of the Minions? Well, now you can! Build your favorite Minion then turn it around to reveal their room. Check out the figure version of each character. Put them inside the room to explore the mischievous personality of each Minion. Create inventions with Kevin in the lab or pop Stuart in his bedroom. Then rebuild Kevin into Bob with his kung fu playset. Inspired by the Minions: The Rise of Gru movie, kids can explore kung fu with Bob, build inventions with Kevin or let Stuart take a nap in his bedroom. Each brick-built LEGO Minion measures over 3” (9cm) long and 4” (11cm) wide. Kevin is over 5” (15cm) tall, Stuart is 5” (14cm) tall, and Bob is 4” (12cm) tall. Included minifigs are Stuart, Kevin, and Bob.

The Mandalorian television series has been received with overwhelming positivity, so I’m sure the sets will sell very well. The Minions could get popular with younger kids depending on the reception of the new film, and the King Fu Battle set could even be combined with the recently released LEGO Chinese New Year sets as it has the same color-scheme and decorative elements.

There’s a big market for adult LEGO fans out there. That’s why the LEGO Group and Chronicle Books have teamed up to release eight new licensed LEGO products this April, the first in a line made especially for adults, including books, games, journals, stationery, and desk décor. Below is the full press-release with more details, as well as information on how you can participate in a fun photo contest celebrating the launch.

Known for its entertainment, art, and humor gifts, games, and books, Chronicle Books combined its distinct design with the creativity of the LEGO brand to develop a unique line that would appeal to all ages. As more adults turn to LEGO brick building as a way to reduce stress and improve well-being, the LEGO products by Chronicle Books offer creative ways to express, engage, and share a love for LEGO bricks with friends and family.

“LEGO fandom is special in so many ways, but it’s particularly unique in the way it spans generations. We all share a collective joy in clicking bricks together—no matter the age,” said Chronicle Books Senior Editor Brittany McInerney. “With the LEGO Group, we wanted to create something fresh and sophisticated to appeal to a wide spectrum of LEGO fans. That includes everyone from nostalgic adults and parents converted by their kids, to deeply committed collectors and die-hard builders. We’re proud to launch with an exciting range of books and gifts that represents a true collaboration with our partners at the LEGO Group, and we’ll be rolling out even more in 2021.”
